Wow! I never thought crocheted socks would look this good! I thought they were knit til I read the description. Your instructions were great! I can't wait to make a pair! 😊
This seriously is the best crochet sock pattern I have ever seen. All the others I've tried were chunky and the heel was always super difficult to do. So excited to try this!
I’ve been crocheting socks for over twenty years,in fact my name on Crochetville and Ravelry is Sockmad. I’ve found that the extended single crochet is a great stitch for socks and it wears well. I also prefer an afterthought heel much easier thane the short row heel. 😉
while i may not have sensitive feet i do have sensory issues, meaning that no matter how beautiful and well constructed a crochet sock is, it always feels like i'm walking on pebbles while i'm wearing them! i think it's just the nature of crochet and how the stitches are formed. they're almost like little knots, in a way! that being said, i'm envious of people who *can* actually wear crochet socks, because your pattern is definitely the best i've seen on the subject! you said you spent a ton of time creating this pattern of yours, and believe me, it shows. that's a nice sock!
Im halfway thru my first foot and I just gotta say what a lovely tutorial and pattern this is. Ive been away from crochet for over 3yrs and Ive been able to follow along no problem and even making adjustments with a thicker yarn and larger hook. Thank you so very much for inspiring my crojo back to life. 😊
Just love this. Thank you! Wondering if you could edit a more “up close version” of this tutorial. I’m having a hard time seeing, even on a bigger screen. My eyes are older. Thanks!
RUclips has the ability to zoom in now. If your watching full screen. Although it’s slightly blurry once you’re zoomed in so far. Definitely a good note for future videos but in the meantime the zoom feature does help!!
I am proficient at knitting socks and was looking for a video to help me learn to crochet a pair...and I found your video! I am almost done with my first sock and I am very pleased. Your step-by-step video is just what I needed! Thank you so much:)
Thanks for the tutorial! I finished a pair last night, and I love them!! As a few others have noted, I also had some issues with the sizing. I ended up only doing one of the increases for the heel gusset and then continuing on for the same number of rows as though I’d continued the repeats. They fit my ankle much better that way.
Thank you for this detailed tutorial. I was so confused about the afterthought heel (was trying to make a mini xmas tree stocking ornament and gave up)" I am now making slippersocks for my grandchildren and this heel technique I am willing to give a go. My experience is to keep trying. The more sock I make the better I get at it. This is my advice to anyone else who is interested in this type of heel. I have been crocheting for over 50 years and knitting for 10.
This tutorial is so helpful in tandem with your pattern! My mom asked for socks for Christmas and this was my first try crocheting them. Your explanations behind each increase and decrease really helped and these were such a fun and quick project!
I've crocheted so many bad socks.. most were ok if they had long cuffs but ankle socks were my downfall. You've saved me!! Thank you! I can see several points that have upped the whole ankle-sock game level!
I love this pattern, I'm so excited to try it! I was wondering, if I wanted to make the sock taller to be a quarter or crew length sock, would I only have add more rows before the ribbing for the cuff? Or would I have to change anything else to make them taller?
This is the first sock pattern I’ve ever followed and I’m so glad I chose this to learn with!! This tutorial is amazing!! I’m also so glad I bought the pattern because I will definitely be making many more!! ❤
Hi Britanny 👋. Thank you for doing a sock tutorial. I am absolutely fine with the background colour and yarn colour. I could just do with your hands being closer to the camera, bit too far away😁. Hope that's ok to say as constructive feedback and people don't need to be quite so rude and blunt in my opinion 💜🇬🇧
Thank you, Lacey! I welcome your constructive feedback, and I just want to say how much I appreciate how kind you were about it :) It helps me get better!
Hi, I don’t mean to be annoying but finding it quite frustrating trying to work out some of the smaller details that are skipped over. Eg 1:55 you say to put a single crochet in every underneath stitch. It’s hard to see as a beginner how many that should be, but you don’t say how many it should be, so i thought its fine i’ll just count how many you do, but then you do a jumpcut after 2 stitches so i can’t just count them either. Just incase you wanted to include beginners in being able to follow long, these sorts of things make it so much harder. Thanks for the video anyway, the socks look great but this unfortunately means I’ll have to find another video. Hopefully one day i’ll get it because i would love to make them.
I’ve been knitting socks for years.. time to try something new! 🤩 now to work out American terms to Aussie 😆 in regards to sock weight.. fingering weight = 4ply here, so Google tells me 🙄 I’ve never used sock yarn with such a large hook before.. gauge time 😆 Neat, excellent design, can’t wait to try 😍
This is the first pattern I've seen that's actually wanted me want to try to make a sock. Pattern looks simple and easy to understand. Love ankle socks. But could you give advise on how to make the cuff taller/longer ? To make a taller ankle sock or like a normal length mid calf socks.
