Victory, its always a hard decision to stay in the game with a plant when the first time wasn't successful. It's the only way you learn. Plus those white pots are adorable.
I have a very dark apartment but found that when I keep my plants on the bar type counter top and leave the stove light on they do really well. The fertilizer that I’ve found that works the best and see immediate results is when I use coffee in my plants. My plants had been dying and I found that my tap water is too chlorinated so now I boil water and use a single serve Folgers tea type bag, tho it’s actually coffee not tea and brew it in a small cast iron oriental tea pot. Once is cooled down I transfer it to a container and boil another pot of water and once that’s cooled I mix the coffee with the water and water all my plants. Within a couple of days I saw a bunch of new growth on both my String of Pearls and Hearts. All the new growth was reaching toward the light. I do not use coffee grounds like I’ve heard some say as I had tried tossing the grounds on my lawn and it burned it. My plants absolutely love the coffee! When it comes to bugs on your plants I’ve read to use some cinnamon, as bugs don’t like it so I’m using it as a preventative measure. Cinnamon is also used as a rooting hormone so it shouldn’t hurt your plants. Finally, I’ve also used a thin stick to loosen up the dirt and have sprayed my plants with a mix of hydrogen peroxide and water as the roots like to get oxygen. The hydrogen peroxide is also used as solution in some cases for root rot if it’s not too far gone. I’m kinda new to all this but I’ve been really reading a lot about the needs of each plant so I’ve learned a lot. The coffee thing I learned from a coworker many years ago when I used to see her dumping her cold leftover coffee into her desk plant. That plant was gorgeous and from then on I’ve used that tip and believe me it works wonders! Hope these tips help! Happy growing 😊 p.s. I still haven’t quite figured out why my plants haven’t died with as little light as my apartment has. I do plan on getting some grow lights but in the mean time I think the coffee is what’s doing the trick. It’s amazing how fast you see the results. Love to hear how it does for you all!
@Sandra could you please tell me how you apply the hydrogen peroxide to help the roots get oxygen? I have used hydrogen peroxide on the roots of plants I repot to help kill fungus or unwanted pests. I have also sprayed hydrogen peroxide on the topsoil of my plants. But how does putting hydrogen peroxide in the topsoil of your plant getting to the roots for oxygen? i'm so glad you're parents are doing well . I once lived in a dark apartment and I was so discouraged that I couldn't have plants because they would die on me. ~ Great tips you just gave us about using Coffee! ☕️ That's amazing. Yes! I came here to say she is giving inaccurate advice on light requirements. Sun acclimating may be necessary, but most succulents need and thrive (esp if you sun stress to make certain colors/patterns prominent) in direct sunlight. They are from desert or semi-desert areas for goodness sake 🤦♀️

Honestly, I reccomend winding the strings and putting them back in the pot and use some Bobby pins. So they you get a fuller plant before starting to let any string grow
Definitely an option. Just be careful not to rot them or let them get too dry bc then they won't root into the soil. I find it much faster to root them when they've been cut ✂️ 😋😊
Awesome tip I saw on here was to take the plant and wrap it around on top, pin it, and you should have luck having a full plant on top. I’ve done this is with pearls and so far it look great but I also have good lighting on it

Want to know a really good secret to not overwatering houseplants? Use a palm mix, or bonsai mix. Both work great, however if you do palm, water it throughout when nearly dry as it is hard to rewet.
Thank you for these tips. I love your channel by the way. I have a string of hearts that I kept hanging in a south window since i brought it home and it immediately flowers and growing like crazy However, I started to notice that some of the new stems are drying up and some of the hearts are curling under. I moved it to a East window because I'm afraid it was getting too much sun. I'm so confused though because it has so many flowers and new growth.
Hi Catherine, I'm so glad you've been enjoying my channel!! When it comes to bringing a new plant home we have to keep in mind that we're giving them a completely new environment! It's quite normal for a plants old leaves to die back when put into high light, since they may not have been grown that way. But in time the new growth comes in tolerant of the new environment and higher light! It should be totally fine in an East window though, so long as its getting sufficient top down light!

Hi great video I'm wondering about the VSOH does it revert under a grow light I noticed a couple of your strands are fully green. I have mine under a grow light and super scared of it reverting. Do you know if that can happen?
They were actually like that when I bought it. The brighter light should make them more cream colored because they don't have to photosynthesize as much, like most variegated plants! I put my string of pearls out on my porch and hang them up where they get all of the morning son and they are doing great.
I'm sure they love it there!!

WOW useful video
Glad to hear it!! 😊👍🏻
Like your money plants
Look into fox farms. It’s what we use for all our friends
Oh for sure!! I have it in my cart on Amazon 🤣
I hear Liqui-Dirt is pretty good but idk if it smells or anything
I've definitely had it recommended a lot! It's next on my list to try after my Espoma runs out 😊🥰

string of monstera dubia ?
Not sure what you mean? Monstera Dubia is a shingling plant and it's not mentioned here.
I'm in California, we keep ours out year round...
Lucky!! I'd have so many more plants!! Haha 💕🪴
Do you do anything special if there is suppose to be frost?
@@tammyd.565 Mine are on my patio, so I think they're protected, but it hardly ever gets that cold here...coldest so far this year 45° at night in December/January, now in 50's@ night.
💕💚
You're amazing for watching until the end 🙏🏼💕
Is it okay If I keep my string of hearts in west facing window where it gets few hours of direct light
Yes! Just keep and eye on it for the first week or so to make sure it can handle it 😊💕

Captain Jacks? Sorry idk what you're referring to lol
Not to be a jerk, but in the next video would you mind moving around a bit more so I can identify the plants behind you? Sorry, but your zamioculcas zamiicufolia and a few of the other background plants really drew my eyes in.
There's a houseplant tour on my channel
I'm on my desktop so...
Thanks for watching love 🥰🪴
String of pearls are in the peperomia family
I tried string of pearls 3 times 🤦🏽♀️
Oh man, I feel that. I hope these tips can help if you try again!
I can't keep my string-of-pearls living.
Go to an aquarium store for that, low and will burn your plants.
