My biggest stumbling block is sharing. I love the scripture, I love to hear great sermons, I love praying to my Lord Jesus. However when I try to tell someone about Him my point is usually missed, concepts are taken out of context, and people are usually more confused than anything. Are some people just meant to work silently for his purposes? I know not all are meant to teach but it would have been great to commune more closely with my family about Him before we all got old ... etc. I've always had communication issues on almost every topic so it isn't just this subject, but I struggle fighting the doubt it brings. I rest on the idea that it is the Holy Spirit's job to evangelize my folks, not mine.

Question is, what are the people you want to witness to trusting in for their salvation? Do they even believe in Jesus etc. Start in the basement and work your way up from there. How do I know that I’m saved?
    1 John 2:3-5
And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
But whoso keepeth his word, in him
verily is the love of God perfected:
hereby we know that we are in him.

    God says.

    • @robmarshall956

What do you think of this article I just read ?
“Commenting on 1 John 2:3 and wondering how anyone can be said to know God if the prerequisite for knowing God is keeping his commandments, Calvin replied:
To this I answer, that the Apostle is by no means inconsistent with himself; since before showed that all are guilty before God, he does not understand that those who keep his commandments wholly satisfy the law (no such example can be found in the world), but that they are such as strive, according to the capacity of human infirmity, to form their life in conformity to the will of God. For whenever Scripture speaks of the righteousness of the faithful, it does not exclude remission of sins, but on the contrary begins with it.
In this short paragraph we find much wisdom for navigating the sanctification debates in our own day. Calvin does not want to sidestep the whole point of 1 John 2:3. He acknowledges (as he must in order to be biblical) that obedience is a necessary component of Christian discipleship and of our Christian identity. And how does this fit with the earlier statements about our continuing sinfulness? Notice four points in Calvin’s response.
      1. He does not take the language of “keep[ing] his commandments” to be a reference to sinless perfection. The obedience John expects of the Christian is not the obedience of fully satisfying the law of God. We need a category for non-meritorious, flawed, stumbling, but genuine obedience. Through his Son, God is pleased to accept that which is sincere, although accompanied with many imperfections (WCF 16.6).
      2. He includes repentance as one aspect of holy living. Walking in the light means not only avoiding the deeds of darkness, but being honest about our sins and running to Christ for forgiveness and cleansing (1 John 1:5-7). Keeping the commandments requires a daily turning from sin and turning to Christ.
      3. He is not embarrassed by the language of moral exertion. We must be passionate about pursuing Christlikeness. We must make an effort to be obedient to God’s commands. We should try hard to be holy. The Spirit will not allow us to be negligent, but will enable us to be diligent in stirring up the grace of God within us (WCF 16.3).
      4. And yet, even this striving will be marked by weakness. The best we can do is to strive “according to the capacity of human infirmity.” As Calvin says later, while we will not love God perfectly we should nevertheless “aspire to this perfection according to the measure of grace given unto [us].”
Granted, there is much more to be said about sanctification than what Calvin touches upon in a few sentences. But affirming these four points-and not just affirming them in a statement of faith, but preaching them, tweeting them, writing about them, and commending them-would go a long way toward establishing a balanced and biblical approach to Christian discipleship. We strive, we aspire, we obey. We struggle, we sin, we repent. If our doctrine of sanctification does not embrace all this we are out of step with Calvin, out of step with the Reformed tradition, and, most importantly, out of step with the Bible itself.”

It also says that no one can come unto the father unless the spirit draws him or her. You at some point responded to the faith and the drawing of the holy spirit. You desire to be forgiven of you sins. Jesus took care of that. You desire to know God, the Bible is your best source, you desire relationship with God, he has given you the mighty gift of prayer. You desire to live rightly, the holy spirit enables us to do that. If you will surrender your will, pick up your cross and be a true follower of christ, this matter will forever be settled in your heart and mind. I love Jesus, I want to be saved, I want to do the things he commands, but i feel like im not saved. I do see some change. I hate that i sin, i feel broken and wish i didnt sin, but for some reason, i woke up this morning and the past couple mornings with anxiety over this...i broke down and cried this morning in prayer and all i could say was "im sorry God, please for give me." Over and over....it didnt make me feel any better...i feel like something is wrong with me and i can never be saved....whats wrong with me? I dont feel happy anymore and i feel like i just want to die. Because if im not saved and cannot be saved, what is the point in going on? I mean, these days 95% of the battle is affirming a biblical worldview. Do you truly believe that faith in Christ is necessary to be saved? And do you truly believe that all who do not have such faith are sinners who are under the condemnation of a holy God? If you believe this, trust Christ! If you do not believe this, you need to figure out why you don’t believe this - and you probably need to repent and pledge to conform your worldview to what the Bible reveals to be the truth. And ultimately, if you decide to reject the biblical view, you can have no assurance.

