Hi, Darcy! You showed some real gems. I have that KD album in back - that DVD concert is great! I first heard the SCORPIONS in '82 like you but then I got to see them live in Indianapolis in 1984 on the Love at First Sting tour with Bon Jovi opening...lol. SCORPIONS were my first concert. I go back a ways. The live albums I was raised on:
    1. KISS ALIVE 2 (btw - the studio songs on side 4 are GREAT! I thought "Rockin' in the USA" and "All American Man" were good enough to play live)
    2. QUEEN LIVE KILLERS - I was raised listening to this favorite band of mine.
    3. JUDAS PRIEST - Unleashed in the East - the first live album I owned.
    4. IRON MAIDEN - Live After Death - the DVD concert still I think remains their best.
    5. UFO - Strangers in the Night
    6. Honorable Mention goes to... SAXON - Rock & Roll Gypsies

@darcysixstringsninelives3493 my top 2 choices will always be my favourite live albums. I think they are outstanding because they were recorded at the peak of the bands careers when they were super tight & firing on all 8 cylinders. They are essential albums that surpass their studio outputs. I totally agree with most of your choices Mate. 👍

I saw Slayer on the "Decade..." tour. They announced an aditional show just one week before in my area. Before the internet the news didn´t spread so I saw them in front of 400, maybe 500 people. That was probably my fave concert ever out of the hundreds I´ve seen over the decades.
One of my favourite live albums is still "Tokyo Tales" by Blind Guardian. Recorded in 1992 on the "Somwhere far Beyond" tour. It´s a raw, stipped back version of the band without the bombast, I love it!

Hi Darcy, another great video, I’ll have to go back and listen to the Scorpions live album again, forgot how much I like it.
Your Metallica shirt reminds me how much I loved their shirts back in the day. My favorite that I owned were the Shortest Straw with “In vertigo you will be” on back and white one that Lars wore in the One video with the album covers on the back.
And hey, the Rough Riders are off to a great start! Cheers.

Hi Darcy!!! cool live stuff.... unfortunately in this days you don't get a lot of good live recordings maybe the "new" Exodus?? and hard to believe the other big three thrash bands don't have a "great" live album. I do agree with you on "Beast Over Hammersmith" it's an awesome prerfomance, the setlist and listening Bruce live for the first time is a killer experience.... to me one great live recording is Helloween's live Ep "Live in the UK" with a very young Kiske on vocals and singing Keeper's songs and previous stuff. cheers and be well

Great picks Darcy! Beast over Hammersmith is my favourite Dickinson livealbum! I commented on your last video about livealbums where I’ve already mentioned some of my favourites. Here are some more to check out:
MSG - One night at Budokan (1982) Schenker and Powell on fire. Great setlist with tracks like Armed And Ready, Attack Of The Mad Axeman, On And On and Doctor Doctor.
Accept - Live in Chile (2013) Great sounding liveshow. Newer stuff is mixed with classics like Metal Heart, Balls To The Wall, Neon Nights and Fast As A Shark. Mark and the band does a great job.
Dokken: From Conception: Live 1981. Early performance with highlights like Paris Is Burning, In The Middle and Nightrider.
King Diamond: In Concert 1987: Abigail. Great liveperformance from the golden days with Hansen and Dee in the band.

agreed with ur selection… \m/… although i hvn’t had Rush’s a show of hands & Savatage’s ghost in the ruins (a tribute to Criss Oliva) yet… love both of these bands.. it was on my list especially Savatage…
just curious abt Dokken’s beast from the east… how come they never shoot any video during the tour.. i mean it’s Dokken… they were at the top of their game at that time.. look at the Scorpions… world wide live was recorded n filmed… although Scorpions was bigger than Dokken IMO.. bt it’s Don & George… they ruled during that time…
    my fave live albums are..
    1)Metallica - live shit: binge & purge…
    2)Slayer - decade of aggression
    3)Judas Priest - priest live
4)Iron Maiden - live after death
5)Iron Maiden - beast over hammersmith
    6)Def Leppard - live LA forum 1983
    7)Therion - live gothic
8)Soilwork - live in the heart of helsinki
    9)Grave Digger - 25 to live
    10)Incantation - blasphemy in brazil

Helloween - Live in the UK, Accept - Staying a Life, Deep Purple - Made in Japan , Iron Maiden - Live After Death, Judas Priest - Unleashed in the East + Priest..Live, Kiss - Alive 1&2, Slayer - Decade of Aggression are some of my favorites I can think of now. My personal opinion is that live albums are best on LPs, since it is more difficult to change the track.. so you are forced to listen to the full experience. What a great list.. I could not agree more about a show of hands and it being the best time in the band for Ged’s vocals. The last of 3 flawless live releases from them, untouchable. Love the mention of overkill, you got me that cd/blueray set and it’s incredible, the slayer and dokken both equally end the best era of both bands. And the priest , that is my fav live priest record. And of course maiden, young aggressive and Bruce sounded unreal. What a list brother.. stay heavy and go spin that KD in the background.🤟🤟

Yeah I don’t know what the hell I was talking about because I know that story inside and out! Criss is one of my favourite guitar players of all time, his guitar tone and the way he played was truly amazing!

