I am from the MidWest. Sioux Falls was my birthplace & early years. I've lived on the West Coast for most of my life. But, I love hearing the Northern European way of speaking. It takes me back to years ago. I love the cooking. It was basic, inexpensive & delicious. My Grandmother baked bread every day & would often walk it over to our house to have with dinner.
Loved the video. Fabulous buffet in Decatur, Indiana that graciously told me the secret to their delicious tender roast was adding a can of coke. I tried it. Yep! Yum! Tender. Even tho I limit fructose sugar, or any sugar consumptionin our diet, I add that Coca Cola to my crocked roast. Ladies, you did a great job! Oh, you licked your hand, LOL, but I'm sure you washed it off camera. Ease up on these women, some of you viewers. They don't claim to be pros, they're sharing good info. I'd rather see these ladies stick a big fork in the meat to transfer it pot to crock than to struggle with tongs and drop/splash all over themselves. Good tasty food, good women sharing their time and kitchen with a viewer.
Another way of opening a jar is put a butter knife under the lid and pry up. Do this in several areas of the lid and you will hear it pop then you can turn the lid easier.
My mom is a great cook. She also knows how to bake bread. She uses some surprise ingredients in her food that people would be shocked to know. They never know and they eat the food and love it. This is why I am not shocked or surprised at the coke and the people that are have never been around somebody that does a lot of home cooked meals. Don't run away too quickly people and keep an open mind when it comes to food.
Please get an inexpensive jar opener to keep in the kitchen. They come in many shapes and sizes. I have a silicone potholder which is great for opening jars and I keep it with my potholders. Add real onions and celery as long as no one is allergic. Best wishes!
Love the video. Hmmm, instead of poking a hole on the jar lid with a knife, just hit the lid with the table knife's handle, or bang it on the floor, gently. This was the first time I've ever seen coke used in a roast. WoW! Sure wish we had sodas, but we don't drink them. Thanks ladies (and "camera man").
Coke is a very good substitute for those who cannot use wine. The acid, color, and sweetness are all elements that enhance in a marinade or slow cook tenderizing. Well done.
Cool not bad im going too give it a try. looks good makes sense.. ( THE JAR)) Next time tap around the lid with something hard. Like the counter edge. Usually does the trick.
I don't know WTF happened but between her stabbing the jar top, licking her hand and proceeding to prepare the food, I became disgusted. Also no Pepsi. Smh
What a brilliant video thanks lady’s I really enjoyed it and hope I can be as good as you both it’s nice to see 2 friends in this channel that’s a thumbs up and the bells on let’s see what else you have to offer
Nope. Alice and Jeanne are best friends! Having a conversation with them is hilarious because they interrupt each other all the time and finish each other's thoughts. It's like they think as one!
I agree. And it took that one lady forever to scoop out the brown sugar. Have your ingredients already measured and ready to add for an easy to follow video.
Cook in slow cooker on low 8 to 10 hours. This and more info about this recipe can be found here: www.dvo.com/recipes_archive/slow-cooker-pot-roast_video.html
I made this true to the recipe. Thank you ladies for making this video. I would add this tastes like sour beef. If you like sour beef you will love this roast. If you're not a fan I would pass on this recipe.
Browning meat in a pot with lid on is steaming not browning. Season roast, put in pan with hot oil and brown on all sides. Then put in crock pot. No coke!!
Smothering a beautiful roast with sugary corn syrup filled Coke? Please! At the very least use natural brown sugar as your sweetening agent. And as for the narrative that the Coke breaks the roast down. Silly! What breaks the roast down is the long term durations of slow cooking.

My family is from Missouri and Kansas.......its like watching my mom cook! Thanks ya'll for this.

I have never heard of sugar in pot roast. You learn something new every day!
Awesome video :)

Use a spoon and pry up the lid a bit to release the pressure.
This looks yummy! Thank you for explaining what the coke does.

Very nice pot roast recipe!
Aloha 😊🤙🏼👏🏼

If you take a spoon, put it in the side of the lid and slightly pry, it'll also pop the seal and you can save the lid
use a rubber gripper for opening lids.
The fond from searing the meat = delicious gravy!
You ladies need a TV show! LOL. Hilarious. (Looks Yum)
Browned meat should look like it's brown. That's why it's called browning.
If you use an Imperial Stout the drippings will be great, adds body and flavor.
looks yummy think I will make this this week 😁 also I enjoyed watching your video
Very nice..was wondering how long you roasted the veggies?
Cool not bad im going too give it a try. looks good makes sense..
( THE JAR)) Next time tap around the lid with something hard. Like the counter edge. Usually does the trick.
Where might your recipes be found?
I don't know WTF happened but between her stabbing the jar top, licking her hand and proceeding to prepare the food, I became disgusted. Also no Pepsi. Smh
To each their own, but a lot of premade processed ingredients in this like coke, onion soup, sugar. I'm sure it tastes good, but fresh is best.
Definitely too many cooks spoil the broth!!
I use coca cola in my pork carnitas but i use the Mexican coke because its made with cane sugar. But i will definitely try in my roast 😊😊😊
I have only recently found out about Mexican coke. There is quite a difference
My grandmother 👵 ❤ to watch the a Martha Stewart.

