I admire your persistence in trying to find ways to deliver the controversy content to your viewership, but what I admire most is how open and up front you are with your channel’s direction. You are absolutely correct that the your MO is about the traps and controlling the pests, and not emphasizing how graphic it can be. We all have imaginations, and our minds can make up what’s behind a triggered rat / mouse trap without having to see it. The traps you show are great. The designs are all over the board and your channel has inspired the imaginations of many people to share and send you their solutions to the same issue. Your channel is a melting pot of practical historical and modern ingenuity, and that’s why I subscribe. Thank you, Shawn, for all that you do for your viewership!

So sorry to hear you’ve had so many issues with RUclips etc pest control is a fact of life if you eat food your concerned with it people are so disconnected with reality these days
Yeah. I work in Pest Control. I don't enjoy killing things. But it's a necessity sometimes. People live in a bubble away from reality. They maintain that bubble by not looking. They maintain that compartmentalized disconnect with an, "As long as I don't see it, it doesn't happen" attitude.

I really respect the effort you went through to try to share as much as you felt was viable and the respect shown in how you went about it. Regardless of what other solutions you consider for showing more controversial footage I have a suggestion that I think would suit this channel well: a personal ratings system. How do you rate the reliability, humane-ness (in terms of quick clean kill, when it is a kill trap), etc. While you may be restricted in showing us I think we could all trust your personal evaluation in a scoring system that also gives you a reason to do a recap & review video on occasion. A definite plus for you across the board.

I feel for you; you're clearly stuck in a corner by the platform and by other "content providers." The one thing that I do hope you'll continue to at least let us know is whether the trapped animal is killed quickly or not. Some of the compression traps take a while, as opposed to the more or less instant kill snap traps.
Jason Patterson Shawn always states whether the trap is a Live trap or a Kill trap. Shawn doesn’t demonstrate kill traps that don’t kill immediately. So you’ll never have to wonder about that.
Sure he does. He's got several videos that feature kill traps that involve somewhat prolonged deaths. The most obvious examples are any of the drowning traps - the animals swim until they're exhausted and then drown. There are also traps where the animal is tightly snared in some way that results in a death by suffocation (think compression traps or a trap that bands an animal's chest.)
Jason Patterson Do you have a link? I’ve never seen him show an animal swim around until it’s exhausted. I’ve seen most of not all of his bucket traps.
@@totallyfrozen he is talking about the bucket trap videos where shawn would dump out the bucket of water and count the dead mice. They should be on here somewhere, i remember them.

