Australia has produced more great bands per capita than any other country. A lot of it might not have been heard around the world, but that's their loss. We're lucky!
As an American I find this stuff really fascinating, especially the way it mixes forms of western music across ethnic and geographical barriers,I don't think any us rock combines AOR,Southern Rock,Countrt Music,Reggae,Soul Music,Heartland Rock, and elements from New Wave or Prog like this stuff does so casually, plus the elements from British and European Art Rock very casually dispersed with Country to begin with. Hope that's not too pretentious.
I fell in love with someone like this once. I'm older now, and glad to never be that vulnerable or foolish. Falling deep in love like that is the driving force that creates babies. Then reality happens. The greatest gift in life I feel now is seeing that baby grow up and fall in love with a person who loves them in return. The circle of life.
I wish what would, could, have been as most of us do and then a loner I see and hear my ol mates, guys and gals whom have had children and some married but then they come to me with the disaster of buying that Home 🏘️ and hate there job and the children deal of child support though blaming each other and the mistake of getting married etc etc etc, I'm hitting 50 in December and all I know now is I do wish I had that dear 💓 girl if I only i found her and a two kids of my own and know I am more an adult and father than all those others that have stepped into it just because plus I get there are exceptions and not all is black and white but life itself of the pitfalls and potholes with no manual is a very brutal most of the time place to be and live and definitely if you have no family in your country apart from two siblings that useless tits on a bull with your father dying and blahhh blahhhh blah, just venting here with a most difficult time/moment in my life so please pardon me and I'm sure most will get what I'm trying to say and I give all that get me here a big Aussie 🇦🇺🦘 🤗 and I know how us lost Lonely souls are going through though it's a same shit but different smell in each of the bloody awful gut wrenching heart breaking 🖤💔hell's of shitty life we go through, before, now and in the future , your not alone even though I feel like I an right now with my torred hell I'm dealing with 🇦🇺🦘😞🙏🥺💔🖤✌️

This song, this anthem...it is a portal...it transcends all the chaos, it embraces the great beauty of love, throwing its arms like a cloak around us and all else falls away...
This was my first husband and my song. We saw Hunters and Collectors at The Coogee Bay Hotel along with Paul Kelly and The Dots and Do-Re-Mi. What a top line up, typical of the mid 80s! And a brilliant night! Unforgettable!
Proof that every Australian looks like Guy Pearce. Jk ha this has always been one of of my comfort songs and I’ve covered it in so many ways. It’s one that just bypasses the brain and grabs you by the heart
Naturally, because they started out playing in pubs and such. Where they had to be good at entertaining the patrons, live, or the managers/owners of the pubs wouldn't ask them to return. And the crowds would certainly BOOOOO them off stage if they were no good. That's why Australia spawned some of the best live talent in the world, back in the 70's and 80's, out of the pub scene. I'd like to also add The Angels to that list. R.I.P Doc ❤ He certainly knew how to entertain the masses.
This song makes me homesick - but like many in the Covid year 2020 I too am 'trapped' in a foreign land. Ironically I saw Mark Seymour in concert just before I left the great south land. He had his daughter with him on stage. A very nice night of Australian nostalgia.
this song is a rare beast. one that can be played at a funeral or a wedding. Maybe the best love song ever written. Certainly not mainstream but just extraordinary!
@@PiggyXMaloneHow can you say that? Personally I prefer this version to the original (1986) version. How many Hunters fans reading this would agree with me?
I grew up on Australian Pub Rock. Hunters & Collectors, Innocent Bystanders, Weddings, Parties, Falling Joys, ... Moved to NYC, raised two kids, and going out to a show today means seeing Emo Hip-Hop (yes, it's a thing, try BONES) , or David Byrne with my kids. But at least twice a year I get to rent a car and the Aussie rock comes out - and it never ever feels tired. Every two or three years I return to Oz - but its not the same, innocent country where I grew up. What happened?

Saw these guys a couple times in Oz in 1988. They were touring with Paul Kelly. I hope they still have/had a great run. Top notch band. Very fond memories.
Saw Mark Seymour and The Undertow play at Castlemaine last evening. Brilliant gig and a fabulous performance. Bonus was hearing this song performed that we had featured at our wedding service 1997. Great memories. Thanks Mark and co.

Wow is all I can say.
Can smell that 80s summer heat, so Aussie
A masterpiece. If Mark Seymour had only written this one song it alone would have justified calling him a musical genius.
Hi Shirley
Brings a nostalgic tear to my eye. A swell of pride and love for Australia and it’s music
I'm here because of The Bear! To the person who asked. Made me cry for sure
This is not a song, it is a hymn
Christ closer before Mars . . I mutter to self in cold dark room , Watson I call out half hearted . .
There is nothing like a fantastic Aussie song
The block is awkward
THAT 80s guitar really captures the sound & mood of Australia in the 80s. !
Maybe the best love song ever written. Certainly not mainstream but just extraordinary!
Are one night stands "love"? ;)
According to Eddie Vedder, it is the best love song ever written.
Its about a one night stand. Hardly a love song. Its a song about seduction
True ❤
The "squeeze the life out of you" part is questionable. 😂
Rip Dieter Brummer, may his memory be a blessing. This song reminds me of his character in Home and Away.

Memories of Melbourne in the 80's. Good times with friends.☺️
This song first existed in the 80's, Donna.
I was in my twenties in the 1980's...😂😂and I seen this band in Melbourne back then.
Ooh nice - and that’s how old my mum was in those years, too.
This version of this song is honestly the best
That's what I was thinking, too - and can you also hear one of the words from this song getting held in by the singer for long periods of time?
Slightly better that DAAS version
I see.
As a man, I find singing this song makes me feel both romantic and more masculine at the same time.
Did you know it’s about a one night stand!
Those feelings are not incompatible. Real men can be romantic without feeling uncomfortable. Take it from an old lady who knows.