In “The Atonement", "divine justice is satisfied with the death of Christ". And God (Father) offers “PARDON AND SALVATION” (NOT ETERNAL LIFE yet - occur in “The Adoption”) to all men, upon REPENTANCE and FAITH” (Mark 1:15). But if the “believing sinners” take up the offer, they still have to “WORK OUT YOUR OWN SALVATION WITH FEAR AND TREMBLING”, Php. 2:12-13 (not by own works of righteousness but by yielding to God’s Plan - that is, to “accept and be willing to conform” - the “Law of Spiritual Gravitation”, Romans 8:1-2,13). This is what Charles Spurgeon (1834-1892) meant. He understood the Scriptures, when he said, "While others are congratulating themselves, I have to lie humbly at the foot of the Christ's cross and marvel that I am saved at all."
“Eternal salvation” was “foreordained” in God’s Plan - “Election and Foreordination”
“God did FOREORDAIN and devise a PLAN from the foundation of the world by which He would SAVE man, and further, He did FOREORDAIN from the beginning, all men throughout the ages who WOULD ACCEPT and BE WILLING to CONFORM to this PLAN, should be SAVED; so that everyone in HARMONY with His power and liberty of choice who shall CHOOSE ETERNAL LIFE THROUGH GOD’S PLAN was FOREORDAINED to ETERNAL SALVATION.”
“Adoption is an act (prerogative) of God (Father) whereby the believing sinner is received into the family of God, with all the rights and privileges of His children in which he becomes an heir of God with a right and title to ETERNAL LIFE.” (2Cor. 6:17-18 = Ezek.11:19-20; Romans 8:19, 23; 1Thes.4:4-14-18).
'Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, WORK OUT YOUR OWN SALVATION WITH FEAR AND TREMBLING, for it is God (by trusting in Christ the Holy Spirit) who is working in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure’ (Php. 2:12-13).
What Dr. Harry L. Reeder III explanation in “Do I have saving faith?” (or, "Am I BEING saved?") concurs with the “Election and Foreordination”.

@@minorsingingairhead it's true that there are moments in a believers life where they may walk as unbelievers or fall into sin, but that will not be the overall pattern of their life.
One cannot say they know Him and walk in darkness, else he is a liar. Sinless perfection is not the issue, but a pattern of personal and growing Holiness and conformity to the image of the Lord Jesus is what is being addressed.
The unbiblical doctrine of the "carnal Christian" is nothing more than a license for someone to live in sin without conviction.

@@ronkelley1490 Carnal Christians are a sad reality. But sure, it can give some immature Christians a license to sin. But that person will have to face the consequences. "Knowing him" in 1. John should not be understood in the sense of "you are not saved, if you life a certain way." It is about intimacy with Christ in fellowship, or experiential knowledge.
To say, a true Christian will not live continually in a sinful manner is a useless doctrine, since, even if true, as I said, 1) unbelievers can live their whole lives like good Christians, and 2) only you and God know about the eternal destiny of your soul. Good works as "necessary evidence for salvation" are enemies to the faith that only looks to Christ for salvation. By the way, I'm not saying demonstrating your faith in good works is unimportant (see James). So many long answers, for such a simple question: believe on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved. That's all one has to do! If that belief is true, evidence will follow, 2 Cor. 5:17. NO believer EVER has to doubt their salvation. Ever! Nothing can ever separate us from the love of Christ. We are not saved by evidence of our works. We are saved by simple faith in Jesus Christ. Now, does that mean I just run out and can continue practicing sin over and over. Of course not. I agree with you on All one needs to do is believe on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ
The problem is the majority of people don’t understand what all that entails. They know not what that really means
They are taught it’s no more than a one time prayer
      No repentance at all

Is repentance not required to be saved ?

