Jim is talking a lot about the drug addiction like regular professional wrestling isn’t a hot bed of the same pain pill problems. Get these guys on workable schedules so they can heal their bodies in a safe way.
There is no "workable schedule" if your whole gimmick is purposely injuring yourself repeatedly for the amusement of 20-30 degenerates. While major pro wrestling definitely has some more work to do to protect and ensure the good health of their talent, generally speaking, they don't create an environment where talent is expected to excessively injure themselves every time they enter the ring.
@@thesupremepizzaking look at all the guys who have died from the 80s-90s. They weren’t doing the flippy-dos like today. And yet, a better schedule for them to take time off and not get addicted to pain meds and worse would have ensured that some of them would be alive today.
@@zakunick1 The wrestlers from the 80's and 90's had to constantly do shows nonstop in multiple different territories because the pay wasn't very good when you started out back then, so of course even if they weren't overdoing it every night, it was a heavy burden. But that doesn't happen anymore because there are no more territories, so your scheduling point is wasted hindsight. And I would also point out that in the 80s-90s, a lot of the talent had massive addiction problems long before most of them got hooked on opium pills (cocaine, alcohol, steroids, etc) so trying to say lighter scheduling would have prevented them from getting hooked on pills is a pretty big stretch.

The one thing I couldn’t get past with this episode of DSOTR was how much Nick Gage looked like Matt Hardy on meth!!
I thought watching it he's full of b.s. saying he's off the heroin, I worked with drug addicts for a while and it's so obvious he was on either heroin meth or some similar type of drug during parts of his interviews, also it's obvious his gf/wife is still on the junk too
Meth Hardy

It was my least favorite episode of the Dark Side of The Ring since the docs began. I was like, "who the F is this guy?"
@Ross Sutton The Montréal Screw Jobs has indeed been done to death, but, Dark side of The Ring had to get in on the action too.
To be fair Arquette actually did get decent with his moves and physique he put work into it
What has he played in? I haven't seen him on screen in ages

I was watching this episode with somebody and I said holy crap she has the coked out stripper twitch going, as I call it.
Melanie pillhead
Yeah she was definitely drugged out in her interview. Meth is a hell of a drug

RIP New Jack Aka Jerome Young . Gone to soon even though he even said it himself that he did so much coke his heart couldnt take it at one point. I'm surprised he lived so many years after that incident . Great entertainer and will be missed .
He was a no-talent garbage "wrestler" drug abuser who never drew a dime and won't really be missed.
@@KayFabe87 That’s not a very nice comment
@@KayFabe87 yes he will be missed. Jim Cornette was best friends with him too. So if see Jim Cornette like him even though he was a garbage wrestler, then you should like him too

"Vince McMahon would KILL to have one person who has the connection with the audience that Nick Gage has." - Jon Moxley 2021 😂😂😂
Moxley must’ve been on the same stuff Gage was on when he said that nonsense. :)
Now Mox went back to brawl with Gage.
Only if Vince is trying to target the meth head demographic.
People laughing at this quote, don't understand what was said.
And when you do, you realize Vinny Mac already has people who connect. Daniel Bryan comes to mind.
I love when Jim calls him a "bank addicted drug robber". 😄
I'm stumped by the words being in this order. What does Jim mean?
@@gordonirvine726 he means drug addicted bank robber, but he likes saying it that way. Lol
Yeah I thought it was just some Corny-to-Corny in-joke hehehe... Nice one thanks.
Bank addiction is no joke. ATMs are the gateway, but then you can’t get enough of the mints and pens on chains. There is support
I watched it just because I enjoy the program. I’d never heard of this guy and wondered what his story was.
And then I saw that he was one of those guys who mistakes torture porn “Hi my name is Johnny Indie Show and welcome wrasslin’ ass” kind of crap for wrestling and skill.
It also further illustrates why all Moxley’s matches devolve into mud show shitfest idiocy; he was actually willing to let someone stick a pizza cutter in his mouth.
So. Yeah...
For David Arquette to go into a death match saying "don't cut me" is like a long haired hippie going into the army and telling the barber "don't shave my head". Of course they're going to do it, and laugh at you while doing it!
That's about the size of it
He specifically said "just don't cut my face." You never need to cut someone's face in a wrestling match to begin with.
Every time Nick Gage talked, I cringed. By far the worst episode of Dark Side of The Ring.
What’s cringy? The guys had a rough life, it’s far from the worst, as someone that didn’t know a lot about nick gage I found it quite gripping
They guys been through shit and he’s about as real as they come. Don’t know why you’re cringing.
I quite enjoyed it. No-one is saying he's Dory Funk Jr.
The Bank Addicted Drug Robber vs Officer Dooey 😂😂😂🤣
What does Jim mean by saying he's a "bank addicted drug robber"?
Imma rewatch with shots and take one everytime jim says "bank addicted drug robber."
"That bank addicted drug robber" hahaha
Watching that episode actually made me like Nick less. It's great that he's trying to get back on track and turn his life around after hitting rock bottom, but he just seems like a guy who didn't figure out that hardcore wrestling is booked just like any other match. He just came off as insecure that "______ is tougher than me!? I'LL SHOW HIM!" when the other guys probably just wanted to have as good a match as possible for the pay they were (or weren't) getting
@@pisto30 He says that as if Brock or Cain wouldn't immediately tie him into knots if he wanted to shoot.
Didn't know anything about Nick Gage, and after seeing that episode, I don't really intend to. The episode was a nice change up, ngl, but honestly, how Moxley was trying to make Gage sound greater was cringe. Can't even compare to New Jack, RIP.

There is a documentary where David Arquette is training for this match. I watched it before the dark side came out. It's hilarious where arquette is wrestling in backyards and going to wrestling schools. And at one point he's dressed as a wizard on a horse in his backyard talking about how he wants to be taken seriously.
I don't know why the fuck I found that so funny, I laughed for five minutes. The irony of someone asking to be taken seriously while randomly dressed as a wizard atop a horse is hilarious to me.