I've not tried this pattern just yet but I'm working on finding the right yarn to use for it. I have always wanted to knit a pair of socks but I just can't get the hang of knitting. So these socks look like they will be a perfect compromise! I'll come back after I make them to comment my thoughts on everything. Thanks for a clear, fum pattern!!
I don't like the tone of some of these comments... Thank you for providing us a brilliant free tutorial! The footage could be clearer, but it's fine as you've kindly provided us a written version too. New subscriber here!
These socks are really beautiful. I love the yarn you use & have used it myself for knitting socks - they are the right thickness & comfortable. I am thrilled to be able to crochet socks though. Knitting does not travel as well as crochet does. This is an excellent tutorial video for beginners or advanced. Thank you so much! I really want to make these now ^_^
I could see this tutorials just fine! If you're having trouble enlarge the picture to full screen. I'm an old lady and I could see and follow pattern just fine. Thank you so much. The link to the free online pattern is missing from the description area. I found it by looking in the complex crochet pattern area of the website. 💜
Thank you for this pattern and tutorial. I have been trying to find a good crochet sock pattern and this one is it. Thanks again for all your tutorials. Blessings to you all
Holy Crow!!! a tutorial I can follow! your explanation and stitch along was very well done and I can't wait to tackle this sock. I have been looking for something to do with some great yarns I found on vacation and the car ride through the states last year. thank you so much. so glad I found you :)
I have never really wanted to crochet a sock more than this one. I knit them usually, but I’m going to have a go at this pattern. Thankyou for sharing.
Omg! I have this yarn! How perfect! I have tried many crochet sock patterns and they definitely don’t feel as nice as knit. I am looking forward to trying these. You always have great patterns and tutorials, thanks for all you do!
Well done!, from a long-term, crocheter. Only issue, I have pointy heels, the back, as is, would be too low. So, I'll do more rows at the top edge &/or stitch in a bit of elastic thread in cuff.
ok with Stephen West starting his MKAL tomorrow and this pattern in my YT feed....clearly I know how I'll be spending my Labor Day weekend! Beautiful work!
Your teaching is perfect. Your voice is calming and instructions are so helpful. I would just suggest bringing the camera a little bit closer. Hard to see what your saying. I so appreciate your work.
Oh, my God! Those socks look amazing, and the wool you used makes them look really pretty, I'll defo be making these at some point (probably when I get some pretty looking wool). It looked somewhat complicated, but it didn't look like brain surgery, so I'm safe. Thanks for your video, it was nice to watch.
These are beautiful! Thank you so much for your video! I'm looking forward to trying this pattern. I do knit socks but I have crocheted way longer so very excited to find this!
I couldn't do the cuff with slip stitching it was quite awkward with my hands. I would recommend to do sc ribbing for the cuff if you struggled like me! Same method with BLO
I love knitting socks but to date have found no crochet socks that I enjoyed making or wearing. This design is so unique; I watched the entire tutorial last night and am looking forward to trying it. Is it possible to make a longer leg than this shortie design? Could I just add more rows before the cuff? Thank you. 🤗
I literally woke up thinking about making myself some anklet socks. Don’t know how the algorithm knew, but I’m so happy it popped this up in my feed. Thanks for this pattern, it looks just challenging enough that I can actually make two. Second sock syndrome sucks 😂.
Your sock looks Soooo good!! I’ve started a few time having slight issues with the waistcoat stitch at the very beginning. I’m determined however!! Great tutorial!!
I found that having a smaller hook on the ready in case you worked to tight to be very helpful. Irregardless of how lose I try to work there is at least one stitch that is too tight
This is a great sock pattern and I would very much like to make them, but, goodness, I just really could not see what you were doing! I am going to give it a good try though! Thank you!
I love your knit sock pattern. It’s now my go to pattern to make socks & it’s been since you publish that pattern. Crochet socks I love it. Can I just use the single crochet stitch instead?
This looks amazing ima try mine with a longer ankle section cuz I love longer socks. Hopefully this doesn't effect the outcome too much as I'm only adding more rounds at the top
I have been wanting to make socks since I became a “hooker”. I have made slippers and baby booties, but it’s just not the same. I can’t wait to try this. ❤
So much easier to just mark the stitches where you increase instead of having to count constantly. Can't believe there aren't more patterns out there doing that!
Thank you!! I really like this pattern. Would you please explain a bit the Foot session : Repeat:Rep last round to 4.5 (5, 5.5)” : is that measured from the tip of the toes, or it is the length of the piece excluding the toe session? Thanks.😊
Great tutorial, the only thing I'm confused about is exactly where to place the hook when doing decreases on the afterthought heel. Specifically the first few and working into precious decreases, it's so confusing and I keep getting gaps :(
The only thing I don't like about this sock pattern is that the sock is shorter than I usually wear and the waistcoat stitch tends to drift to the left, giving the sock a twisted look. This is normal for this type of stitch. Your instructions are very good, especially regarding pla ement of the stitch markers.
