This is the best instruction I've seen on this. The door is not sealed. Condensation will run down the wires. When you remove the connector, notice there's a WIRE DRIP LOOP below the speaker. This prevents the water running into the speaker. Make sure you make another on your new mods. For extra protection, cut up a zip lock type plastic bag and cover the back of the speaker. Mount the speaker in place and trim the excess plastic.
Thanks for making this video, it really helped me with my 2010 Silverado. I'm so glad you mentioned which wires were positive and negative. You saved me some time for sure. I soldered mine in with heat shrink and also added a little plastic hood to the top to prevent water from dripping onto the new speakers.
Great information!! No one else explains the wiring configuration like he does clearly. Did not had to pay for the speaker base because this video was very informative in how to install the speakers. Thank you
I did the modification for the rear speaker brackets. My friend ordered stuff and didn't get the new brackets. I used pliers and just snapped the ring off instead of using a dremel. It works good also. Thanks for the video cause I would have never thought of doing this.
Great video. I wanted to upgrade my speakers in my Silverado for a few years now and today on Black Friday or cyber Monday, I’m getting some speakers and going to do it. Thanks great video. I wish I came across this sooner
Might be a good idea to use a vice to hold the part in a vice to keep safe - or temporarily screw it down to a piece of scrap wood if you don't have a vice. Great Post!
Just finished this up on my 07 2500 HD. It is a little more difficult on the power window/locks model. The back doors are still super easy but the front you have to be patient and work within that tight space because the panel won't move much like on the manual window model. Front was 6 1/2s and the rear fit 5 1/4s. Thanks for this video rtkota5point9. Saved about $40 bucks using this trick!!!
My buddy did this while replacing my door speakers in my 95 GMC Sierra. It’s a cool time saving trick that fits like factory. I’ll be doing the same on my 2011 Silverado 2500hd. Great video and great advice for folks looking for a easy upgrade. 🤘😎🤘
This video was super helpful. I used a Dremel rotary tool to cut the bracket down and clean up the edges. Screws went in easy and I had no problems with clearance when putting it all back together.
thanks for the vid dude, this saved me from spending another hour trying to get the window crank without breaking it. all the other videos had people with automatic.
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I picked some infinity door speakers for my 2010 suburban and you saved me $50 bucks by not needing to go to best buy to pick up 4 damn brackets. 👍
A thousand thanks, your video was awesome, saved me time and money. I used a cutting blade on my 4" Makita to cut the face lip off the speaker mount and it took a minute per bracket. Thanks again.
Thanks for making this video. I changed my rear speakers today. I had to do a little bit more modification for the speakers I bought, but this video was a lot of help.
Thanks for the identification of the wires sure it wouldn't have been crazy difficult to determine which is which but you made it even easier. Awesome thanks
Larry Belles I am considering replacing the factory speakers in my truck and I was wondering if you can tell a noticeable difference after you changed your speakers? Thanks
Thanks for the great video! This is just what I have been looking for in order to replace my dead rear speakers. You made this look so simple that this project just moved up the list and I will be tackling it soon.
Really helpful didn’t use the factory brackets didn’t have them last owner butchered the shit I fixed with cutters and black tape,I used the new brackets from the speakers Walmart special pioneers 6 1/2 all 4 Speakers about hour and a half time
thank you so much for this video! I have a corolla so it's different (the speaker mount is held on with rivets and I don't even want to touch that) but all the corolla videos i found left out the details of attaching the new speaker to the mount, and I wasn't sure which part of the mount the speaker was supposed to meet up with. I think the corolla mount is a little different but still, it helps. thanks!!
I added the same speakers to my 08 duramax . now the system sounds weak. I Its equipped with bose. I think the bose amp doesn't have enough power to push them. any ideas on how to fix this
thanks. this video really helped me. My only gripe is i have to find 2 new knobs, because mine dry rotted, and the area where the speaker is isnt tight enough. But atleast i have music...lol
I was pretty sure this could be done but not a 100% on how well or easy it would be. I like this way better because all the adapters I have found were not as thick as the factory
I have a 07 tahoe but the speakers dont have the gray thing behind them i think the first owner took em out what can i do for that problem? Sorry i dont know much about cars but id like to fix this one up nice for my family.
I used your trick and modified the factory speaker bracket, but instead of soldering I used factory harness adapters. How are you supposed to protect those plug in connections from moisture?
Can you comment on the quality of the factorty bose speakers as part of the factory bose system.? It looked like you were replacing a really low grade speaker. I have always wanted more out of the system but didn't want to change too much out if it was going to be a big job and expense that would not give much improvement with the head unit and hidden amps. And do I need to worry about using different speakers with the what I have been told are OEM/bose amps? I have a NBS 2017 Sierra SLT with the basic AM/FM/AUX/CD/XM head unit with bose speakers and amps.
Just bought a 2008 Silverado 1500 LT CCSB, nice truck but 1/2 the speakers in the cab don't work. Going to be upgrading all the speakers and adding a 12" sub. This video will come in handy for sure, thanks!
Do these coaxial speakers work properly even though this truck originally had components? Did you have to disconnect the factory tweeter? And do the new speakers sound good?
What about the tweeters in the A-pillar? Did you simply disconnect them to let your Alpine coax do all of the work? If so, how do you go about doing that?
@@jamesearlcash7725 I had to buy the aftermarket adapters cause the component style mid bass speakers won't fit in the cut outs in the original speaker pods , component style mid bass speakers are 6&1/2 cone diameter as apposed to 6&1/2 outside diameter.

Mine are just taking a shit. So your new ones are 6 3/4 the stock are 6 1/2? No problems as far as fitting when you went to put the door panel back on?
Jeff may Yes. somebody actually mentioned it on here. You can use a pair of pliers and just work around the ring and snap the lip off. it actually breaks off pretty clean to the edge. Much quicker than a Dremel. You can clean up any rough edges with a bench grinder, file, sandpaper etc.
Good vid! Watched it a couple days ago, bought 4 6.5" speakers, cut the brackets, like in the video, but my speakers wont mount as nice as yours... Damn... Lol The mounting holes seem too wide to catch all 4 screws and the speaker doesn't sit down in the bracket far enough to be flush... Looks like the cage is stopping it from sitting down far enough... Oh well, looks like il be modifying them even further!
Thanks for making this video. This is a weird question, but is that factory carpet in your drivers floor or is that just a piece you cut and put in there? I have a base model truck as well and have been considering carpet but would consider just making a piece fit if I could do it cheaply and look decent.
