This is a great looking vehicle inside out. Hyundai is smart not to include some useless features like sunroof to cut cost but instead give customers useful features like heated and cool seat, 360 camera for the base trim.If they price it right. It is going to be a hit. Good job Hyundai.
Hyundai and Kia are the only ones making interesting looking vehicles . They may not be for everyone but they take risks and don’t look like everything else. Who ever designed the ionic series did a great job.
I've been saying the same thing for years. I really hate the way Honda's and Toyota's look within the past 10 years, their design teams are so bad. It's also sad that they have been using 10 year old interiors in so called new model releases, they are years behind tech and design compared to Hyundai and Kia.
It's really handsome. I love that Hyundai/Kia go all-in on both hybrids and EVs while also still making traditional sedans and crossovers. The bigger auto manufacturers are avoiding some of these segments and it's gonna bite them in the rear when the market shifts.
I like this better than the EV9. It’s tastefully styled and genuinely good looking. I’m not crazy about Hyundais pixelated lights on all their EVs, but there is some restrain here. The front side glass is very triangular… but liking it overall.
I applaud Hyundai for doing something new. And it seems now that they have a design identity, before, you feel like every car on their lineup has a different design language
The Hyundai Ioniq 9 is just absurd of how this machinery EV can take its stride to an adventure in the future years to follow. And liking how Hyundai is doing with the styling and how the overall look it has into this EV Century.💯🙌🏻
The limited supercharger number is due to the fact that North American v2 superchargers don't support the CCS protocol needed for NACS, rather than the 800V platform.
You're a rucking fetard if you truly think that. Everytime a new hyundai comes out there is always some more ron that tries to say it looks like that, looks like that. Those days are over geek. Been over for a while now. Get with the times
lol! it’s fun reading the comments. We Americans are never happy. Either auto makers are chided for making their cars super boring, or when they try to go out on a limb, and make something different and interesting, we complain that it’s too ugly. I’m not a Hyundai/Kia fan, but I do give them a 👍🏾 for trying to do something interesting and different. The ioniq9 is a nice looking vehicle inside and out.
Very impressive overall. Couple of iffy styling details on the outside, not sure why the rear tailgate opening is so "pinched", and that egg key is awful. Otherwise. Looks like a winner
I honestly don’t understand the whole Hyundai / Kia strategy.. the cars are fundamentally similar except for some cosmetic changes. Do they really have different matkets?
Do you understand GM strategy? Or VW? It is all the same, they give you the ILLUSION of choice. In reality, 80% of people don't realize that these cars are the same inside
No massaging seats? The Palisade has massaging seats and is significantly less? Tire of Korea not giving North America market the best versions of their vehicles.
More important thing Hyundai could do is make a bench true 3 seats like in Atlas for example or even better KIA Carnival. Car is great, brave design but with huge practicality. I don't need so badly Lucid Gravity in Europe :)
This car's styling reminds me of one of those MPVs that are popular in Europe and South East Asia like Fiat 500L, VW Touran or BMW 2 series Active/Grand Tourer. Somehow the hood/beltline is too high, but the roof is low? Not a good look regardless
Kind of like the Santa Fe has some design cues from a Citroen 80s concept car that I can’t remember the name of . Whoever is doing the designs has some creativity and love of 80s and 90s design .
It can, but on the outside, they look very different. Plus, with only a few competitors in the ev 3-row SUV space, they will own the segment until more automakers finally give in, since the other companies are more expensive and are luxurious.
Honestly, look at the kia ev9. That is more like an enlarged Kia Soul. This one definitely looks like a finished version of the concept from LA a few years back
The only reason Hyundai, Kia and every other manufacturer is building EVs is because they have to meet CAFE standards. EVs help their average, but companies lose money on every EV they sell. And now you know one reason why all new cars cost more.
Thank you Hyundai for making a car in colors!
This is a great looking vehicle inside out. Hyundai is smart not to include some useless features like sunroof to cut cost but instead give customers useful features like heated and cool seat, 360 camera for the base trim.If they price it right. It is going to be a hit. Good job Hyundai.
that green color and those rear lights its gonna be a good christmas tree at night
Hyundai and Kia are the only ones making interesting looking vehicles . They may not be for everyone but they take risks and don’t look like everything else. Who ever designed the ionic series did a great job.
Yeah, they look great in the dealership service bay, which is where the petrol newer cars/SUVs spend most of their time.
