Hyundai uses NMC battery which doesnt withstand Indian heat. MG, Mahindra, Maruti, TATA all use LFP chemistry which has significantly high life cycles and better abuse in indian heat.
Mahindra XUV400 still uses NMC (new BE and XEV procures battery from BYD). Although TATA uses LFP its a first generation matrix architecture which requires continues cooling. In the low cost segment, its only citroen which uses LFP with advanced prismatic blade architecture which is fine with direct cooling (just like BYD)

A lot of what you’ve talked about in the Creta has been available these last 5 years in the Kona. If they had simply continued the Kona and given a bigger battery pack it would have been excellent. The Kona is built for EU. And in consequence, you can feel it in the quality and finish and finesse of that vehicle. I own one for the last one year and I can tell you it is first class.
Mahindra BE would be the best choice in the EV segment. The Inglo platform is brilliantly engineered. I think the Creta EV will have a base variant starting from 14 lakhs.
As a 2024 creta owner, I hope atleast the Creta EV gets a Heads-up display , ambient lighting and wireless android auto and apple carplay. These features miss on the normal Creta and Creta N-Line..
Quite a dissapointing offering from Hyundai. Really bad specs compared to Mahindra BE. Creta ICE top end models already cost more than 20 lakhs on road. They'll have to price this EV really well otherwise there's no point in buying this instead of Mahindra EVs.

Hyundai has built a solid brand image with their cars and dealership network. The after sales service experience is very satisfying and in case of even complaint, they have multiple channels to report such as phone calls from Hyundai India asking the customer for feedback on service, WhatsApp link for feedback form and a separate calls from the dealership customer support team. So I would choose Hyundai Creta any day over its competitors if priced competitively.
If the claimed range is 473 kms, the the real world range should be around the 300 km mark as usually real-world range tends to be two-third of the manufacturer's claims.
It will be a big failure due to low range and it can't compete with at least Mahindra BE vehicles . The only way Mahindra can fail is through their service centres . BE are very software based care and there's where Tata and Mahindra service centres fail
Mahindra has changed the game. If Hyundai priced this anywhere close to BE then it'll fail. Creta EV will have to be priced significantly lower than Creta ICE top model in order to stand a chance. This is a far inferior vehicle than Mahindra EVs.

EV cannot be priced below ICE cars for atleast next 5 yrs and that too depends on a lot of external factors not in control of the car companies. Any new tech is inherently expensive till it reaches maturity before economics of scale kicks in.
Hyundai should get some inspiration from Geoff (aka Hammerhead Eagle i-Thrust) and provide a small diesel genset alongside the car for urgent charging needs

We need strong hybrid cars not born EVs, imho. The Indian infrastructure lacks the tech needed for born EVs. I do understand the complexity needed for strong hybrids but I feel, companies are missing the point here. Born EVs are costlier to develop and are not Environment friendly enough to justify the complete shift from ICEs. It's the new fade and more people will realise it in the coming years.

whereas EV subsidy in next 20y will allow it to become cheaper than ice
whereas if same subsidy is divided between ev and hybrid, then not only ev will take longer to become cheaper but you will waste money on hybrid which anyway can never become cheaper than ice or ev
