This wide-ranging interview of Brad, Dan and Jared at the start of 2023's training camp was very prophetic, and aged very well based on the great year the team went on to have. The look back at the prior two years, and then starting with the year with the win over KC on the road, and ending with 2 playoff wins served as complete validation for how these guys were handling their newfound success to end the 2022 season. Yet being humble about the work ahead, and staying focused on what they needed to be successful in 2023. Certainly gives a fan confidence that the 2024 team is in great hands.
Out of the 4-5 years our last GM Bob Quinn was here, I maybe saw two interviews of him. The staff we have put together is just fascinating, transparent, and gritty
What I admire most about the whole Lions turn around is the attention to detail that GM Brad Holmes, HC Dan Campbell give to each and every single player and each position. I've never seen this before and certainly not in Detroit. Just listen to their interviews. They, especially Campbell, go into great detail about every player. I've been A Detroit Lions Fan since they played at Tiger Stadium. I've seen ALL the inept coaching and GMs like Matt Millen who couldn't even remember what their "stars" did 15 minutes ago. Holmes has drafted the perfect players for Campbell and his staff. Last year once Goff mastered OC Ben Johnsons offense, especially playing from under center, he went 15 TDs 0 picks and the team went 8-2. I believe that The NFL chose The Lions to open the season against The Chiefs was because of that last, nationally televised, game against Aaron Rodgers and The Green Bay Packers. The Lions, who were mathematically eliminated even before kick off, played hard, active, and confident. 3rd round pick Kerby Joseph intercepted Aaron Rodgers, his 3rd time last season, and The Lions offense was popping. Joseph is a testimony to how well The Lions have scouted and drafted under Holmes. Amon Ra St Brown was also a 3rd round pick and he's on the verge of being a super star. This year I believe they have mined another diamond in the rough. Y'all watch out for DT Broderick Martin. I've have never been more excited to be A Detroit Lions Fan. Campbell and Goff are great, but for me Brad Holmes is the biggest reason for the Lions' newly founded winning culture. He has slowly but surely put together a near elite squad in the draft/free agency and has hardly missed on anyone he's brought in. I hope he sticks around for a long time.
Goff was a broken man when he got here. Dan built him back up and restored his confidence. Now, the sky's the limit. Goff is in the perfect situation now. The culture has been totally changed thanks to Spielman, Campbell, Holmes, etc.. Thank you Sheila!
All started and is driven by / with SFH. She turned these jokers loose and fully supports every one in the Pride, from the janitor up. Thanks Shiela! Sooo glad I have season tickets.
Great interview. It's going to be interesting to hear Goff and Stafford's perspective about the trade as the years go by. I know I've been proven wrong I thought Goff wasn't good and we were being forced to take him for the trade to go through figured this rebuild would take about 5 years and was not excited about the Campbell hire. I'm so glad i was wrong. Could not be more happy with the job these coaches, players, and owners have done with the mess they took over. When Holmes and Campbell got to Detroit all they were was a good OLINE and a bunch of overpaid former Patriots that never perfomed. The team they have no bears no resemblance to that mess.
It's the people that make a difference. Brad talks about it here. It's all about being ready and willing to do what is takes. For years this didn't happen with the Lions. Sure they had some good players but never a good team from top to bottom. They have that now. The Lions cuts will end up on other rosters that is something I have never seen before with the Lions. Will they win? I don't know, but I do know they will compete on every down.
When Dan said they were all in it together and that builds confidence ... that's so true anywhere. Some of my best times in my (mundane, not sports 🙂) carrier were very much like that. We were all in it together. It felt great and we had confidence that we could pull through anything. So ... yeah. This is great that they are talking that way!
It's about time I am a true blue Lions fan since the 80s great job with from the top to the bottom New Management new new players let's go Detroit!!!!!
Dan said something important (paraphrasing): We don't have guys that can't handle this; mentally tough and scrappers. Even if the Lions do great in 2-3 years and some of the guys on the team aren't on the team then, I still believe that they deserve something (maybe not a ring, but something); they helped build the staircase to success.
They're rewriting the blueprint. Teams are going to be copying their formula. GM's are going to start doing the same "reaching" that the Lions have done to get "Dan Campbell guys". Seattle KNEW the Lions were going to take Devon Witherspoon and they snatched him away. In the future, this will happen more often. The Lions aren't getting guys like Jack Campbell and Sam LaPorta so easily. Sam especially was like the third ranked TE in the draft but was the first taken, a huge part of that was because of his personality. And Sam is already a favorite among his teammates. You get guys excited to go into practice and hangout with people they respect and have fun with, you're going to turn into a winner. The foundation Brad and Dan are building is solid as a rock.
I agree that people will try and copy their formula. This is going to be a hard formula to copy. It's not a schematical thing to copy. Brad is looking into the soul of these guys and finding if they have what it takes to get the job done. Like he said, it's easy to find talented players but its hard to find the right talented players.
You're right. Baseball's Oakland A's & Billy Beane, relative to player acquisition, followed the then unpopular & untested Bill James philosophy of picking players that got on base the most & it transformed them into a yearly contender. Now the A's are no longer alone in doing things that way - and it shows with their W/L record. Today the whole of MLB acquires players according to the Oakland system, ending the A's corner on that market. The Lions have a player acquisition philosophy that clearly works incredibly well. It WILL be copied, if it isn't already, with the same result for us that it has been for Oakland. The Lions getting the kind of players BH & DC most covet is about to become significantly more difficult.
