I'd like to point out how 3 wins to Lancen and Felix were from lucky shots/nukes xD Was honestly rooting for Etan and Geiger since I felt they played better overall, but man they got unlucky

@@disconneck1363 no, definitely. I don't mean to disparage those two, they wouldn't be there if they weren't amazing players, but it's just something funny I couldn't stop thinking about. I mean, they basically made a comeback off the luckiest nuke in the world
Yeah. Kinda unfortunate that the main factor in all 3 of their losses was rng screwing them. I’m glad to see it go to round 5 but etan and Geiger def deserved to win the series. First loss: self nuke. Second loss: nuke pulls off a Luke skywalker blowing up the death star kind of shot. And third round, a single gunner from lancen managed to take out 3 double nuke volleys from etan all by itself, while etans and geigers aa didn’t want to seem to work at all.
Just unfortunate that the better team lost to rng and not really a sneaky and unexpected strat from their opponents.
@@KITT-ms5ep At first I somewhat agreed with you, but upon thinking about it more I'm going to have to say that it's unfair to say that Etan and Geiger deserved to win. They were definitely the more offensive team, which is flashy and showy and looks good to the audience. But while you can chalk up one loss to bad luck, when it happens in 3 games out of 5 you have to start thinking that there is a fundamental problem at play. And if you look, there IS. Etan's bases in particular are hollow, he relies on having very well positioned defenses and a lot of pressure to cover to make it difficult to get a good shot off at him, but a good shot is devastating.
Ultimately if I was the one aiming Lancen and Felix's guns, it would have been 3-0 in E&G's favor. The skill required to actively defend against as much as was being thrown out and still put a deadly shot downrange is beyond me, and props to Lancen and Felix for being able to do it.
Geiger must be like. Give me top, please, stop giving it to etan.

@@Mehhemo They were probably expecting atleast a smoke with shotguns, although I went triple shotguns in the past. Fairly standard in support strategy. Not sure if they were expecting two though, and that the smoke would be used to block their lasers :D

That first game was such an interesting one. First, Blue team got overconfident because they shot out all of Red's weapons, so they let them build up again and actually fight back. Then, not learning from the enemy, Red got overconfident with their Core damage advantage, and even at 12:39, when they saw that Blue used a firebeam to defend the nuke from the AA, they didn't catch on and build extra defenses to combat it, still not learning from the enemy's strategy, and ending up dying due to the exact same firebeam defense at 13:45. Truly, both teams got too confident, and both ended up paying the price.
I wonder if this is how hyped sports fans get XD

I was about to say "technically speaking, if they nuke the metal parts they can have an advantage because if how much splash it does but it'll probably be shot down and might not be enough, a loss is almost guaranteed" and then, as if jinxed, it freaking did more than i even expected was possible. Only thing better would be a drunk nuke somehow hitting the core from the top

I allways hate seeing wins by health, because I want to see them fight till their last breaths. But these were some good matches.

It was fun watching these matches, as I've forgotten large parts of them. When watching back I remember a bunch of stuff though, like really hating that top flak of EtaN in the final match, and the smoke usage to block Geigers lasers from killing lancen.
Quite enjoying the commentary aswell!

An amazing plays in both sides! But I need to ask... Why not AP sniper straight to EtaN core? That would make that Match less stressfull
@@justaguy577 Can't really know if their core can be ap'd, as, well, you can't look into their base, although I could've noticed with his windturbine efficiency. I usually throw in an ap sniper regardless, but this specific round I went double smoke, plus double flak, which did not require an upgrade centre.

First round of vid was so unearned for lancen and Felix
They had one gunner firing at the nuke, nuke kinda just went where it was targeted. We got a bit lucky with where it booped down, but even if it would've landed a tad further away it would've still done a fair bit of core damage.
I'd also like to point out that we were winning early on, not sure what happened from there though heh.
Finally! More Forts videos instead of streams!
In moments like game one, I wish sometimes there was a second score option where final score is determined by a product of core HP by structural damage. This would ensure more often that the dominating team wins, in spite of flukes.
Blue:

And thusly that series would've been over. Plus if you cut away the timer etan and Geiger were favorites by the odds, not just the match standings.
@@rockysmith6105 yeah, i also think that determining the victor based on core dmg alone is a tad too much. etan and geiger just had bad luck and as s1 already mentioned: "how 3 wins to Lancen and Felix were from lucky shots/nukes". Like its an RTS, its about strategy, so how is it fair that s1 wins by sheer luck 3 times...
The main problem with that method would be how some strategies are precise damage while others are big explosions. A double nuke could be completely ineffective against a well designed woodspam, yet the damage is still huge, just completely useless. Firebeams can be brutal, yet they do little damage overall, most is caused by fire anyway.
Maybe there's a method out there to help against RNG, but nothing can beat a good base design that can tank a nuke. EtaN sure likes having air-cooled cores in his base designs.
@@LanceShieldProductions Yes you have a point. I also agree that Etan's approach to Air Cooling his core is very INTeresting, you got your asses handed to you in the first round and didnt deserve to win just because that one nuke got lucky.
The second Round was well played by you, especially with the foglaunchers.
Maybe overall dmg wouldnt be the best option to handle wins besides raw core dmg, but i think a change to the system would be good
Or... perhaps a logarithmic trend to base damage, so that it would take OoM of said damage to alter the score in a significant amount.

yes. it's because they have a high HP pool, and cost only a little energy to repair/build.

Love the commenting style, casting and narrating a tournament and little bits of pro insight. But I also love the game sounds, any way you can turn them up? They're barely there at all compared to your voices, there's no risk of being drowned out, but the gameplay is drowned out by the casters even breathing.. :(

I think it's kind of untrue to refer to anyone present in this match as a noob, but I see that you were trying for that new thumbnail format.

Everyone keeps saying that it wasn't fair for Lance and Felix to win against Geigur and Etan, despite red having been displaying better skill overall. But I disagree(not that anyone cares). Whenever a team wins against another team, there are always a number of reasons why that team won. In games with high skill ceilings for pvp and multiple metas that counter each other, some people can get into the habit of playing to counter another team instead of playing to win. And, throughout the game, Felix's team is mainly going for core damage while Geigur's team is mainly trying to shut down their opponents before going for core damage. Because of this, Lance and Felix managed to squeak out a victory against Etan and Geigur.
Now I know next to nothing about how forts pvp works, and have only watched videos on it, so take my comment here with a grain of salt.
So congrats to lance and felix and better luck next time to geigur and etan
I agree. Both teams played really well, both in the aiming an building aspects. But whilst the victorys were largely down to fluke's, those flukes were only possible because of a good surrounding strategy. take the nuke hitting I think it was Ethen in the first match. Whilst it was a fluke that the nuke did dip straight down after getting hit by a gunner bullet, that gunner bullet was only there because the AA was fired at the perfect time.

I have a question. My laptop isn't super good, but I really want to play Forts, how hard is it for a PC to run Forts?
Probably not that hard
You'll need to write specifics. What CPU, GPU does it have?
it's not terribly demanding. if you can run minecraft at 10+chunks render distance, you should be fine in most cases.
@@professormutant3252 It can run MC with 9 chunks and about 40 fps.
@@tangerinq CPU - 1,7 GHz. GPU - idk, I can't find it in thesettings but its 64-bit and 4 GB ram.
This matchup just shows why Forts shouldn't go Esports just because of the amount of RNG that can sway matches.
