    Awesome video once again Michael! Very helpful!
    I'm in on Kingdoms Forlorn on 1$, because I see the potential but it didn't blow me away and still doesn't.
    Besides, I've got Oathsworn, Aeon Trespass: Odyssey and Stormsunder coming, as well as KDM gambler's chest. After watching your video, I am fairly sure Kingdoms Forlorn doesn't fill any gap in my campaign collection..

    Great video, must've been quite a bit of work! Wasn't interested in KF already but it helped me confirming that I have quite a good spread with O:ITD, A:TC/TA and SS and that I'm still hyped for all of them! So, was helpful still, thanks!

    I didn't even have to watch the video and I promptly cancelled my KF pledge. I have pledged four of the games compared (Storm, Oath, Aeon & Arena) and had a moment of clarity with regards to everything I have in my library already and what is still outstanding from a delivery perspective.
    I don't need another massive co-op fantasy game that will never hit my table. Still waiting on KDM wave deliveries...so yeah.
    Thank you for saving me a few hundred bucks and any sense of FOMO is gone :)

    I was all-in on Oathsworn and ended up cancelling my pledge, about 6 months ago. Something about the art style, text heavy cards, and flow battle system didn’t do it for me. It was also overly serious (like you talk about in the video). I like some of the silliness in KF and KDM. Still currently all-in on KF, but may cancel by the end.

  • @nicksun7619
    @nicksun7619 2 года назад +4

    Thanks for the vid, I am backing KF for several reasons. It's the most novel among others in what's it's trying to do. Step in step out co op. Changing the world permanently with your meaningful choices for greater replayability. ATO needs bigger playing space compared to KF. It's very similar but if there is "bad mechanics & feedback of their system" those changes can be applied to kingdoms forlon. Stormsunder artstyle is awesome but I am unsure of gameplay to the lack of new gameplay videos. Subjectively it's producer does not have the greatest rep. Harakiri exploration phase is more of a chore to delving and you have to use a different set of characters for the expansion. It might be a pick up for second print. I think the universal winner is Oathsworn if you only can get a copy of it. It is launching soon. You can play a freaking warbear! On a side note I love Middara it's has grown unto to me although I am not a big fan of Anime.

    I played the DragonBall Super card game for awhile. I even had my judge certification at the time. It was so much fun, but card games lose their appeal to me once I start playing competitively. I'm no longer playing for fun, and I'm having to chase all of the must have cards to even have a chance at winning. As soon as I afford all of those a new set is released and I have to start over. I know I don't have to play competitively, but my friends that played were into that scene. So even games at my house were sweaty, but I absolutely loved my limited time with it.

      oh that's great news thank you! I've played quite a few card games but never competitively, always casual so sounds like it's a good system then? The booster packs and such are actually pretty cheap. Was worried the IP would drive the cost up but cheaper than MTG.

      @@TheKingofAverage I think you'll have a great time if you keep it casual. On the topic of your video. I'm really torn about where to put my funds. I love a good story driven game and I'm trying to decide if I want KF or SS. I already have Oathsworn and AT:O coming, so I feel like SS might give me a bit more diversity in my collection. And to be honest, the delve phase of KF just doesn't seem as exciting as I had hoped. The clash looks great, but I already have AT:O. Unless they figure out a way to make the delve more interesting, I'm leaning towards SS. With that criteria in mind, do you think SS could potentially be a better fit?

    The Dragonball Super TCG is a fun game, but like all other games there are pros and cons. Just so you have an idea of where I'm coming from, I used to play it competitively. First, you should know that the card arts are amazing. Bandai spared no expense in making the cards VERY pretty, and you'll especially notice it with some of the higher rarity cards, with the highest rarity being the Secret Rares (you'll see the SEC on the card rarity). If you are lucky enough to pull an SEC, you will be holding pure gold in your hand; the SEC cards are valuable, hard to pull, and generally hold their value very well. Next, the game is fun and you can play with any Dragonball character you can think of including the non-canon ones as well.
    Unfortunately there are a lot of cons to the game, which is what ultimately made me stop playing. Firstly, you'll probably have trouble finding a local community to play the game as it's nowhere near as popular as TCGs like YuGiOh or MTG. Then, power creep is obnoxious - too obnoxious for its own good. You will feel like all the cards you have were made obsolete by the next released set - even the aforementioned SEC cards.
    IMO, the best ways to approach this game is either as a collector/investor, or casual player (if you have a nearby friend/family member to play with). In this way, you don't have to worry about having a ton of bulk cards that are worth dirt, and you can escape the toxic scene of competitive play and rules debating.

    • @TheKingofAverage
      @TheKingofAverage  Год назад

      oh thanks for sharing! After the move I plan on starting to play with my kids, so sounds like I should be good to go there. Super unfortunate about the power creep. MTG got around this mostly by only allowing the most recent releases, so there's reason to get new cards beyond having them just be better.

      It's not very focused on Narrative at all, which is why it wasn't compared.