I've been saying the same thing for years. I really hate the way Honda's and Toyota's look within the past 10 years, their design teams are so bad. It's also sad that they have been using 10 year old interiors in so called new model releases, they are years behind tech and design compared to Hyundai and Kia.
Im so in love with this! Great job Hyundai. ❤🎉
I love how Hyundai is taking risks with this design honestly.
that front end being see thru plastic is NOT going to age well...
Risk was the santa fe. This basically looks good. Maybe the greens not everybody's color but I like it.
They are taking risks with almost all their cars. Designs are too bold, it’s either people don’t like it or people like it.
@@CalvinHikesexactly. That rear-end is so ugly in the Santa Fe.
You love ugly vehicles is what you mean to say
Very large, beautiful and practical SUV. I can't wait.
Size is matter
It's really handsome. I love that Hyundai/Kia go all-in on both hybrids and EVs while also still making traditional sedans and crossovers. The bigger auto manufacturers are avoiding some of these segments and it's gonna bite them in the rear when the market shifts.
The digital side mirrors as a cameras seems like a safety advantage to me.
it is illegal according to federal law, but that may be one good thing Trump does... Musk has been wanting the feds to update the law for the 2020s
I agree with digital cameras replacing side view mirrors as is the case in Europe already
This thing is freaken gorgeous
Hyundai ain’t playing I feel like they put out a car every month
It seems like a sleek looking premium SUV.
They hid the aerodynamic tweaks very very well with this design.
the interior design is way ahead of its japanese counterparts.
Indeed.
The Hyundai Ioniq 9 is just absurd of how this machinery EV can take its stride to an adventure in the future years to follow. And liking how Hyundai is doing with the styling and how the overall look it has into this EV Century.💯🙌🏻
Definitely the only car brand that is innovative other than its sister, Kia and Genesis.
seriously, if this has the same price or lower than EV9, it would be a much better deal with larger battery/mileage. I would def consider one
looking awesome
The limited supercharger number is due to the fact that North American v2 superchargers don't support the CCS protocol needed for NACS, rather than the 800V platform.
I would take the Ionic 9 over the ID Buzz any day of the week, especially if they are close in price
You could move the second row seats up by 6inches and still have plenty of legroom for the second row and gobs of legroom in the third row.
Hyundai cars always look much better in person
This looks like a supersized Volvo station wagon; I like it! Love that green too. Why aren't we getting that color in the US??
Because the majority of Americans like the basic colors of white, black, red, silver , etc.
Toyota dealers' jealousy exploded in the comments. 😂😂😂
Can you blame us? The EV Toyota has right now is a Subaru. LMAO.
They're doing so great, but that's one area I wish they'd modernize in.
@@KevLEXodusBots everywhere 🤣 EVs.... PLEASE 😂😂😂
Hyundai is coming with future.
Great looking car!
300 miles of range on every trim, regardless of RWD or AWD could be a strong selling point
Great review
The rear is giving Tahoe and Volvo cross country had an illegitimate love child. I’m not mad but I can’t unsee it lol
You're a rucking fetard if you truly think that. Everytime a new hyundai comes out there is always some more ron that tries to say it looks like that, looks like that. Those days are over geek. Been over for a while now. Get with the times

Clean and unique 👌
I like the green color!!
Are we still not calling these stationwagons?
Sure, it's a Stationwagon Utility Vehicle (SUV.)
Very impressive overall. Couple of iffy styling details on the outside, not sure why the rear tailgate opening is so "pinched", and that egg key is awful. Otherwise. Looks like a winner
The rear taillight shape reminds me of an early 2000s Volvo XC70/ V70
Polarizing styling. I personally like the steeply raked windshield and kammback rear with the light loop.
Do they redesign their cars every year ?
Now we know what the new palisade is gonna look like.
Looks like a minivan
Minivans are the new SUVs.
@ fair point but it is not as much in your face is my point
America: "Yay, Tint!" "NO SIDE-VIEW CAMERAS"
Korea: "Yay, side-view cameras!" "NO TINT!"
It has a retro Volvo wagon design, pretty cool.
The tail lights and rear window look a lot like a more modern Volvo XC60 SUV as well.
Can we turn up the resolution on the tail lights?
You beat the Ioniq guy and Hyundai to the reveal! 🎉
I don't hate it...🤔
interesting comments.
Good enough 👍
1:14 First time I’ve seen an EV that needs to have its snow refilled
No massaging seats? The Palisade has massaging seats and is significantly less? Tire of Korea not giving North America market the best versions of their vehicles.