I'm subscribed and I plan on staying subscribed! I appreciate you going the extra mile to show us the content. It's a shame that people/companies are so quick to flag your work. Wishing you a happy holidays!
New to your channel here and I just want to say: I like that you're against the animal suffering bit. I've been looking into different mouse traps lately, and the videos I keep finding on RUclips have been showing exactly what you said: electric traps, glue traps, etc. that just exist to make the mouse suffer... and based on a LOT of the comments I read, there are some seriously sick people who exclusively watch these videos just to watch the mouse suffer an agonizing death. Personally... I just want a mouse trap that kills quickly and effectively without causing the mouse too much suffering. This 'Jaws of Life' trap definitely fits the bill: It reminds me of your average cliché mouse trap with the spring trap and the bait, but this one limits them to where they can only stick their head in one area, whereas the typical mouse trap allows them to roam all over the trap... and if/when it activates, it mostly breaks legs, traps tails, etc. and otherwise just puts the mouse in a position where it will die, but it needs to suffer tremendously before that happens. With this... they stick their head in, click, dead. Quick, effective, and hopefully painless.
Your explanation got a sub from me. I respect that all the way. To the people that say they need to see the effect of the trap on the mouse or rat, well, it's dead. You don't need to see the wounds, it's dead. Give it a little flip and move on. This channel is about the traps and how well they work at getting mice/rats, not about reveling in the aftermath.
Imagine unsubbing from such a quality channel because those people can't get off on small animals getting killed uncensored. If those are the type of sick people calling themselves "subscribers" you honestly didn't need them around anyway. Great job with these videos and keep up the awesome work! You make great content and it sucks that all these scumbags did this to you.
I really enjoy your videos; they are very informative and entertaining. A lot of my enjoyment also comes from your love and care for animals; even the pests that you catch and/or kill. If people unsubscribe because they can't watch pests die on camera, then I don't think you've lost anything worthwhile. Please keep doing what you love, and I hope you continue to share it with us however you can.
You don’t need the people who want to see the violence only. They’re the ones with the problem. I think your channel is awesome. I’m an inventive type, and enjoy seeing all of the different designs. I’ve built a couple from seeing them in your vids, and also made my own variations. It’s just fun to do. Keep it up!
Shawn, I absolutely love your channel. I too like traps for the trap sake, not the killing of the animal, pest or otherwise. Please keep sharing your expertise. Have a great new year.
Hi there Shawn, coinsidentelly I invented a mouse trap to entertain my daughter a few days ago. Its a 3 story dolls house with a small mouse size one way round hole in the back (holes are irrisistable to mice). There are stair cases going from floor to floor and bedrooms with comfortable beds to keep the mice happy. A kitchen with doll house tables and chairs because the occupants are going to get hungry. Putting food on the table is done through a tube that looks like a chimney and putting water in the bath is added through another chimney. I didn't think they would actually bath but would go to the bathroom when they needed a drink. There are Windows to every room and the guests will soon get to know the kids that come to see them and feed them. This is probably the most humane mouse trap ever invented and should keep the criticizing, unproductive lefties happy!
Keep up the good work Shawn. Man you’ve been through the ringer. I’ve been watching you videos at least for a year and a half now and appreciate you taking the time to explain how many hoops you’ve jumped through trying to make it work and separate yourself from the... others. Sub’d 4life.

If people aren't getting the bloodshed they want from your channel and that causes them to unsubscribe...then fine. Don't let the door hit you on the way out!
You have great content and your down to earth and open approach is greatly appreciated here.

I'm so sorry to hear all of the troubles you're having with these censorship walls. I appreciate what you do and hope you carry on making videos even if they're limited in content. I don't know how viable it would be for you to start a Patreon? Thanks Shawn!
I live in a place where I never had any problem with rats or mices but I totally enjoy your channel cause I just love seeing all the interesting mechanisms used in traps and your decision on not showing the mice get killed won't change my experience on your channel at all :)
If there's one thing I learned from watching this channel: this guy has a real rat problem
yeah he seems to have a never ending supply of rodents doesn't he! if he ever successfully got rid of them all, he wouldn't have a channel any more!
@@peternospam342 The rodents have very fast reproduction cycles so leaving just a handful alive means a whole new generation in about two months. Also, he doesn't trap them outside his property so they probably keep coming from the woods.
If you have a barn, you will have mice and rats.
I like watching the "action footage" but I totally understand and support your decision to stop posting it. It's just not worth the hassle and it allows you to focus on the more positive aspects of your channel.

@@cgarzs its not really meant for type of business he's running anyway. Besides, RUclips isn't profitable, they just have Google propping them up. You gotta pay for those server farms somehow and bandwidth eats money.
@@Wheresmy240 bandwidth really doesn't, what does eat money, however, is servers that have to let that bandwidth through
EDIT: an example is tor, it's free and noone is backing it and yet it still works for a lot of people, bandwidth isn't an issue - it's slow because it focuses on security, not because it has low bandwidth - but since it's p2p it doesn't have any servers to keep alive so the devs don't need to worry about upkeep that much
Shawn goes through so much time, effort, money, and BS to provide us viewers with such great content.
What a trooper
I really respect the effort you went through to try to share as much as you felt was viable and the respect shown in how you went about it. Regardless of what other solutions you consider for showing more controversial footage I have a suggestion that I think would suit this channel well: a personal ratings system. How do you rate the reliability, humane-ness (in terms of quick clean kill, when it is a kill trap), etc. While you may be restricted in showing us I think we could all trust your personal evaluation in a scoring system that also gives you a reason to do a recap & review video on occasion. A definite plus for you across the board.
That sounds like a great idea!
Shawn we love your videos ignore the sickos who are just here to see an animal die we love the hardwork you put into your videos

