When our hair is short, it tangles back up easily because we don't have enough help from gravity. Also, if we have knots and split ends, they catch really easily. The key is to keep each section stretched until it's styled (twisted/clipped away), but ideally we will style the section right after we detangle. There is also the issue of our ends being higher in porosity, so if it's high enough, we may have to treat the ends completely different from the rest of our hair...
@@NaturalReign Hi Kayla. Great video but need HELP! What was the ratio you suggested to mixed the kkkt leavein with H20 please? Sound quality was not clear in that part of the video! Thanks in advance and Happy New Year 2022. Much health, wealth and financial abundance.❤🙏🏾🥰
Everything she complained about, I felt in my heart! That constant tangling ain't no joke! And kids hair?! 😭😭 I'm waist length with low porosity, high density 4a/4b hair and my daughter's hair is to her butt and it's low porosity, low density 3c/4a hair. It's extremely different! 😫 Especially since I went natural because of her to learn how to do natural hair. Little did I know our hair would be different... 🙄
Girl I felt this too. Product just sitting on top has me wanting to sob at the money refusing to soak into my hair. Also don’t know how young your daughter is but my head started at 3b/3c when I was a baby then shifted up to 3c/4a when I was around 5 and then again to 4a/4b when I was in middle school and my mom has 4b,4c hair that she used to always perm and now just straightens so we would both sit there like what is this what do we even do with it
If your daughter is still young her hair will most likely change as she gets older. The hormonal changes as we get older often times change the hair follicles, causing one's curl pattern to change. I used to have 2c/3a hair when I was younger and now as an adult, my hair is 3b/3c/4a.
I have 2 daughters and all 3 of us having different types and textures. It’s no joke the amount of products I have to buy for each of us. Thanks for sharing!
Finally someone with ACTUAL short hair. 🙌 (Longer than a TWA, but not exactly shoulder length. Some of these hair gurus out there have hair down to their backs and claim it's "short". Like sweetie, am I bald-headded then?! 😂😂 No shade, just my thoughts
The low porosity struggle, lol. Both of you have such beautiful hair! I learned with my low porosity hair that you can’t use too much water for your wash and goes. The cuticle gets too full of water and that keeps your styler from sinking in and working effectively to define low porosity curls. At least for me. lol
She is my hair twin!!! From the porosity to the curl pattern!! I feel like I can never find someone who’s hard looks like mine and or behaves like mine. Thank you soooooo much!!!!!
When I first went natural I used to cut my hair often because my ends would tangle so easily but now after 3 years I realize my hair is just that way. I have low porosity type 4 hair.
She has my first name and you have my last name annddd you both have my hair type this makes me feel at hoooommeeeee lol all in all Reign I love the both of your hair! I still can't figure out the porosity thing. I'm still trying and this helps, thank youu 💜
My hair is very similar to your friends! The best way to combat extremely coily hair) is to stay up on trims/hitting those single strand knots. My wash and go’s hit when my ends are together. I see minimal shedding and my hair growth improves because I see less breakage during my detangling process because my ends don’t get tangled around each other. How you did the wash and go is exactly how I attack mine but with smaller sections and you need the right products for us low porosity gals lol. Lighter is the way to go on smaller sections! Hope this helps :-)
Please tell your friend that I feel her pain but I discovered Redken and life changed forever. The Redken Extreme and Redken All Soft helps immensely with loosen the curls so you can detangle. And it doesn't change your pattern at all.
the dry tangly feeling is the #1 signal for a trim bc split ends never feel moisturized or stay detangled. and a trim even once a year will help with the overall feeling of the hair. and i have 4b/4c hair too so ik the feeling lol hope she continues her natural hair journey 🤗
You guys have such a beautiful and funny friendship. I would love to see more videos of you guys doing hair and discussing relevant topics. I also relate so heavily to the things she said about her hair. The back of my hair is like that and it tangles like crazy. It gets easier to detangle when it’s longer.
Great video! I think constant tangles and lack of definition definitely are a challenge of having short hair that’s lighter in weight but it’s not specific to any porosity. I feel like I use a lot more product because roots are just wilder and more exposed with shorter hair.
such a good job! This helps me so much - my daughter has type 4 hair and we struggle with her wash and go because its "fro-y" once the product is on I always feel like its not going to turn out well. Seeing that I have type 3 hair and mine is not fro-y once I've applied my leave-in and styler, I have a hard time gauging (while I'm doing it) what is going to be a "good" wash and go on her. Now I am going to watch how Kiya does her own hair so I can grab some tips from her.
Mane choice products are so nice and highly moisturizing even their shampoo defines the hair like crazy . And super soft . Love their hydrating leavein and pink lemonade line .
I have low porosity also. Our hair look so similar! I use only milks for my leave in conditioner because it adds the extra hydration my hair wont suck in! (At the ends) I also deep condition A LOT with protein infused in it. My deep conditioner is my Protein and my CurlMilk is my hydration. An even balance ☺️☺️ he hair is beautiful ❗ I am a product JUNKIE! I put a ridiculous amount product in my hair too lolol
I'm a newly natural of about 7months, my hair is low perosity and I just recently colored my hair black because of the gray, so now it's taking on a completely different texture and feel. So I now have to figure out what my hair needs.. The struggle is real. Love this video tho.
I GENUINELY THINK YOY WERE READING MY MINDDDDD....I just discovered my hair type and porosity and how to deal with it.....I was searching for this type of video on your channel then boom... it
I have low porosity too and use Kinky Curly Knot Today. It is kind of thick, and it takes a while to even moisturize my hair. I'm starting to think it's not the best moisturizer for low porosity hair. But Mielle's White Peony leave-in...amazing. My hair DRANK it up. Try it if you haven't girl.
First, must say this channel has changed my life. Not being dramatic but serious. My hair is type 4 and low porosity as well. You gave me some ideas for diluting products I try to put n my hair. It sits on my hair. My hair like hers also stays tangled and feels dry. I have since watching NaturalReign lightened up on trying to detangle so much. My hair has already begun to flourish. The comb jacks my curl definition in wash n go's too. The nape of my neck is also easy to deal with the rest.... well umm -_- and puffy roots are no joke. But my hair is thick I am still trying to figure that all out.
Oh my god I’m so glad to know I’m not the only one who takes multiple hours to detangle their hair. I feel like there are so many natural girls on RUclips who will complain about they’re hair taking 15 minutes, which if that’s long for you that’s fine too complain about i just started wondering if I was doing something wrong 😂😂
wow she had like.... my exact hair type. like the curl pattern, the porosity, everything. this must be my saving grace because i’m about to binge watch all her videos lol
Thank you for showing this. 😁 I have low porosity hair and 3 different textures. It is very hard for me to style my hair and keep it moisturized. I am going to try this along with what I already do.
@Kiya. Try putting a thick oil on just your ends. I have to do that with both my daughter's 4z hair (yes I said z) and my 4a-4b hair. It helps prevent those bothersome tangles.
I'm new to your channel. I transitioned for 2 yrs, and about 2 weeks ago I cut out what was left of the relaxer. So your videos are helping me tremendously .
A fellow LOW-PO Curly!!! 🙌🏾 When she said her no matter what her hair is always tangled, I had such a confused expression...her curls are BEAUTIFUL!!! And granted my own hands wasn’t in her head it looked like it detangled pretty easy to me. What products does she normally use? Cuz I know for both me and my daughter’s thick Low-po curls the wetter the better, the smaller the section the better and the product HAS to have a ton of slip. But, her curls are absolutely beautiful!!!
The tangles!!! My hair (and my daughter's) is the opposite. I can comb and comb and comb and think those roots are detangled, but then I go to part to twist and .
When doing Low porosity hair products just sits there and it will take after while vs high porosity it takes products faster because of the shafts are open. I'm high porosity. I use wetline gel warm water mixed with aloe juice
Yes! I wanted to see more of her since the DR vlog! I wish I had youtuber friends that I could collaborate with. That’s a way to grow your channel honestly too! Because I know I’m about to follow her channel now too. Grey video 💙💚

