    Can the shut off valve stub out be on an exterior wall by code? I have one that comes out of the floor that I'll need to move for a new toilet.

    Why was a new flange used instead of a taller wax seal? Is it because he needed a new foundation for the toilet bolts?

    I once replaced a toilet in my home that had both flange bolts bent over like in your video. Is this something some plumbers intentionally do to keep the nuts from loosening? Nice video.

      I think this was a workaround instead of having to saw them off in order to fit the caps. I don’t think I would recommend attempting

      It’s ridiculous. Just do it right and cut them to the right length.
      They’re just lazy. Bending them wouldn’t keep anything from loosening up.

    My little designated 2 1/2 gallon toilet vacuum cleaner does just fine, and it was only 15 bucks, I'm to old to fork out 70 bucks for your miracle dust

      @@powderdescent it actually turns back into liquid when water is added. So would you reinstall the toliet you just let it fill back up and flush per usual.

    Good luck to the next plumber who has to fix this 4 months from now since the flange was overscrewed and the seal will crack. They won't be able to get those nuts because they were trimmed so short, hopefully they have a friend with some high level power tools who can come save them.
    (I have no idea what I'm talking about, just putting random complaints to inspire your next voiceover)

    in todays episode were going to be pulling and resetting this toilet. its got a bad wax seal so every time you flush it a little bit of water pools around the base. Ok I cant remember anymore of the voice over.

    Why mark the bolts at 12 rather than just rotate the toilet once its in place to square it up? Not saying its wrong

      I prefer to tighten the bolts down with two sets of nuts and washers

    Great job, but someone correct me if I'm wrong. Are not supposed to lay a bead of plumber's putty on the bottom of the commode before you secure it to the floor?

      That’s not a good idea, though a lot of ppl do it. If you ever have a leak you won’t know about it while the trapped water damages your floor. A compromise is to caulk or grout it but leave a gap in the back for water to escape.

    Do you put a wax ring between the original flange and the set rite extension?

      It comes with a gasket, but you can also use a wax ring if you prefer

    Flange sits on TOP of the floor per manufacture instructions, there is even a RUclips video to explain it.

    if you use a spacer you have to seal between the yellow flange and the red spacer with caulking. too bad you only get one gasket and it's so expensive. otherwise its the best repair flange ever.

    Looks like it significantly reduces drain diameter? Then you wind up with no leaks but a problem flushing toilet.

    Why not clean up the existing collar if it’s not broken and stack wax rings your using a wax ring anyway

      Wax rings don’t adhere to each other very well. This repair will last much much longer

      When I didn't know they made these flange extensions, I stacked wax rings, and yeah they don't stick together well. Had to warm them up with my hands and use some pottery skills to mold a seam. Pretty sus 😅

    Not for nothing. I've see so many toilet replacement videos. I installed mine 35 years ago and nothing, no leaks, other than the replacement of the flush mechanism and supply hoses, no leaks 😊

    Why don't you just cut the old ring out and install a new one instead of some band aid. A little roto hammer, a new stainless ring and some pourstone and it's a forever repair.

      Because the repair flanges like he's using are a permanent fix. I have one that's going on 17 years now.

      @@stevensko9153If there’s a leak you want to know about it. Caulk keeps the water in where it will just damage your floor. A compromise is to caulk but leave a gap in back for water to escape.