This was GREAT!! Reminds me of the old SNL skits. Schwetty balls-
Don't keep forking the meat!
What a brilliant video thanks lady’s I really enjoyed it and hope I can be as good as you both it’s nice to see 2 friends in this channel that’s a thumbs up and the bells on let’s see what else you have to offer
I'm sorry my Darlings, --- BUT, I don't "Drizzle" gravy on anything.
I DROWN it in gravy. :-) LOVED your video.
They seem like they hate each other lmfao
Nope. Alice and Jeanne are best friends! Having a conversation with them is hilarious because they interrupt each other all the time and finish each other's thoughts. It's like they think as one!
You seem confused - I find you hard to follow
I agree. And it took that one lady forever to scoop out the brown sugar. Have your ingredients already measured and ready to add for an easy to follow video.
Recipe for chili sauce? Where is it?
No real food? I try to use fresh food at all times
Why do you use a fork? That's not good for the meat!
coke, instant soup mix= fail.
True...why is American cooking always full of junk, chemicals, preservatives, etc. You'd think if you made it yourself you'd try to bypass all that.
lol i got a hot tip..these gals are great!
What temp & time? Not good ladies.
Cook in slow cooker on low 8 to 10 hours. This and more info about this recipe can be found here: www.dvo.com/recipes_archive/slow-cooker-pot-roast_video.html
They gave temps and time
LISTEN!
Love this video. The ladies are both cute.
Kim P n
Really??? What a couple of nuts!!
You could cook this all day long ladies, lol
Should have shown the pot roast in the crockpot after it's done cooking! 😋 Also, I'll take the leftovers and make some roast beef hash 😊
The best way to open a jar easily, is to hit the sides of the lid with the blunt side of a butter knife, I luv these old ladies! TA TI DA TI DA
How do you print out the recipes for this roast
copy and paste into a word document then print that.
Could have put coke in chilli jar to rinse it out into the pot !
This video is just like mom on the phone.
I'm gonna go get myself a man's recipe.
Stabbed the jar lol. Actually take a butter knife and hit the lid inch the direction you open it to loosen.
did you seriously stick in the fork after closing the meat?!?!?!?!?!?
Can I use diet Coke ??
No! Aspartame is bad for you and worse when it gets hot.
I made this true to the recipe. Thank you ladies for making this video. I would add this tastes like sour beef. If you like sour beef you will love this roast. If you're not a fan I would pass on this recipe.
I don't even drink pop sodas alone , sugar , tomatoes , what !!!!!!
martha rauf
You guys are so cute!!
I would have liked it except for too much talking
I make a turkey pot roast with turkey thighs
Browning meat in a pot with lid on is steaming not browning. Season roast, put in pan with hot oil and brown on all sides. Then put in crock pot. No coke!!
why did it had to be coke... can I use pepsi instead??
I use Dr. Pepper instead when I find a recipe that says Coke. I think it gives much better flavor. But yes, you can use Pepsi instead of Coke.
What a great Idea, I love Dr. Pepper. Thanks for the suggestion.
Should be called "slow cooking pot roast while off your meds"
lmao
Omg. Hahhaha
channel locks can open the jar
oh good god! coke huh?lol
Coke is an ingredient along with brown sugar in preparing honey baked ham
Where did you get the liquid - Did you drain it from the crock pot - when did you use the onion soup? - Did I miss something
She put in the onion soup mix when the other lady was stabbing the chili jar, so you might have missed it.
Not organized for sure 🤦♀️
Brown Sugar and Coca-cola. Are you candying that roast?
Are there more videos of those girls, love them
Can I use strawberry soda instead of coke?
God, I hope not. Coke is bad enough. Also Chile sauce?
You don't even need to put a hole in a jar literally just tap the lid with a spoon
ABSURD
Painful to watch I stopped and skipped forward most of it, and still cannot be arsed to watch the end.
The coke made me run away, sorry lady's,I'm out.
Just lost me. Sugar a no no..
Silly coke brown sugar....
Too much work
coke in a pot roast? are you two crazy?
Sorry. BUT TWO OF YOU TALKING SAME TIME THIS AND THAT IT'S VERY CONFUSING 😕 😅🤔 .....?
I much prefer cooking wine to Coca Cola which isn’t good for you, too much sugar.......
Meat not browned in that pot and SUGER IN A POT ROAST! No Thank You!
Their gravy is way too thin!
To much back and forth in this video.
Turned off when I saw the coke! Smh
Coke and brown sugar are two ingredients for honey baked ham
Does not look good to me.
%z
Smothering a beautiful roast with sugary corn syrup filled Coke? Please! At the very least use natural brown sugar as your sweetening agent. And as for the narrative that the Coke breaks the roast down. Silly! What breaks the roast down is the long term durations of slow cooking.
I am sorry to see all that sugar going in. Onions and vegetables are full of sugars. I am worried for people's health.
Coke is awful - no way.
Ugh
You lost me at the soda and processed soup mix. This is NOT cooking and it's certainly not traditional! Dislike