Struggling with the first round of this pattern. You have chain 7, SC 2nd chain from the hook and following 4 (5, 6) chains. But then have this round should be 14 stitches. If medium and large need to add stitches, they can’t all end with 14 stitches. So I can’t tell if I’m doing this wrong or the first round should be the same for all sizes and the “4 (5, 6)” is an error
It would be better off the background is black then it would be easier seeing the yarn being crochet into the project. Cause the yarn is a light color, and a dark background will bring out the yarn to make it stand out more. Love your videos! I learned a lot from them!
I've been wanting to try socks for a while and this looks like a great pattern! The PDF version shows as sold out on your website. Will it become available again?
I'm curious if you (or anyone else) have tried making the medium or large sizes. I made the medium and the ankle height and diameter are way, way too big. I have counted and re-counted my stitches and have compared it to the stitch numbers on the pattern repeatedly to make sure I didn't do something wrong. All my stitch counts match. It's just way too big. The foot fits great, but the scale from the heel up is way off. I imagine my ankle height and diameter are pretty similar to someone wearing a slightly smaller shoe size, so adding that many more stitches in the upper for the medium/large doesn't seem like it could be correct. I found this to be a challenging stitch (because I can't seem to stop myself from crocheting tightly) and it took me quite a long time. I'm very sad I can't wear my sock. :(
I just started doing it and I have the same problem because according to the chart mine is a medium so the first part should be 46 stitches but when I tried it oh my foot it was too large, so I think Im gonna undo the whoke thing and make it smaller
Out of all the videos I scoured looking for a genuinely nice looking crocheted sock this is the best end result and I just can't see where in the heck I'm supposed to loop through at 3:15-3:20 - I keep rewinding and zooming in and trying to pause it but the example is on a stitch that's later in the project and this is so frustrating. I hope future videos might include a *much* closer look, and slower filming through the motions of the trickier bits. Putting this project down for now.
I've been working through the written pattern and it feels like there are mistakes or missing pieces. The foot section gets worked until 4-5 inches, measured from where? The tip of the toe, the last round of increases? The gauge is 6 stitches per 2 inches. Is that right? I measured my foot and rounded down in size but so far my socks are working up way too big. I thought it was my gauge but I'm getting 9 stitches per 2 inches and that's with me trying to keep things loose. Part of me wants to power through and see how the end result turns out because this pattern seems okay in theory but I feel like it won't actually fit without a lot of adjustments.
I measured the 4 inches from the tip of the toe. I do the small and it still seems to be really big for me too! The hole for the heel starts in the ankle :D The toe part is a bit too narrow but the sock itself is really long, as I said the bottom goes all the way under the foot, so the heel starts from the floor up (if you imagine the foot standing on the ground). Haven't done the heel part yet though, so we'll see if this gets better. Also the ankle part is really loose. So the small one is a bit tight at the toes (it leaves plenty of empty room where the foot does not reach), the length is a bit too much and the ankle is too loose. I definitely have to adjust the pattern somehow if this does not turn for the better :D But then again, it is a pattern that has no sizes other than "small" etc. The size I need is 36-37 (6 US, 4 UK), which is a common small(ish) size, so I hope it turns out okay in the end. I am powering through, hope yours turned out well!
Help! I am visual, and am not able to understand the marker placement changes and where the 4 added SC per round appear. Do you have a pictorial on this? I don't follow the note under round 2: on each end of the oval shape, 1 st should be separating the marker (18 sts).
Wow! I never thought crocheted socks would look this good! I thought they were knit til I read the description. Your instructions were great! I can't wait to make a pair! 😊
Thank you, Aleda! So glad you saw they are crochet so you can give them a try!
You don't have the pattern any for free

If I wanted taller socks, is there an easy modification to this pattern I can do?
I've been wanting to try socks for a while and this looks like a great pattern! The PDF version shows as sold out on your website. Will it become available again?
How would you go about making them taller? I really want to try this out but I prefer taller socks!
That pattern looks really great.
Thank you!

Hello! 😊
If I want to make my socks longer, should I just increase the stitches of the ribbing (cuff)
I am powering through, hope yours turned out well!
love this pattern, how would you go about making the sock taller? quarter crew is my favorite sock length
Ok. I have tried crochet socks. But eh. Now I must try these !
Hey! I was wondering how you would adjust this pattern if I wanted to turn it into a high sock instead of an ankle sock
These socks are Sooooo cute. And your channel popped up on my RUclips feed. A good thing!
Excellent! Happy to hear that and happy you love them!
Beautiful sock will definitely try this
Hi if I wanted to make the ankle part longer, so more normal sock length, how would I do that? Thank you so much x
I love this pattern but I wanted to make the sock a little longer along the leg, any suggestions?
Help! I am visual, and am not able to understand the marker placement changes and where the 4 added SC per round appear. Do you have a pictorial on this? I don't follow the note under round 2: on each end of the oval shape, 1 st should be separating the marker (18 sts).