Going back and forth between two models is kinda hard to follow. I do like the higher end blueish color model
Rear end does look like a 90s minivan. Hopefully the new Palisade has nice styling.
Boat tail
Actually the Palisade has 45.8 cubic feet of cargo space behind the 2nd row. This Ioniq 9 should have 1 more cubic feet of space.
More important thing Hyundai could do is make a bench true 3 seats like in Atlas for example or even better KIA Carnival. Car is great, brave design but with huge practicality. I don't need so badly Lucid Gravity in Europe :)
Carnival is a SUV-styled minivan, this is minivan-styled SUV.
Gotta go to Hi-Tops if in West Hollywood 🎉
Up to $80k!! Momma mia
Is it me, Or does the rear look like a Volvo?
The IONIQ 9 is sort of a Cadillac Escalade like electric vehicle, I thought Hyundai was gonna make the IONIQ 7 before 2025 comes.
This car's styling reminds me of one of those MPVs that are popular in Europe and South East Asia like Fiat 500L, VW Touran or BMW 2 series Active/Grand Tourer. Somehow the hood/beltline is too high, but the roof is low? Not a good look regardless
Sorry but the Ev9 took the looks win on this one
It def unique looking
Think I will wait for the Genesis.
I like the rear, other than the hyundai logo being placed in a bad spot
Looks like a Cadillac SRX from the side 😂 a mix of estate and hearse 😂
hyundai and kia cars will be able to use all tesla charging stations as they are collaborating.
I am actually not offended! LOL
The car is giving minivan. Ev9 looks cooler too me
The car looks great except for the fenders.
Rear end and its proportions kinda remind me of an early 90's minivan concept of the future 😂
Kind of like the Santa Fe has some design cues from a Citroen 80s concept car that I can’t remember the name of . Whoever is doing the designs has some creativity and love of 80s and 90s design .
In the gas version we might see the reborn of the Hyundai VERACRUZ, the Kia BORREGO and the NEW GENESIS GV90.
디자인 옆면 굴곡 suv에선 나오기 힘든 디자인 잘했다!!!
Judging from the comments I’m in the minority thinking this looks ugly. The 5 and 6 remain undefeated.
Hmm, does this not compete with the kia ev9? it's cousin?
It can, but on the outside, they look very different. Plus, with only a few competitors in the ev 3-row SUV space, they will own the segment until more automakers finally give in, since the other companies are more expensive and are luxurious.
Why not extend vehicle by 3 inches and useable 3rd row leg room
why don't tesla design interior like this, what's wrong with that.
will North American get 3 seats in the front row? a folding middle seat instead of centre console.
Now this REALLY looks like Robo Cop 😅
It looks like a Volvo concept
It kind of has Staria design language going on…
Looks like a coffin car from the back.
Leds are over kill
We missed you, Volvo XC70. Glad to see you returned as the Ioniq9, and threw in some R-class styling cues as we missed the R-class too.
the car looks like a hearse
The new Ioniq 9 looks like an enlarged Kia Soul 😭
I do agree to that, but to me, it kinda made me go: "Wait a minute, is that the concept?"
Honestly, look at the kia ev9. That is more like an enlarged Kia Soul. This one definitely looks like a finished version of the concept from LA a few years back
After seeing the Palisade, I thought the Ioniq 9 would look way better than this. To me the EV9 looks way better than this, very disappointed.
The rear lights look like Volvo wagon rear end ??? Anyone?
This looks a lot like the old Isuzu Axiom.
Green?
The only reason Hyundai, Kia and every other manufacturer is building EVs is because they have to meet CAFE standards. EVs help their average, but companies lose money on every EV they sell. And now you know one reason why all new cars cost more.
I love the futuristic design but something about it doesn’t seem realistic. It’s too round and bubbly.
Wonderful review, as always….🤙
Going back and forth between two different models isnt great but I agree he hits all the points even with the cuts between ev9s
Please mentiuon whether an EV has a heat pump. Heat pumps are a major thing on an EV. Heat pumps are way more important than frunks.
This is a Santa Fe electric ! Same dash look same arm rest same chairs same 3 rods
Interesting EV but I'll never buy one. I'm more interested in hybrids.
Who needs so much storage?
Hyundai making better designs than BMW 🤣👎🏽
The rear looks like an Entourage from two decades ago with after market Escalade taillights 😂
New cars are getting cheaper every year
"The US car won't have that." 😞
More suv… we need a van EV lol
Are SUVs resembling hearse vehicles becoming a thing now? Big no thank you Hyundai. Please do better.
