Francis Chan has helped me so much in my walk, and I thought this is one of his many great moments.
Thought I wasn't worth shit until this message. Thank you Mr. Chan, you got me out of contemplating suicide.
That is incredible that God's word could work through Francis Chan in that way for you. God bless you and I hope you realize that you are loved by the only one who truly matters in this world, and that you can make a joy-filled difference in the world through him :)!

I look in the mirror and praise God for allowing me to live this long.
I feel three years old but I'm over 60...
This morning today I was running a few miles for cross country. I am a new runner, and for me, it was incredibly difficult. As I beat my hands harder and my legs grew limper, I said, "I want to stop. . . I want to stop . . . I feel like I'm going to die." But then my teammates kept pushing me farther, and even got behind me so I could keep running. . . They said, "Keep running, we're almost there. We're uphill now, but we'll reach downhill in a minute now." Because of them, I did not give up. Even though I really felt like I was going to die, I kept running. They reminded me of what was ahead. And sure enough, when I finished the run, I was ecstatic, and was extremely glad that I did not give up halfway.
In the same way, living for God is extremely difficult. It is one thing to die for Christ, but it is another to live for him. In the Bible, Jesus tells us to take up our cross daily. The Bible also tells us to love God and love our neighbors as ourself. But the issue is that we are sinners; and we are tempted by the flesh. Satan is at the door, waiting to prowl on us at any moment.
Even though following Christ is difficult, it is incredibly worth it. Jesus promises that those who do the will of God will be his brother and mother and sister in heaven for all eternity. Even though the race is difficult, we must not give up. It is difficult to follow Christ, just as it was difficult for me to run those miles. But the word of God, just like my teammates, kept reminding me of the reward that was ahead, and because of that, I did not stop running. Ephesians 6:10-18 says that we must be strong and put on the full armor of God, with faith as our shield, and the word of God as our sword.
My hope for all of you is to be able to speak 2 Timothy 4:7 at the end of your lives.
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."
Just like Paul the Apostle, we shall not give up. We must keep beating our arms, and keep running, depending on Jesus Christ to be our strength. Even if it is difficult for you now, you will surely reap the benefits. So I urge and implore you, do not give up! Keep praying! Keep your faith! Keep striving to be like Jesus! Keep depending on God almighty!
I have to admit, being a Christian is a lot harder than I expected. But remember what Jesus said in John 16:33:
"I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."
I love his willingness to admit when he is unsure about doctrine. Great sermon.

I don't know what you've done, but it's never too late to turn to him if you are willing to give up everything for him. If not, pray that he will change your heart, because thats how we come to love him, he changes us.

Im soo glad that he said pleasing the lord trying to live right is exaushting ..i thought i was the only one...im ovewhelmed trying to please god ..im constantly at war with myself .. its hard trying to live this life knowing that everything is meaningless except that which you do for God ..im exausted and the more i try the harder it gets to overcome ..its an overwhelming feeling to know that i can never physically do enough to plzz God but something in me keeps trying to stay on his good side

@ionoMyName Tell your fellow students about Christ, read your Bible daily (we all have time for this, whether right when we wake up or right before we go to bed or any time), on weekends serve at your church and in the community, be intentional in your relationships to disciple others, etc....And most importantly, check your motivation to do well on a midterm, final exam, or quiz. If the ultimate goal isn't about Jesus, it's a waste and drop out of school.

Its funny. Even John, the one whom Jesus loved, fell on his face, before God in Revelation because he didn't do enough. You will never do enough. That is why God's grace is such a beautiful thing. Do your things out of Love. Live out of Love. That is all you can do.

I'd say that something in you is the Holy Spirit, and it's true, we're all like that. My advice is, give your WHOLE self into submission to the Lord, that it would be impossibly hard to turn away from the Spirit, but so very easy to hate sin, and turn away from it, because you love Jesus so much that you get sick to your stomach at the thought of turning away from him and back to sin. Please, take this seriously! Jesus says, in John 14, "Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do." God bless!
I think if someone has read the bible and came out with the beliefs that rape & murder is fine then they read it wrong. How can you say jesus is ok with murder when its one of the 10 commandments is "thou shall not kill" ... yall been speaking with the wrong people & taking parts of the bible out of context

If you are right then Francis and his friend David Platt are wrong with these messages challenging us to get back to the church Jesus started. There are good people who love God down the street at the local church of the american jesus. The american jesus is a false god created in the image of middle class americans, who give out of their abundance and try to worship God and money. And you know this is truth. I am a good samaritan--I serve people God puts in my path.