Thanks for taking the time to explain all that Shawn. I knew that you couldn't post it on RUclips and it didn't really matter to me. But this is way more complicated and far reaching than I thought. Thanks for doing all this for us!
I love your channel, and I hate that you're having to deal with the self-centered scumbags.

Hey Shawn, I've loved all your content and I have noticed a lot of channels that abuse rodents in the way you mentioned. I'm glad you're putting some distance between them - sadly, because I 'like' your videos, I get recommended horrible videos of glue traps and electrocution of mice. Terrible stuff.
You're such a great presenter you could do anything you like and I'd still watch it... wildlife, woodworking, crafting, cooking, frontier skills. Heck, I'd pay to watch a skunk run around with a nutella jar.

You could name the trap "Bruce", after the shark in Jaws (who was name after Spielberg's Lawyer)
the Jaws shark was named Bruce TOO? Just like the vegetarian shark is that other shark movie named Bruce? Was that Finding Nemo or Shark Tales?
@@recoveringsoul755: I would be willing to bet Bruce "Finding Nemo" was after the Jaws shark, it's just too much coincidence. 10 to 1 the animators thought it would be funny. Pixar/Disney do alot of things that relate characters in a more current movies to past movies.
The Jaws of life "Well yes, but actually no."
I feel for you; you're clearly stuck in a corner by the platform and by other "content providers." The one thing that I do hope you'll continue to at least let us know is whether the trapped animal is killed quickly or not. Some of the compression traps take a while, as opposed to the more or less instant kill snap traps.
Jason Patterson
Shawn always states whether the trap is a Live trap or a Kill trap.
Jason Patterson
Do you have a link? I’ve never seen him show an animal swim around until it’s exhausted. I’ve seen most of not all of his bucket traps.
@@totallyfrozen he is talking about the bucket trap videos where shawn would dump out the bucket of water and count the dead mice. They should be on here somewhere, i remember them.
5:55: The soaked toilet paper roll and the tail sticking out leaves plenty to the imagination as to what happened when that trap snapped.

I like the thought that goes into these designs. I had rather focus on the trap's functionality than watching something die. None of us like youtube but unfortunately it's what we have to work with. Continue doing what you're doing.
"The jaws to heaven", maybe?
RUclips doesn't like anything even remotely related to religions either because those may be offensive too.
@@justskip4595 That's pure nonsense. 'Heaven' is used not only in literal sense, but also as a metaphore - if someone doesn't understand that, he/she should grow up or seek for treatment. When it comes to YT it's freedom of speech abuse.

Freedom of Speech is specifically a right guaranteed to US citizens that allows us to say unfavorable things about our government or politicians without fear of official or legal retaliation. THAT’S IT! Nothing else. It doesn’t apply to business policies (like RUclips). It doesn’t give you the right to say anything you want, anywhere you want, to whoever you want. RUclips: 👀
I know this is random but did you make your pfp cuz I really like it
Omg so true 🙄
I come here to see the traps and how they work, not for gore and cruelty. Thank you for you awesome channel!
This dude sounds like the nicest guy ever
Should have called it: "Sweet Release"
I know you must hear this alot. I love everything you're doing man. Great channel. 👍
I thought the cardboard tube was actually a pretty nice compromise of showing the trap in action while still keeping it within guidelines.
When a mans free time is his job, I don’t have any rat problems but these are satisfying to watch.

Hey 👋 Shawn I’m hoping my mom will let me get a mouse trap Monday shirt today
ooo that would be noice