What a shame that Jamo is the exception to the "character guy" theme. It's a big loss for this offense, but we'll manage. Let's hope he's learned his lesson and comes back on a mission.
Remember when Dan Campbell said he wanted kneecap biters? Then one of his TEs got mollywhopped in practice and suddenly he says it’s too much? Yeah. Good times!
@@thomaswatkins3686 Now this is just between us? The play before that one of his coaches screamed at the player that did it who stopped from hitting a teammate violently before that …he did it and he’s still here and the TE was fired

I am a 67 year old Lions fan...been following them and dissing them my whole life. I have NEVER seen a Lions team as united and as one, as this team. Win lose or draw... I am so happy to see this!
Dissing them is part of the reason they've been a tough team to root for, you're making the team worse when you do. It's hard to hope, but you do it anyway, always hope. Fair weather fans hold a team down as much if not more than they do themselves. A true "fan" doesn't diss their team.
Remember the last many years, they would have crummy seasons but always tried to win the final game to “build momentum into next season” as if that would ever work. This year, here in Detroit, it’s like the season never ended. Everyone is still talking about it. Season tickets sold out for the first time in a long time. It’s been completely different. Goff was a broken man when he got here. Dan built him back up and restored his confidence. Now, the sky's the limit. Goff is in the perfect situation now. The culture has been totally changed thanks to Spielman, Campbell, Holmes, etc.. Thank you Sheila!
This talk give the fan base hope for season to start with all eyeballs on our team.
Stafford a good trash 🗑 can😂
@@vonjones21 Stafford is the goat. Respect him man. When he won the superbowl I felt like Detroit won
Proud lions fan💙🦁
I just watched an entire 30 minute video of a team I don’t follow…impressive crew
Really appreciate the grit and honesty that is expressed consistently from owner to players here with this org.
Let's F'in GOOOO! 🦁🏈🦁🏈🔥❤️
What a great interview!!!
Great interview! Restoring the roar!
It's about time I am a true blue Lions fan since the 80s great job with from the top to the bottom New Management new new players let's go Detroit!!!!!
I wish this interview was longer 😭😭😭
Detroit!!!!!! Let's go
Im loving what the Detroit Lions are doing!
Love these guys. Also I want that shirt Dan is wearing
Kincaid to the Bills was the first TE taken but I think LaPorta will be better!
What a shame that Jamo is the exception to the "character guy" theme. It's a big loss for this offense, but we'll manage. Let's hope he's learned his lesson and comes back on a mission.
Awesome that the Lions are getting some better coverage these days 🙌
Seeing the lions in commercials and NFL press is such a weird feeling 😂
If you're not with the Lions you're on the MENU
😂🦁
Remember when Dan Campbell said he wanted kneecap biters?
Then one of his TEs got mollywhopped in practice and suddenly he says it’s too much?
Yeah. Good times!
@@thomaswatkins3686 Now this is just between us? The play before that one of his coaches screamed at the player that did it who stopped from hitting a teammate violently before that …he did it and he’s still here and the TE was fired
@@thomaswatkins3686Remember when I told you to change your profile picture back to the bears logo because you're a fake fan?
Not a Lions fan but hard not to root for them when you got the motor city madman.✌🏼💙
LET'S GO DETROIT LIONS 👌 💪
I love those 3 dudes on the left!💙
Straight up, that Monday football game is greatest regular season game in history
Hard to see any other trio of GM, HC, and QB doing an interview like this. This team is different!
Lions will be playing the Chiefs twice this year. Second game will be the Super Bowl.! let’s go Lions!
Lions / Jets super bowl would be interesting
@@readtherealanthonyfaucibyr6444
Kerby Joseph would love it.
Your prediction is scary close to coming true 😂great season for the lions
@@braddavid902 what’s even scarier I predicted last game score to be 31-24 Lions win missed it by that bad two point conversion
It Always Starts with a Vision.
Top interview!! Fun and highly informative! Thanks.
Just watch how absolutely crazy this city is gonna be!! Ford Field is gonna be ROCKING!!! season tickets already sold out! Scalpers gonna make some bucks!
Lions really feeling themselves 😂 Gotta Love Coach Kneecap
Awesome interview!!!!!!! LET'S GOOOOOOO DETROIIIIIIIIT!!!!!!
How could you not want to play for this team?? The front office to the water boy seems to have really gotten it together...GO PRIDE!!
I loved how he ended the interview.... alotta work to do 💪🏿
Go lions 🙏🏻❤️🔥
Goff keep some Jordan 10’s on 🔥
Remember the last many years, they would have crummy seasons but always tried to win the final game to “build momentum into next season” as if that would ever work. This year, here in Detroit, it’s like the season never ended. Everyone is still talking about it. Season tickets sold out for the first time in a long time. It’s been completely different. And this interview is vastly different than anything we’ve ever heard here. It’s crazy.
The Media coverage this OFF-Season has been a major part of this Org changing, You would never in a million years see Bob quinn and Patricia doing this
If we win a playoff game they will be erecting statues of Brad, Dan, and Jared outside of Ford Field.
When the Lions go to the super bowl we need to sign Barry and Calvin to a one day contract so they can get their rings.
Would love to see this happen!
They can still receive rings as consultants. I do think it's a great idea though.
They will get rings
Let's goooooooo!!!
That windbreaker Brad is wearing is 🔥 I want it
When they first traded for Goff I thought he was just a stepping stone. Man was I wrong. This guy is legit.
Love this
