A video like this is very nice for watching the speaker project come together. It's all the work that has to be done on the front end - calculating enclosure volumes, designing crossovers, predicting baffle step and boundary effects - that is far less glamorous but sets really great projects apart from the 'good' ones.
I really like those little speakerboxes you made! Maybe I would add a really low frequent highpass filter, to secure the speakers against deep bass they are not able to reproduce anyways. It would make them more stable at higher loads.
A most excellent little project. You could have easily bettered the design by using differential cabinet (non-cube) panels, chamfer completely the front round hole edges you mounted the driver to, make a SMALL slitted port on one panel. Did you test stuffing acoustic foam in the cabinet?
Kirdy, I just started to watch your videos. Your work looks amazing. I thinking I found my new hobby for the summer. I got into wood working several years back and now have been having trouble thinking about what eles I could be making. This is giving me a new direction. Goal: 5.1 surroundsound and soundbar with woofer.
I would be curious to see if you could do an updated video of this project with currently available items. Love this video and plan on doing this project! Just subscribed!
You posted this awhile ago and just want to say I'm viewing it now and am amazed at your work. I guess it came up on my recommended because I've been looking for pure one speaker cube like box speaker combo for my computer since I have very high quality speakers/subs that I just have laying around. Amazing video, keep up the great work! Looks amazing!
Hello Friend! Its content is exceptional! These are works that inspire so many people (including me) to want to produce their own material! Thank you very much!!
Found a free pair of cabs with a 12", 6" and tweeters in both. The 12s didn't have cones but I tested the 6s and tweeters and they sound pretty amazing, especially for being on the side of the road, and they look to be in great condition. Can't wait to turn them into pc monitors.
Weird but honest question ... what's that jam playing in the background during the speaker build? Toe tappin' head bobbin' goodness is what it's all about. Nice speakers too Kirby.
Nice job, beautiful look. I assume you were trying to make low-fidelity Auratone / Avantone style mixing check monitors. If not, and you wanted good fidelity, you should always choose a properly sized / tuned enclosure that is also not a cube. But either way, one of the most beautiful speakers I have seen.
Baffle Step Correction needed? Kirby and other commentators. I'm in the middle of building one of these speaker peairs. Really fun and I'm surrounded by the right tools. Loving the project in short. However in a later tower speaker pair I saw you put in baffle step corrections. Would these little boys benefit from a high roll off corrections and if so what would you look for? I'm just starting my research but I would like to make these little ones sound as good as possible.
Fantastic speaker and video! When my son asks me what I mean by doing it right, I'm going to show him this video. Have you done a transmission line speaker with one of the full range Tang Band speakers (4")?
De como se escuchan estaría genial que nos pudieras poner una prueba de la calidad de sonido digo es solo un comentario si no quieres pues no pasa nada
Kirby, I have done 2 speaker builds now, partly inspired by you.. Thanks!!! Also was wondering what drivers you are using in the cubes and in the mini towers?? Thanks in advance.
one thing I would like to see is a quick play of the sound quality with a frequency analyzer review as well to prove how well they are performing.
agreed

This is the best DIY speaker video in terms of visual appeal!
Beautifuly done.
Great vid, very entertaining and light, no nonsense talking or time wasting clips.
Pretty nice, i will recommend creating portholes at the rear too

simply DOPE, i think I will be making this for a Christmas gift

These look incredible and seem like a great build project. Curious how they sound? Especially compared to the micro towers you for the same speakers.
ughhhh those look so so good! seriously- you've inspired me.
The organ in the intro was siiiick. Nice find 👍

Those are beautiful speakers! Well done!
Thank you!

Thanks so much! Good luck on your project!
Awe, those are so cute! ❤
beautiful speakers, and cool dog too!
Thank you! Her name is Penny :)
Hey, merci je garde un oeil ouvert pour les plans. merci
Je vous remercie! Les plans devraient être prêts au cours des prochaines semaines. Je vais probablement faire une vidéo pour les anoncer.
what a nice design!
Thank you, Michael!
very nice look ! but how it sound ?
Dude you are literally who I aspire to be! I am going to give this a try.... Not going to workout, but I will try hahaha
Trying is what matters! You'll learn so much through your small failures. Thanks for watching!
could you answer to your own comment how they sound? :)
Anton J. I will make a video of the build.
A stunning pair of speakers! And a good view from the workshop too.
Nice video, thanks.
Thanks for watching, Norman!
Now if I could just afford all that fancy woodworking equipment I could go into the speaker cabinet business❗🤓
You don't have to have All those fancy equipment 😁
What kind of wood did you use?
Pine?
Yes, the enclosure is made from pine and the front and back baffles are made from redwood. Thanks for watching!
Jeremy Clarkso
So bloody tidy! Loving your work!
Thank you!
I love your skill
I really want this cube speaker
Só faltou o video dela tocando para a gente ver o som!
Just missed the video of her playing for us to see the sound!
Damn! That's a funky jam! Dig it!
Please do a diy woodworking guide to make the enclosure look good.
Hello Friend! Its content is exceptional! These are works that inspire so many people (including me) to want to produce their own material! Thank you very much!!
Thats so kind! I really hope you do make your own. Thanks for watching!
How do they sound?
You have a bit of a wave guide going on there. Does it sound good?
I don't understand why this chanel doesn't have like 2mil subs
So awesome!!! Extremely satisfying to watch!! Thanks!
look like a pro speaker factory build... awesome!
Thank you Antony!
Hi love the video, could u tell me what angle u cut the wood at? Thanks
Strangely satisfying!
Sweet! What was the speaker you used, and how do these compare to the Auratone Cube?
Thank you Kirby! This is amazing
That's beautiful 🙏🏿👈🏿
HELL YEAH!!! Amazing project! Damn cool video! Thank you! You got yourself a new subscriber!
Welcome! Thank you!
Same here

