(crochet) Pt1: How To Crochet Adult Socks - Yarn Scrap Friday

  • Опубликовано: 21 авг 2024
  • Today I show you how to make some adult socks, and how to adjust the pattern for your own size. The beginning is simple but it does get fiddly when working the heel, so I recommend my video tutorial on the double crochet foundation stitch here, which is a variation of the stitch used around the heel:
    • How To - Double Croche...
    Part 2: • (crochet) Pt2: How To ...
The actual size made in this tutorial is for a UK size 6-7 (US size 9 approx.) and I used a 4.0mm crochet hook and a DK/Light worsted weight yarn (yarn weight of 3).

Hii, this comment is for those people who are beginners and are trying to make socks for themselves or someone else but don't know how to do the stitch count for the custom fit. You guys are at the right place. This video has very easy method and is filmed as such you'll be able to pinpoint the stitches she's talking about. Even if you are not using her exact stitch count, you'll be able customize it for yourself easily without any confusion. This is part one of the pattern and you'll be able to find part two in your recommendations so that's also a no-brainer.
To the creater, i loved this video so much and thank you for making this so easy for me. Please keep uploading such content. I really appreciate your work. ❤️

This is the third pattern I've tried to make a sock and the first one I was able to be successful with! Your speed and frequent updates on stitch counts are extremely helpful for someone who struggles to properly count the first and last "fake" stitches, so thank you thank you thank you!

Hi from Ireland! I am a beginner. I've tried many videos and tutorials trying to make socks for the first time, and it was impossible for me. Yesterday, with your video, I finished my first sock! You are a fantastic teacher, you explain things so well. Thank you so much! I just finished my first sock for my husband, in two different sades of blue. He is size 11, so I chained 12 at the beginning instead of 9, and It worked beautifully. As I said, I am a beginner in crochet, and I have Arthritis as well, and even with that, I could follow your instructions easily and finish my first sock for a man. If I did, everybody can. And it is thanks to you. It feels so well being able to finish this project... Thank you so much!

I've just finished my first pair of crocheted socks and you were with me every step of the way. I've put them on and will probably keep them on until next Spring - I love them. They're so cosy and comfortable and surprisingly easy to make, but I think this was down to your brilliant teaching skills. Thank you so much.

Changing the size of the yarn and/or the hook will affect the product as a whole; So if you use a thicker yarn, you'll end up with something much bigger, same for the hook. Hope that helped!

But for some reason I am either short a stitch one round and have an extra stitch the next. keep redoing it coming up with same result. I am skipping the fake stitch as well as the stitch I am slipping into too. what else could I be doing wrong.

Thank you so much for this brilliant tutorial @happyberry crochet! At about 25:20, there is something I don't really understand. I noticed that each new row starts 1 stitch to the right of the previous row's first stitch, creating a diogonal seem. Now with different yarn and foot sizes, how do I manage to start the foundation chain at the right spot? Since I don't want the heel to be on top or to a side compared to the toe part, which creates a top and a bottom side to the sock. Should I just crochet part of another row until I can start the foundation chain when my active loop is where I want it to be?

Could we get written pattern. It will help tremendously in finding mistakes. This will also make it easier for me to recommend the videos to other beginners. Thanks!

This video is amazing. I've completed my first sock of the pair and now working on the second one. Do you have the pattern written down anywhere?

I’ve never crocheted before and I want to make an oversized sock to use as a hat. Any advice for translating this pattern into what I have in mind?
