And speaking of the spirit...it really is a testament to how well he can fool others into looking and acting just like his host.
Ryou Bakura needs more screentime tbh. Not much is known about him in the anime. Wish they expanded him more. His character is my favorite next to Joey's due to how gentle and kind his personality is. 💗 Used to love Kaiba but I couldn't deal with all that ego. 😅
BAKURA WAS SABOTRAGED BY THE WRITERS OF THE SHOW! He was (still) epic, but he was never given a real chance. Look at all of his duels, he has amazing potential and often looses for stupid reasons. Try to take him on without Plot Armor after he had time to create an up-to-date Deck!
Bakura is the one character that I fully respect on his duelling skills as he never wins by screwing the rules (Marik) or by dumb luck (Yugi mostly). His decks and stretegies are always interesting and seem to be well thought out ways of winning as opposed to abusing the heart of the cards and winning.
The reason why Bakura's duel os fun because he played Anti-meta of his era. Destroy his monsters? He was the only that use graveyard as his resource. Have high stat monster? He can play defensively as he put on the destiny board timer.
I'd like to believe that deleter incarnations and revise to the Yugioh game such as Graveyard Resouce was inspired by him. The Bandit King may have been exterminated from the world, but his legacy lives on just like the Pharaoh and Takahashi.
The occult deck was made by Ryou. Maybe spirit was too lazy to take actions and buy that card and make deck aboit it. Lol. But seriously, remember that Yami Bakura just like Pharaoph have lost their memories. So simply Bakura doesn't know who he is. He just have need to do evil things like sending people to purple realm.

But maybe they didn't dare imagine that supernatural things could also exist ... I find it quite surprising.

like we freaking need another YGO villain just like him tho i really miss his disturbing but clever style, like Number 96 was up there but he just went mad and turned into a tool, Vector was really close but he wasn't really strong and was just a convenient plot victim and Sora is getting close but still needs more development and appareances imo

OMG I know! 96 was so cool and I liked him but then he kinda just became...meh. I didn't keep up with Zexal that much but I remembered enjoying his episodes beforehand.

I've always assumed so since he's Egyptian, and the symbol always appears on Egyptian characters.

In the TV show, Bakura did escape from the evil spirit, tho it comes back in Yu-Gi-Oh Dark Side of Dimensions
