[HOW-TO] Install OFFICE 2019 PROFESSIONAL PLUS when using VOLUME LICENSE Product Key

If you are wondering how to download and install Microsoft Office 2019 Professional Plus through the Volume License Service Center, then this video will show you how to do just that. The old way of burning it to a disk no longer works through the Volume Licensing Service Center. This one took me a while to figure out, but I show you how to setup the configuration file so you just have to do it once, and then you can install it easily as many times as you need to.
1.) Office Deployment Tool: www.microsoft.com/en-us/downl...
2.) Download Configuration File (scroll down to Step Four on this page) - www.techsoup.org/support/arti...
For simplicity, use these instructions for your own use after you setup your configuration file:
1. Open CMD prompt from the Windows explorer window where the "OfficeSetup" folder is located (type CMD in address bar). Click in the address bar of where the OfficeSetup folder is located and type CMD, then hit enter.
2. Type this in the cmd line: setup /download configuration.xml (The file will download in the background. You won't notice any change until new line appears in CMD line.)
3. Now, type this in the cmd line whenever it finishes downloading: setup /configure configuration.xml (It will now begin to install. You do not need to enter the license key, as it is already in the installer file.)

Your video was extremely helpful except I got to the point where we got it installed and it never activated. There is a place to go in and change the product key. Keep left but it didn't recognize the volume license key that we took out of VSLC. Just in case you're going to ask, I did put the key in in place of the PID in the config file so it should have installed with that key, just not sure why we can't get it to activate. Any suggestions?

Hi there, Thank you for your video. Is there any reason why after the setup /configure configuration.xml I get the Microsoft " we are getting things ready" and it gets stuck there for ever ... I have tried on several PCs ( even very fast i9 with nvme)

Just one sugession. If you place the OfficeSetup folder in any other location instead of C:\ drive, we also need to update that path in the configuration.xml file under SourcePath option, otherwise it won't start the downloading office.

Thank you for this! The link for the xml files did not work, so I typed my own from yours, and modified accordingly. It took a few times to get it to work with my setup since I had to install pro, and I also needed to remove the Channel part, since I got an error and MS documentation for config options said that is optional.
Glad you were able to modify it to get it to work! This installation can be tricky.
I got mine from the Office Admin center it was a KMS one.....

I've honestly never tried that method. I've only done it on the same computer. I'd say it's worth a shot. If you try it and it works, I'd be curious to know the result!

I purchased office professional plus 2019 for 1 pc from Groupon. After a long call to Microsoft I was told I need a VLA which was not mentioned on Groupon website. Do I need it for this as it is only for 1 pc?
I'm not sure why they are mentioning a VLA, or volume license agreement, to you since it's just for one computer. To my knowledge, they don't sell volume license keys on Groupon, so I'm not sure why the Microsoft representative would even mention a VLA to you. I'm going to assume they were confused or misunderstood. I recommend giving them another call and speaking to another rep.
Will this work if I already have Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2019 installed? Because I got it installed and keep getting a trolly 'License isn't Genuine' message whenever I open up my Microsoft Word.
I would first go to File - Account - Change Product Key, and then re-input your License Key. If that doesn't clear the message, then you may wan to uninstall it, and re-install it using this method where you setup the License Key in the installer file vs adding it after the installation. If you still get the message, I'd check with Microsoft just to verify there isn't an issue with the product key itself.
what would be the final download size after entering first command?
It will ultimately end up over 3GB after it downloads and retrieves its updates.
what about reinstall on same PC. like windows 10 it takes key automatically or we have to do same process again
You’ll have to do the process of re-installing from the configuration file again. The validation for the license only comes from that key and is not stored if the program is uninstalled or you re-install windows. Hope that makes sense.

I haven't tried setting up the configuration file without inputting a product key, but you might try that. Just follow the steps with the product key blank. I have no idea how that's going to work because I haven't tried it for myself, so this would be a test run. - You might just try an uninstall/reinstall as well with your original config file you setup.
Hi. Had trouble at the Volume License Service Center. They asked me for a registration and 2 serial numbers, and could not make it from there. can you help me?
Is this happening before or after you have access to the .exe file? It sounds like it may possibly be an issue with the account in which you'd need to contact their support from the Help page for assistance.

I need to install Office 2019 on 15 laptops. Is your example something that I will need to do separately on each one? The laptops are not on a network. What is the best way to proceed?
The configuration setup needs to be done just once. But once you have your configuration file, you'll need to run it separately on each computer. You will need Internet access for this method to work because it fetches the program from Microsoft's servers. I haven't experimented with a way to do it offline.
I use this method multiple times a week and it takes me about 10 minutes on each one, including waiting time (depends on your Internet speed and computer's performance.)
The way I did it was put the configuration file/folders that I made on a flash drive. Then I copied the 2 commands (the 'download' and the 'configure' commands also listed in the description) to a notepad file so I can just copy and paste those into the command line once you get to that step. You just paste the download one in the command line, then a few minutes later after it's downloaded, you paste the configuration one, and then it installs pretty quickly.

when I run the configure command it tries to install office 365 instead of 2019
Unfortunately, I made the mistake of purchasing a brand new DVD copy of 2019 Pro Plus from a seller on Ebay and believed the seller who said that I could activate it online at no charge. There was no 25 alphanumeric code on a label outside or inside the box. The seller does reply to my emails for help or refund. And Ebay can't or won't help either. And my credit card company keeps hanging up on me when I try to dispute this purchase. Any way that I can at least activate this for home use?
Hi Greg - sorry to hear about what happened with your Ebay purchase. Unfortunately, there are too many scammers out there. I don't have experience activating it with another method; however, I did find this article which looks interesting. - shorturl.at/pT069 - If it doesn't work, you may end up needing to purchase a key from Microsoft.
I just follow the instructions and it worked perfectly on my windows computer, I have a Volume licence key and I am allowed to install up to 10 users. Do you have the same process but for Mac? anyone else who can help?
Throw up the .BATsignal! This is a job for .BATman. I kid, I kid… we created a bat file that we keep in the folder. Just click to run. … usually. Here I am without a copy that includes the .bat file and can’t remember the @$&+*!! commands. Your video got me there (and I feel stupid for it). Thanks!!

You’ll have to reinstall office 2019 with that configuration file again if you reinstall windows, but just save your configuration file, and you won’t have to redo that part again. The hard part is done after you set that up. Just put it on a flash drive.

Unfortunately, this is the only way I've found to do it for Office 2019.
Why its already 40 minit at cmd first line
The first command line is to download it from the internet. It could take a while depending on your internet speed. If it doesn’t work after a long time, reboot and try it again. Just be sure to give it plenty of time.

Possibly a network disruption at the time you were trying to download it? I'd recommend restarting the computer, re-establishing a new Internet connection, and give it another try. I haven't experienced that error before while installing it, but I'm usually hard-lined into the network for greater stability.
I'm stuck at "We're Getting Things Ready", been like this since yesterday...
I recommend restarting your computer, then check to see if it Office installed and the programs open without any issues. If there was an issue, uninstall (if it shows up in your programs list), and then try running the installer again.