My hair does the same exact thing sometimes. All my life. You have to section your hair during the shampoo until you get your moisture level up if you haven't already. I think it has something to do with dryness from being low porosity. It's taken me 3 hours to detangle on multiple occasions. But when I shampoo/condition/detangle in sections it takes all of 15 minutes. Also, predetangling works also, then you'd just have to section it to shampoo etc. Also shampoo your hair in a down direction with minimal manipulation. Btw I know this video is from 2019 but I am again dealing with it and found what works for me.

It’s good to know I’m not the only one who struggles to control puffy roots. Her hair looked so pretty!
Ma'Nesia Jones puffy roots n some sections of my hair just DONT define like at all 😂 n I be so sad
Make sure y’all are detangling the roots and applying products to it. And don’t sleep on wet roots it’ll mush and frizz

Kiya has such a sweet soothing voice lol. I think she and I have similar hair textures/porosity so thanks for this!
After detangling, she may benefit from keeping her hair in twist and possibly a trim? You both are beautiful!!
WE LOVE A LOW POROSITY QUEEEEEN. Single strand knots, dripping hair , the truuueee struggle
She is so gorgeous! 2 beautiful women with positive vibes. I love it.

Brittney C same bro
Sameeee. I remember sometimes I'd trim like inches off😂. Done with that mess.
Kim's hair came out very pretty. It was nice of her to let you style it, and now you have a little experience with low porosity hair. :)
lastly I love that you know your hair. my wash and goes I never can use a comb or brush. breaks the clumps for my low porosity hair as well
Same sis. My hair tangles easily too 😭😭 the struggle but I don't have the patience to detangle for an hr. Maybe I should

Results are super cute. Truth about shorter hair needing to be more defined. The longer the hair (i feel) the more frizz u can get away with!

I’ve been hearing in a couple of videos that when ur hair keeps tangling to check and see if u need a trim.
