As our NFL Training Camp tour gets under way, we made a Pivot Stop in motor city to check on our guys at the Detroit Lions and it was an unbelievable day.
We had the chance to sit down with Quarterback Jared Goff in between practice and meetings and the conversation was one we all really walked away with a different perspective on Jared as a team leader and man.
Being the first round pick to the LA Rams, leading his team to a Super Bowl but then traded to Detroit the following year all while watching his former teammates go on to win the Super Bowl without him has made Jared Goff’s journey an imperfect one but one with a lot of growth and humility.
Jared explains how it was hard to watch the Rams win last year but he was also happy for his buddies and respected their win, but it also made him want to work even harder to get back there again as quarterback of his new team.
Openly sharing his ups and downs that have helped pave the way for his new path in Detroit, Goff expresses his renewed excitement for football in Detroit and how the coaches have helped create a winning atmosphere and he knows now is the time to go after that NFC North championship.
Ryan and Fred ask about breakout stars in training camp while Channing compliments Dan Campbell as being a dynamite head coach and true leader.
Jared takes some jabs at Channing after seeing the Kevin Hart episode, while Ryan says how defensive players have it more difficult than offensive guys which Fred quickly chimes in to agree with Jared that isn't the case.
Being featured on this season of Hard Knocks, Detroit's fields and facility were filled with cameras and crew members documenting the 6 week experience these players go through leading up to the season. The first episode of Hard Knocks premieres Tuesday at 10p eastern

The coolest thing about this show is that we got to see Goff as a person, not just the football player that’s discussed on sports media shows, seems like good people
I agreed. I think the media portrayed him in a negative light once he was traded from the Rams, but you get to see the actual person he is. If the media believes Stafford is better, fine, but they didn’t have to uplift Stafford while also bashing Goff. They could’ve just sung their praises for Stafford and left it like that. But hey, that’s the media for you

Goff is a class act. Never heard of him bad mouthing anyone or the Rams. I am confident he can grow and become a great QB the next few years. The Lions fans are awesome too.
The pivot is by far the best podcast out today! It’s just three guys having real conversations with athletes entertainers doctors n all around good people. I love watching RC Fred and Chan they come with it every week and make these athletes break down their tough exteriors and just be real n them sepvea

When he started in college at Cal it was a mess and he helped make it a successful team. The Rams under Fisher was like a high school offense. The man never shyed away from adversity. He does come off as tough but he is really tough.

Big shoutout to Jared for feeding Amon Ra St Brown the ball so much at the end of last season (during the FFL playoffs)!! He single handedly helped me win the championship rounds in my fantasy football league and made me a sweet $600!!! Jonathan Taylor carried my team in the regular season and St Brown carried me thru the playoffs 😁😁😁. I appreciate u Jared and keep feeding St Brown..... that boy bad!!!

Saw Jared on Aqib Talib's "Fades" podcast to help promote Aqib and his venture into analyzing the game and its players, which turned Aqib into star material for Amazon this coming year. Goff knows the game, his game and the guys that really cover the game. Goff is as real as they come and this was a great interview. So cool to see the respect and humor throughout the segment. This podcast rocks!

From a rams fan, Goff WILL get the lions to the playoffs. Maybe not this year. But stick it out with him for 2-3 years, keep the coaching staff consistent, keep building in the off-season. You’re a couple years from making it to the postseason. Goff can sling the rock, no doubt about it.

I am one of many cynical Lions fans, and I believe they are going to be surprisingly competitive this year. Maybe not the playoffs, but they will be in the mix for the playoffs until week 14 or 15. Watch out if Stafford's elbow becomes an issue because the Rams pick that the Lions own could become golden. Then, Lions push in 2023. Great episode.

I’m a hockey guy. I also enjoy and like soccer and baseball. I haven’t watched football since the early 90’s probably. However I love this podcast and am a fan of athletes in general. Their stories, and perspective on sports and life when done on a platform such as this one are top notch! Keep it going boys!!
This is a great storyline to cover . I wished the guys could have arranged an interview with the Great HOF cornerback Len Barney. Especially with the loss of Mr.Russell. He and Dave Bing are ambassadors for this City turning things around.

Die hard lions fan here. Not sure if I’ll ever live a qb as much as stafford but goff has been easily my second favorite in my lifetime. If he can get a playoff win, i don’t think there’s any argument on who the best lions qb is in the last 50 years. Stafford may have the stats and the raw talent but goff has the heart and soul that can inspire greatness amongst his teammates and fans alike