If you truly believe in your heart, and have received Christ as your Savior, John 1:12, you will repent of your sins, and you will live a new life. How do I know this? Because the Word of God tells us so, 2Cor. 5:17. True faith in Jesus Christ will lead to sincere repentance.

@@lukegroves5506 Actually Luke, we are not saved by the "evidence of our works". We are saved by FAITH in our Lord Jesus Christ. Not by works of righteousness which we have done. God says " all our good works are as filthy rags".

"How can I confirm whether I am truly saved?"
Kind Sirs...the answer to that constant question is the simplest thing any one could ever be...Because Jesus (who IS the ONLY true God Almighty that will ever be) said this...
John 3:15 That whosoever believes in Jesus shall not perish in hell, but have eternal life. John 3:16 For God (Jesus) so loved the world, that he gave his only name: "begotten* Son", that whosoever believes in Jesus shall not perish in hell, but have everlasting life.
So World: Do you, believe IN and Worship, Jesus (who is the name of the true God for 2,000 yrs)? Huh? IF your answer is YES! And you are saved forever regardless of any thing you do. Believe it or not. For Jesus said this in...
John 10:28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
And hear this: the words "Eternal and Everlasting" can never be Un eternal and/or Un everlasting. Because their very meaning is forever. Believe it or not. And that is why Jesus used those 2 absolute words, I believe! And Praise Jesus Holy Name!
End of Story and I rest me case...
...In any case kind Sir, Please Pray OFTEN and Praise Jesus OFTEN; for He is the ONLY true "God Almighty"; there will ever have been. And may Jesus bless you and yours always. AMEN!
    * Since Jesus was the Son, the Father and the Holy Spirit; at the same time; HOW was He going to address Himself; in all of His espousal's; that He was about to do in 3 yrs? Huh?
So, He chose to be "the Son". For IF He had told them He WAS God; they would've Killed him YESTERDAY! And stomped on His body until it was NO more! So our precious Jesus "laid low"! As though He was like us. So He could get his "Heavenly messages"; where they could understand. For in...
Matthew 19:26 Jesus said, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

      You gotta keep reading sir
Repentance isn’t necessary to be saved?
      We both know it is
So don’t just quote John 3:16

John 3:16. Whosoever believes IN him shall be saved It’s not whosever believes OF him
And to believe IN him means
      Belief
      Repentance
      Baptism
      Faithfulness
Not just a thought in one’s mind that they believe he died on a cross for your sins
We need to show that we believe that by a change
      Must also repent
Acts 2:21. Peter said who ever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved
Peter replied. Did Peter tell them a lie?
      Of course not
He continues on in Acts 2
They ask what must we do?
He tells them HOW to call on the name of the Lord to be saved
      Acts 2:38
Repent and be baptized for the forgiveness of sins
      Acts 2:41. Acts 2:47
They were all added. All those who were being saved
Why would we be saved any other way ?
Belief is doing everything else we are commanded to do. Period

@@jessyjonas4988 This title was inspired by a 182-line poem by an English poet named Francis Thompson (1859-1907). The title was often used by Puritans to refer to God, because it descriptively tells of God’s relentless pursuit of man.
Thompson’s poem was first published in 1893 and it gained popularity in the early 1900s when it was recognized and affirmed by G. K. Chesterton and J. R. R. Tolkien. Chesterton said, “it is the most magnificent poem ever written in English,” to which Tolkien responded by saying Chesterton was not giving the poem the credit it deserves.
The poem borrows language from the British hunt called Hare Coursing. Hare Coursing is the pursuit of hares by two dogs, predominantly greyhounds.
“with unhurrying chase, And unperturbèd pace, Deliberate speed, majestic instancy…”
The poem is based on a passage in Psalm 119. In verses 65-72, the psalmist is reviewing his life and sees a person who disobeyed God’s word. The psalmist understands that God afflicted him for a good purpose and, in doing so, took him from disobedience to obedience. God broke him down and brought him to his knees in order to draw him to his Creator in faith and trust.
To make the parallel with the Holy Spirit now being considered a canine is, well I will let you term the descriptive )
