It’s so interesting seeing what another RBT has in their magical bag! We’ve thought similarly. I am in-home based so I have a big, clear container in my car which holds most of my reinforcements, but I usually just work with a backpack holding applicable things for whatever session I’m at. Glow in the dark temporary tattoos have been my biggest hit among kiddos! And a back-up set of clothes have come in handy so many times. You never know what will get on yourself.

We go to private therapy 3 times a week (ST, OT, PT) and I'm researching new learning techniques for at home work in the mean time. I love your organizational skills and all of your items! I’m starting soon in aba therapy and this was so helpful. I like how you distinguished having materials for work and materials for reinforcement. I feel so much more prepared. What is your experience having a material that is used for both? For instance, could I have lego be used as a task (e.g they have to build a tower like it is shown in a picture) and also have lego as a reinforcement (free play). ?

My company is mostly digital and I just start on a new client and I’m gonna get bag and but some things although my clients mom has things that can keep her busy it’s using the same things over try keep things interesting and her and my other client motivated

Toys can get left behind sometimes yes, but my clients family is super good about putting it to the side and returning it to me later. Parents are always in the house, not necessarily in the session room with me. They are welcome to come pop in whenever they would like though! Hello! I have been trying to do some research on this to see if it is something up my alley. The only concern I have been having with picking a career is I don't believe in myself to do something important but am getting to the age where I don't really have a choice. How did you have the confidence to start this and keep on continuing? Along with not being hard on yourself for making mistakes? It is so difficult trying to explain my worries with my future but I really am so concerned about it :( I believe I have patience and the ability to be able to work with children with autism and adhd but there is always a part of me that contradicts everything about myself and my professionalism. Any advice would be a life saver!
my lil kiddo loves sand too, but I have not been able to get him to comply with any type of direction while using sand. Then it becomes a tantrum when its time to put it up. I want to use it but we havent been successful yet
I've been told never to buy anything and to talk to the BCBA and have them provide you with materials but I'm way too shy to ask for stuff so I buy my reinforcers on my own with my own money.. is this really frowned upon? Do you get reimbursed for the stuff you buy? Or do you just buy it with your own money too? Also, thanks for your videos! Very helpful
Hi Emily! You can defiantly by your own things, in fact I recommend it! How much you want to spend it completely up to you but it's always nice to have the option. I save my receipts and write off my work supplies as a business expense to taxes since I am an independent contractor. Hope this helps!

I totally get it... if it causes a tantrum to take it away, then I would avoid it until he/she is able to handle it ❣️

Every agency is different. I buy my own and I write it off as a business expense for taxes!