Hey! What is the punch that you use to mark your wood with??? Thanks!
Haha I’ve never seen the sticky tape vice trick for box corners, nice.
Good work, how it would have looked with colors in reverse, black front and wood finish the rest 👍
That would have been a good option too! Thanks for watching.
Talent!!! Great Video
Thank you!
Hi, I stumbled upon this video through a RUclips suggestion. Great work! Both speakers and video quality are both excellent. Subscribed!
Thank you!
What did you use to apply the stain?
beautiful work mate love it
Thank you, Joshua!
Nice craftsmanship! What sort of filters do you use for baffle step compensation?
What kind of wood are you normally using?
I'm planning on building two sets of these :) Love you builds. Keep em' coming Kirby!!
Seems amazing man! very cool
Thank you!
I love these full range speakers from dayton audio.
Excellent video. Great job all around. Thank you for sharing it with us!
Wow these look amazing! So what is you preferred method of hooking these passive speaker up to a computer?
these are very beautiful but why do you not make two way speaker systems? and do you ever use damping material to improve frequency respounce?
i believe it is full range.
What did you put on the wood so it turned black ?
What size drivers are these? Curious what they sound like!
Is there a specific reason for the cedar?
Arent cubes the worst shape for standing waves? This seems like a good experiment but really wondering how that box sounds at that size!
So these are meant to be driven from an external audio amp, is that right. The wiring looks to be straight from the speaker to the output ports?
Hiii bro I love your speaker box
Amazing atmosphere and professionally put together video and project! Well done!
Thank you!
Weird but honest question ... what's that jam playing in the background during the speaker build? Toe tappin' head bobbin' goodness is what it's all about. Nice speakers too Kirby.
Thanks, Chris! I made the music with apple loops in Logic.
What Mini amp are you using on these? The one that's on your website.
Great video. What finish was used on the wood? There's no mention anywhere.
Could you use these at Auratone replacements for mixing or would you need a different speaker?
Nice job, beautiful look. I assume you were trying to make low-fidelity Auratone / Avantone style mixing check monitors. If not, and you wanted good fidelity, you should always choose a properly sized / tuned enclosure that is also not a cube. But either way, one of the most beautiful speakers I have seen.
Badass speakers!

Awesome work ❤ wich Kind of wood do use in the front?
Red wood 👌🏻
what type of oil did u use for the speakerbox to get the awesome color ?
Fantastic speaker and video! When my son asks me what I mean by doing it right, I'm going to show him this video. Have you done a transmission line speaker with one of the full range Tang Band speakers (4")?
where the hell can i hear these speakers u made?
Hello , I love your work, it is possible to have the measurements so I could realized this little project , thank you
Hey there! They are 5.5" cubes, with a 3" woofer. Plans coming soon! Keep an eye out.
Awesome! I want to build this myself
Woah I quite like how you build stuff with pure skill! My speaker projects are always done on a CNC ;) Love your work!
Thanks, Nick! I love using CNC. Wish I had one in my shop!
carbide3d.com/shapeoko/ This is what I use, great machine!
Any chance we could get a sound test?
Amazing job!
I have to say beautiful
están muy buenas pero falta la prueba
La prueba de qué?
De como se escuchan estaría genial que nos pudieras poner una prueba de la calidad de sonido digo es solo un comentario si no quieres pues no pasa nada
Looking really nice, but didn't you put acoustic absorber in the box?
Thanks! I did, that might not have made the video, but I filled them with polyfill. Thanks for watching!
Great build! You do have some really nice machinary btw... i'm jealous
Thanks Tijman! I built my first speaker with pretty much just a circular saw, but it does make things easier with some fancy gear!
Kirby,
I have done 2 speaker builds now, partly inspired by you.. Thanks!!! Also was wondering what drivers you are using in the cubes and in the mini towers??
Thanks in advance.
What did you use in the box to make it dark?
i love your job
Me too! haha Thanks!
what size screws did you use for the speakers?
beautiful work.
have one wuestion though. from what i have heard perfect cubes are to be avoided due to some bad effect on the sound. why a cube here?
You´re a Genius
Haha, no way! But thanks for watching!
Hello friend, I'm Brazilian and I liked your project but I have a question, what ink did you use in the project?
bro nice speakers build , my channel belongs to India , can i post this video in my channel for my audience learnt about speakers building ????
Are the empty cubes available for sale by chance? They're really beautiful ~
Beautiful and Inspiring work...is your watch a g-shock?
I like it....
What kind of Varnish and ink you used? Amazing work.
How exactly are they powered?
that's soo cool, I'm trying to build my own version (bigger speakers) any advice ? thanks
so is this box the correct size to get the best sound from the speaker?
absorber staff inside?
Would a slightly larger cube speaker work with multiple drivers (2- or 3-way)? Basically a bookshelf squished into a cube?
