    Backdraft protection on that end wall cap is huge for keeping drafts out, being somewhere it gets cold it is a huge quality of life thing for sure! Another thing that can help if using 1 big fan on several machines, is using blast gates to seal off machines that aren't in use to maintain suction at the machines that you're hitting with work. Just gotta remember to open them up to allow flow when in use. Good work and awesome setup matt, love to see it!

      Thanks Kyle and you are absolutely correct. I have also ordered some things to help with the air exchange.

    Good stuff Matt. . The new "Laaaaaser" area is going to look great. I'm sure when this is all done, you'll be very very happy.

    Great tour! I have a manufacturing background and am obsessed with flow and bottlenecks; looks like you nailed it. Also love your manifold; just convinced me to also go with 8", although I had to fight the Black Friday propaganda 'cause only 6" was on sale!! Now hang some posters on those garage doors, and back to work, lol.

    Great video! I am putting a 1200 sq. ft. addition onto my shop and am going to move my lasers out there along with finished projects and materials. I like your manifold idea and have some clamp-together ducting left over from installing my dust collection system in the main shop. I think I am going to contact the company to get their thoughts on this as drawing smoke out might be different than drawing sawdust as far as joint tightness. Also, if I decide to go this route, I will have to pick up some 8” ducting/fittings as the biggest I have left over is 6” on down to 3”.

    Don't forget to support the duct on each side of the fan so that you can remove the fan without the duct flexing too much. Putting a removable coupler between the duct and the fan will aid in any removal of the fan in the future, possibly a flexible connection to stop fan vibration form going into the ductwork itself. Good luck! I'm excited to see what you do there.

    Short Ron outside do it with 10" PVC so no issues with hot or cold transfer with 10" to 8" reducer that leaves pressure
    Reduction on output side makes for even better air output and no condensation

    Maybe use a filter before the motor to keep motor from getting gummed up. I actually clicked on thumb nail thinking you were setting up a grow room. It takes around 1000 cfm per 10x10 to change the air once a minute with no back pressure. Looks like a nice setup.

    Great video Matt. Do you feel the need to ground the exhaust to help with static in the system?

  • @anthonyedwards8093
    @anthonyedwards8093 9 месяцев назад +2

    Don’t put a paint booth in the same duct with your big exhaust fan. Unless the exhaust fan is explosion proof, you will have an explosion with the paint vapors without a special explosion proof exhaust fan.

    Get a smart plug to plug blower in and a a echo dot to turn the fan on and off. Alexa turn blower on or off. or remote control outlet.

    Have a question. Can I exhaust my laser engraver thru the exhaust side of my dust collection. Not running thru the whole dust system. Just the exhaust that goes outside

    • @laserengravingwithmatt
      @laserengravingwithmatt  5 месяцев назад +2

      I would not recommend that because of all the fine dust because you still have fine dust going out.

    • @jamesward1855
      @jamesward1855 5 месяцев назад +1

      @laserengravingwithmatt7833 so what would you recommend? Just drilled one hole thru my brick wall. Don't want to drill another one. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

    • @laserengravingwithmatt
      @laserengravingwithmatt  5 месяцев назад +2

      I would put a tea right before the wall and have exhaust gate on each one so you can close the one to the dust collector so you know no fumes or sparks would go that way running the lasers
