I'm watching this with my 14 year old son.
      Breaks my heart!
I wish I didn't have to tell him that there are such evils in this world, but he has to know and understand the reality of what evil some are capable of!😪
It breaks my heart because, part of him is still very much childlike!
      I LOVE that about him!
that childlike part of us, usually ends whe learn about things like this....😭
I remember the exact moment my loving, trusting childish nature ended.
The day I finally understood the truth depth of racism and what that meant to people like myself.
I was much younger than he is now.
But my mom said she didn't want me to lose my "beautiful optimism" as she called it, but her children needed to be prepared for whatever the world might throw at us, so that we can handle it if and when the time comes!
      Thanks mom!
It must've broken her heart to have to prepare us, but also how she protected us!

Of all of the documentaries I have seen about the Emmett Till murder this is the first time there was mention of his father and how he was

Good evening Mark. You said; "Of all of the documentaries I have seen about the Emmett Till murder this is the first time there was mention of his father and how he was"
The story about his father was broke by William Bradford Huie in 1955. during the trial. It was reported by hundreds of newspapers and magazines. And I have seen it repeated on many documentaries.
Most anytime the ring in introduced into the story, it is told how Emmett got it. It is commonly known.
      ___________________________________
Interesting fact: The man who signed Louis Till's death decree in the Army was General Dwight David Eisenhower, who became president. And Mamie Till wrote him a letter asking him to sent the FBI to Mississippi to investigate Emmett's murder

I was lucky to be born in Antwerp from a midwife who took me to visits of families whose babies she helped delivered, all the different colours, ethicities, beliefs. As a child you'd play with everyone, the kids that were not nasty, nothing to do with skin colour or something. I cannot grasp why the US is still so segregated. I cannot. What happened to both Emmet and his father is beyond my understanding what community living should be like. 💕
