    Barbara, you,my dear, are a force of nature! The pattern is glorious and asymmetrical and, did I mention glorious? Good, I wasn't sure for a minute. I think I'm going to end up doing this in light fingering weight - something bright but not too glaringly sunny...
    I'm off to Ravelry to buy a copy! What a great way to start a Monday off!!!! Thank you, once again for being the kind force of nature that you are!

    Back in the late 70s and early 80s there was a trend for fuzzy sweaters. A friend gifted me a fuzzy pink sweater for Christmas. It made my eyes water. I felt like I had an eyelash or something in my eye. I maybe should give a bit of mohair a try again. I love this pattern. I should try to combine black silk with a light coloured mohair.

    Oh, my goodness, me! Your story brought tears... I am so impressed that you “persevered” right through to the end... Many others would have given up, in despair.But not you. Where did your inner strength come from?
    The result of your hard work, and perseverance is truly remarkable...and so beautiful. I wish I had the talent, and vision, to knit it. It’s just so “you”... Congratulations on a job well done.

    Wow! That shawl really earned its name. I think I would have given up long before. I do remember when you said your husband and put your yarn bag through the wash and that special yarn was totally messed up. I remember you saying that you're just going to set it down for awhile and walk away. I have to do that sometimes with some of my projects it's the only sane way to deal with them. Thanks again for another wonderful and entertaining video Barbara. Take care.

    Noòoooooooooooooooo my jaw dropped when you said your knitting got thrown in the wash. I totally understand that feeling of losing interest in a project after something goes wrong. I also went nooooooooooo when you said you had to frog back - I had to look that one up - so many repeats and I felt so bad for you. However I was also encouraged. I thought if this can happen to Barbara it's certainly normal when, not if but when, it happens to me. So you've encouraged me without even trying. 😄 And as always, thanks for the giggles.

    Hi Barbara, This is so beautiful a pattern, hope more people know this pattern! By the way, is it a beginner friendly pattern? Thanks a lot.

    • @WatchBarbaraKnit
      @WatchBarbaraKnit  4 года назад +1

      It really depends on your definition of beginner. If you have just learned to knit and purl, then no - this might not be the pattern for you as it does involve lace. But I have often found that people refer to themselves as a beginner when they really are not. If you've done some lace, can read a pattern, and can keep a consistent row count then you could probably tackle this one as a challenge.

      @@WatchBarbaraKnit Thanks Barbara, yes I knit two laces before and I know all stitches you advised on Ravelry, I think I am safe to try. :) added this to my next coming project. :)

      I am so glad you like the pattern! While I do tutorials for tricky elements of patterns I do not create step by step tutorials on RUclips for full patterns. If I were to do that then there would be no reason for anyone to actually purchase the patterns. And if no-one purchased patterns I'd be out of a job LOL!

  • @IslandLady76
    @IslandLady76 4 года назад

    When I first saw this I passed on it because of the mohair. I'm allergic to mohair and angora. Do you think it would still work with one strand of fingering?

    • @WatchBarbaraKnit
      @WatchBarbaraKnit  4 года назад

      100% it will work with just the fingering weight yarn. And it will be beautiful. If you like the fuzz you might want to look into Malabrigo Silkpaca - it has a similar effect but it is a laceweight silk/alpaca blend.

    So you are looking for a new husband, as I presume you murdered him. 😂😂
    I hope he made you breakfast in bed every weekend for a good few weeks.
    My husband had me in stitches the other night. We was watching a film and I realised that I had dropped a stitch. He started looking around me and under my chair. When I asked him what he was doing, with a big grin. I'm looking for your lost stitch😏😏. He knew what meant but w as being clever!
    Men! Lol
    Stay safe and healthy. xxJane
