For the person that asked (this is what I got from it). Others can chime in if they got other tips.
    1. Apply products in the shower (at least the leave in so your hair can fully get the moisture)
    2. Use heat (body heat via plastic bag, blow dryer, hot water, etc) to make sure keep your hair moisturize before you style
    3. When applying products, check how it reacts to your hair. With LP hair it will take a minute to absorb but if you notice it's not absorbing don't add more product. Try starting from scratch cause it won't come out as good as you might like (it will just sit on your hair)
    4. Once you apply the product correctly, sit under a hooded dryer (or airdry your hair. Time varies for how long your hair generally dries). It will elongate your curls. A diffuser of blow dryer is nice but it drys your hair unevenly and chances are your hair will shrink or some parts might not be dried (as I always experience)
    5. Get a technique that works for you. You will learn, through trial and error, how to get your best wash and go so learn your hair. Find out what it likes and how it reacts and stick to it.
That's it. Thanks again Kim for the tips

I know to do leave-in cond while in the shower for better results but how long should I wait to add the other products?? and should I still do in shower ?? maybe with it hot and steamy in the bathroom to keep the hair cuticles open ?

Your hair wasn't dry the next day because you (micro)towel dried your low porosity hair after washing, and applied product onto already dried hair and therefore the products didn't penatrate your hair but just sat on top of your hair strands, causing your hair to remain covered with product sitting ontop 😊

Im a frizzy low porosity 4abcdefg headed woman writing this comment sitting with my blowdryer hood attachment on my head finishing up a wash and go. I avoided self made wash and gos for 2 years after collecting an expensive slew of gels, creams, activators, shampoos, and co washes that i purchased in hopes that my hair would have defined kinks and curls shellacked and frozen in place with a glorious gel cast. What i always ended up with was a gray crunchy residue ridden wiry helmet on my head. The only time i wore a wash and go was when i treated myself to my yearly visit to Tameka, the curl whisperer. I saw this video and nearly cursed you because you inspired me to go back and try something that always failed for me, and left me having to rinse my hair in the AM and go to work with a wet bun. I write to you this morning (its 3am) with thanks as i am drying my hair and it looks like i achieved a successful wng. My curls and kinks are defined, and frizz is to a minimum. My hair is letting the gel do its work. Thank you so much for taking the time to trouble shoot the wash n go, and display your technique in such a way that it really cues us on what to do, and why. You are definitely an educator. Now i can enjoy all these gels and such with out frustration. Thank you x 1000.

I really appreciate you showing us this video. You really do know your hair and what it takes to get your desired look. Lot of folks think it’s the products but more so how you apply them. Side note: if I don’t feel like my hair is absorbing the products, I wrapped my hand around that section of my hair, make a fist and squeeze. I hold it for like 10-20 seconds so that it can absorb into my hair. I learned that from EmbraceNaturalBeauty. It truly works.

Your hair isnt dry because your lo-po and when you stepped out the shower with DRY hair, it's harder for products to fuse (bind) together and work in your hairs favor. So the product AND the added cool water is just SITTING on your hair now. You can still see the product in your hair. Your hair is still beautiful tho😘

Thank you soo much for this 2 years old video! I am from Brazil and recently moved to PA and I was struggling with my low porosity hair never getting moisturised here in this cold weather. Now I know the problem, I need to apply my products in the shower when it is warm. I never had this problem in Brazil because it is hot the whole year there and my hair was always warm when I was applying my products.

I apply a leave in immediately after I get out of the show. Then I put my hair in 4 to 5 chunky twists/buns. In the morning I rewet with warm water. I apply my cream and detangle with Felicia. I then go in with my denman to get the curls to clump. Then I squeeze out excess moisture, so that my hair feels moisturized and damp(NOT WET). Finally I go in with a hard holding gel with the shingling method.

Only use warm/hot water to style your hair and room temperature/warm products. Cold/room temperature water/products just sits on my strands. Hot water is the best. When you feel the water in your water bottle going cold, simply replace it with hot water again.

Pretty Big’s comment is spot for how you can do it. You can also just apply your leave-in, in the shower then do everything outside the shower. However, as a low porosity natural, I don’t think we even need leave-in. Leave-in’s purpose is to smooth the cuticle. Low porosity already has closed cuticles. Our goal also isn’t to get warm leave-in into our strands because leave-in does not nourish the inside of the hair (cortex) just provides smoother surface for gels/stylers like a nail polish base. I find my hair is more dried out when I use most leave-ins. I either do the routine Pretty Big suggested with a light moisturizer in place of leave-in (e.g. Camille Rose Fresh Curl) and pin in buns to soak in before gel or I apply a gel straight to soaking wet hair. The gel should have botanical/healthy ingredients if it is going straight onto the hair.

Thank you so much for this priceless info! SIS! This is how my hair looks when I do my wash and goes and I always wondered why it looked white when saturated with products. I have always wanted to do a wash and go where the products went on clear. I would be looking a hot mess because my products would be sitting on top of my hair instead of my hair absorbing them. I have tried to use other products and got the same results. It would take all day and then some to dry. This is me exactly! Thanks for the facts!

Laaady, I’m hurt just looking at your hair. 😩However this confirmed for me why the Deva Dryer (Hand-held) did not work for me, when my stylist “clearly” told me to get a hooded dryer. The two do not produce the same results. I also learned from this video that if the hair is feeling and looking frizzy and not smooth when wet, to STOP and evaluate before styling my whole head and regretting it the next day, lol.

YES, education for the low-po’s! Half of these “mistakes” were a part of my wash and go attempts 😩 let me keep trying though. My guess is it’s not dry because your hair follicles were already closed from the cold water and the products are trapped in all the of the water that was sitting on and not IN your hair