That Priest live album = TURD.
Rough CUTT put out a double cd. One cd, demos. Other, a live show. Great.
Black Sabbath, double cd, Born Again. Live cd = fantastic !
Sad, how so many bands - screw up live recordings. Overdubs, basically.

My alltime favorite will always be WASP - Live in The Raw. It's almost like summary of their Best of - early 80s performed live. Some people complain how drums sound on this one, almost like one hits a trash can - but I actually like that characteristic sound.
Slayer - Decade of Agression - not only a great live album from their early 90s peak but also technically very interesting CD-album. It features multiple "hidden" inbetween tracks sections (those that count down to zero and go seamlessly into a new track / song) containing only Araya speaking to the audience. The best solution i've seen as they are only audiable when one plays entire album, but when one skips tracks - the songs begin right away. However, this is totaly broken and cut out on streaming services like Spotify, so this album needs to be played from original CD to be fully enjoyed.

@@darcysixstringsninelives3493 the majority of that Priest album was recorded in Dallas and I'd originally thought about going to the show but then I found out Dokken was opening. I didn't like the "Turbo" album but since I'd never seen Priest before I was gonna suck it up. Dokken on the bill pushed me over the edge.
i didn't even purchase than album until the last couple of years.

Sometimes a live album is a good introduction to a band I know decade of aggression was mine with slayer while I'm not the biggest live album person I do enjoy them but it has to be a 2cd one these days great video darcy also have you done an annihilator album ranking yet? I have the 1st two albums and have recently picked up a couple of the latter era ones really enjoying their music thanks as always!

Ayyy this is killer haha! Glad to see you do this second edition.
    Some for me are:
Edguy - Burning Down the Opera: their first live album, released in 2003, this has pretty much all my favorite songs on it from their golden era (in my opinion), songs like Babylon, Headless Game, Land of the Miracle, and Tears of a Mandrake are standouts. The crowd participation is on point as is usual with power metal audiences haha.
Iron Maiden - Beast over Hammersmith '82: this was an archival release for the 40th Anniversary edition of The Number of the Beast, also available on standalone CD I believe? Recorded three days before Number was released, so this features a few songs which were unreleased at the time, as well as many Paul Dianno songs being sung by Bruce. I love it.
Bob Seger - Live Bullet: I don't even need to say why, but this is it man. Turn The Page is enough for it to be legendary, as that's my all-time favorite song.
Kiss - Alive III: Alive III, while being the most overproduced, clearly touched up and edited, I still love the energy of the performances, and with the mid 1990's Kiss being my favorite live era of the band, this is a win win.
Stone Sour - Live in Moscow: The band at their live peak, I know not everyone is into their butt-rock / metal thing, but I really enjoy it and this is their heaviest era.
Great picks here with Alive II and Decade of Aggression, gonna take a look at that Savatage record for sure now!

I used to love the live albums in my collection but i'm not so fussed at all now. Much prefer watching dvds/blurays. Totally gutted when i found out that two of the tracks on the UFO - strangers in the night 'live' album were recorded 'live' in the studio and not at a concert and what's more, they released the two mixes (without the crowd) as a 10" RSD release. LOL. The world needs a re-release of the W.A.S.P. - Live At The Lyceum, London video on dvd/bluray, WITHOUT the garbage 'americanised' crowd overdubbing they did to it. The crowd noises don't even match up with what's happening on screen. Hopefully they have all the footage somewhere with the original crowd noise but i doubt it very much after all this time

Hey, Darcy! How are you doing, man?
I've been a fan of the channel for a while, but just realized I was not subscribed to it. My bad!🥴
I am reaching out because I'm releasing my 5th single next Friday, July 26, and I'd love to share that with you.
Paranoia Church is a Toronto-based, self-produced, one-man band exploring different nuances of Traditional Metal, featuring a bunch of cool people. On drums, I've got Fabio Alessandrini (Annihilator, Bonfire, Lione's Rhapsody, Enforcer, Whiplash, etc). A few Brazilian guitar players, such as Rod Rodrigues and Victor Gueiros, have featured on solos. On vocals, I've got people from all over: the Greek beast Tasos Lazaris (Fortress Under Siege and Savage Grace), the Italian Valeriano di Zordo (Stargenesis and Agarthic - Frontiers Records), the Ecuadorian singer Carolina Padrón (Tribus), and the upcoming track features the American multi-instrumentalist Samtar.
The first three singles are straight-up Traditional Metal (Priest, King Diamond, Maiden, Accept), but on the last one started experimenting with other elements (more mid-tempo, a duet with female vocals...). And the upcoming song, 'Back to the Ocean', takes an even more different direction. I've added some Hammond organs, and Australian trumpeter Kelly O'Donohue joined me with a set of trombones and trumpets. I am pretty curious to see what more Metal-oriented people will think about it.
All the released material so far is available on my RUclips channel and all other digital platforms. But if you're interested in checking out the next single firsthand, give me a shout, and I'll send you the link before the official release.
    Cheers! Stay heavy!🤘
