I have just learned that there is a string of watermelons! I wish I could put my hands on one. You didn’t mention the string of hooks. Another great plant.
Thank you for this video! The plant nursery in Texas, that I purchased my string of pearls from had totally drenched two of the plants that I bought . By the second day I realized they both had stem and root rot! They were rather expensive at That! I bought another because they are the only place that has them. I immediately repotted it when I got home. So far so 👍 good.
Great video, thanks! I’ve purchased a few of the “string of” plants recently and like the little hanging pots they come in. I was quite surprised to find my string of hearts blooming and didn’t know until now that the dolphins did. That would be amazing.
I have String of Watermelons and am debating on getting one that's labeled as String of Pickles (Ruby Necklace) the leaves look like tiny green pickles and the vines \ stems are a beautiful red-purple color. I would love to find String of Turtles some day, they look wonderful. 😄👍
String of Nickels is Dischidia nummularia, which is another trailing, succulent species that does grow in the same/similar conditions as the rest of the "String of" family. Enjoy!
Love the video very informative but I noticed that all your plants are thriving in plastic containers when I transferred my vsop to a Terra-cotta pot they slowly died is it better to keep in plastic
Terra cotta with drainage holes is a better container for the "String of" plants. They are all succulent to semi-succulent, so the air exchange and water evaporation is better in a terra cotta vs. plastic. We use plastic because it's durable and a less expensive option for growing. You may want to consider the time of year you transplanted the plant (best time is spring) and the size of the container, most wanting to remain in tight, well-drained spaces and soils. Regardless of the best conditions, they do not transplant easily, and will typically show signs of stress and dieback immediately after.
I have lost 2 nice size string of dolphins ,2 nice-sized string of hearts. A baby string of hearts was destroyed by spider mites. I'm trying to be very careful with this last little baby 2 inch string of hearts so that the spider mites don't kill it as well.

Fantastic video! What about String of Nickels? Is the care and requirements more or less the same?
