Alex-your tutorials helped us buy a 2022 Subaru Forester Touring. We are both in our 80's and lifetime buyer of GM cars and vans. It was a long 6 month wait for a delivery but worth the wait. We find the safety systems outstanding and in some cases hilarious. While having guests in the back seat, the monitor on the dash kept giving me "pay attention" shout outs. The Touring trim has a center multi-function display just above the touch screen radio where you can access the engine temp. You did an excellent explanation of all the controls in the Forrester. So I don’t believe you need to do any further explanation so far. I definitely will let you know if I still have difficulty with the cruise control once I get out on the freeway next time. Thank you so much Alex. I definitely want to be able to use all the controls in the car especially with putting so much money into it every month. I've always had a Subaru Forester--and when it was time for a new car got a 2021! We had a mild winter and just a few months ago noticed there is no way to down shift to 2nd and 3rd gear which is very helpful when driving in snow. I'm ready to get rid of it and look at Toyotas!!!!
Hi there, thank you for your videos, very helpful. Wondering why the passenger airbag seat light is constantly illuminated, showing "on"' when passenger there & showing "off" when no one there. Seems pointless & is pretty annoying. Anyway to fix it?
I was torn between a Forester and an Outback. I purchased a Forester Touring model, primarily because it was a little more fun to drive than the Outback. Both great vehicles.
Great choice! Can’t go wrong either way. They’re both similar in a lot of ways. Just comes down to which feels most comfortable for you to drive. Enjoy!
So funny, my husband is on his third Outback, I disliked them all. Being a Toyota loyalist, I had my heart set on a Rav-4. I’d have had to buy the most expensive model to get many features that were standard on my Forester premium. I gave my beloved 2006 Matrix (w/few features) to my daughter. Then I want and bought the best vehicle I’ve ever had, 2021 Forester. The fully adjustable seat makes my tailbone injury bearable.
@@Bendix1959 my wife and i were in a similar situation. Shes the toyota gal. Im the subaru guy. It was time for her upgrade from her corolla and she she wanted to be a little higher off the ground than a standard sedan. She looked at ravs but didnt find it very comfortable. She really didnt want to be in an suv sized vehicle anyway, but the biggest turn off was having to go so far up in trims to get simple things like awd and heated seats. Ultimately she ended up in a crosstrek limited and couldnt be happier
The multifunction display videos I have watched are not detailed enough. I would like to see a step by step video of how both screens work and all the possibilities. If you did a video like that how do you advise your viewers that it is available?

cannot get the garage door to open with the button on the rear view mirror. also, can't get the google map navigation to stay on the big screen from the phone. thank you, these videos are very helpful.
I brought my Subaru Forester in Feb 2021. I was given a one time quick 15 min walk through on all of the technology in the car. I was left with a lot of questions. I just found your site. It answered all of my questions. I have a bit of a concern about my car. I am wondering if you can help me out. You mentioned in your video, that the car can get 29mpg. I have only gotten up to 26mpg on the average. Two weeks ago, I filled it full of gas and parked in my driveway for 2 days. For the first 73 miles, it slowly went from 16mpg to 22. It won't go pass that. I am now back to half a tank of gas. I live in Orange County, CA. I drive the streets a lot more than I do the freeways. Appreciate any help you can give me. Thank you again for a great video!!
Alex, this has been puzzling me since I purchased the car. After I unlock the car, open the rear gate from the dash, take out the groceries, and then attempt to close AND lock with the button on the rear gate, it does not always work. It seems to be hit or miss. Or am I doing something wrong? I usually then, just push the close button next to it on the gate, and lock the vehicle with the fob. Is there something wrong?
Hey Carol, I'm not sure what could be wrong. I'll do some testing myself to see if I experience any intermittent problems with it. I'll let you know if I find something out
Hi Alex. I like your videos, helps me a lot. I’ve had my Subaru Forester since May 2021 and need to know if the xmode lights stay on even when my car if off. Thanks.
Thank you Alex for another excellent video! I do have a question about the description of Xmode at approx. 15:30. My understanding is that the Forester’s awd system in standard or default mode shifts power from the wheels without traction to those that have it. I thought that Xmode is more for getting unstuck or avoiding getting stuck in snow , sand, or mud by actually turning off that diverting of power from one wheel to another allowing all the wheels to spin more freely. I have a Forester Wilderness with 2 Xmodes, but I think the same thing applies. A recent Driving Sports TV video and subsequent discussion covered this. The Forester standard or default awd was said to be best for hard slippery surfaces, whereas X mode was best for not being stuck in snow, mud, or sand. Please let me know if I’ve got that right?
Hi Alex, your Vids re great help thanks heaps. Question, how can I reduce the SatNav voice notifications in my MY21 Forester, I don't want to mute it just reduce the AMOUNT of notifications as it currently calls out way too many instructions?
Hello! Just purchased my first ever Subaru, a used (new to me) 2020 Forester Premium. My question is, when my phone is linked to Apple Car Play, and a call comes in, the MPH disappears from the center display and is replaced with the words Phone Call. Is there a way for me to not have it say phone and keep the mph there? The way I sit and the way I have the steering wheel set, the speedometer dial is somewhat hidden from view, so I like the digital display in the center. Thank you for any advice you can give me. I am totally enjoying your videos - learning so much!

Happy to help! Thanks for watching and subscribing! Let me know if you have any questions on your Forester 😊
This was an excellent video and very helpful.
The multifunction display videos I have watched are not detailed enough. I would like to see a step by step video of how both screens work and all the possibilities. If you did a video like that how do you advise your viewers that it is available?
I’ll work on that! If you’re subscribed and click the bell icon it will notify you when I post new videos. You can also see a catalog of videos in each playlist.
Really great job on this video! Thanks for the intro to the buttons.
Thank you!
Been a Subie girl since 2000. I currently have a 2014 Forester Preium and a 2021 Ascent.
You’ve got me beat!
Very helpful but I was interested in getting assistance on the maps/navigation system that comes with my new 22 Forrester. Do you have a video on this? Thanks. Patrick Wilson
I would love the link to sync my garage door opener with my mirror. Thank you.
How do you take off the panel? The button for the bright adjustment of the screen was pushed in.
Great video. Easy to follow. You have a great voice! I'm not as overwhelmed with everything.
Thanks so much! I really appreciate that. Happy to hear you found this helpful!
@@alexpmo Hey Alex - is there a way to change programming features without the car running? If that makes sense...
@@keyboardbabe1 not sure. Maybe I’m not totally understanding though. What setting are you trying to adjust?
@@alexpmo When I select and hold the INFO button and want to change the clock, etc, does the car have to be running or is there a way to change without the car running.
Great video, thank you! Do you know how to turn off the reminder to check the rear seat when you turn off the car? My baby is often asleep and I hate all the beeping!
i have 2024subaru foester limited need to know how to sync my garage opener to my vehicle. i believe i heard you talk about a button on the visor area that will perform this
I would like to know how to change channels and folders on a floppy disk inserted in Subaru Forester
@Alex Pmo, could you do a video on what feature we need to turn off for car wash please? I just got the forester and I am struggling with the new function and technology. Thank you in advance, Alex.
Yes, I’ll work on that for you and post a link to it here once it’s finished!

Hi Alex nice video. I have a Subaru Forester 2022 and the rear camera guide lines has gone! Do you have any video of this issue?
Is there a tutorial for setting the garage door opener on the rear view mirror?
It’s Fun to put your Subie in Deep snow and mud while having fun on a snowy empty parking lot or in muddy conditions.
Please explain in more detail the X Modes on the Forester Premium and Base level models. On the Limited and up levels there are more selections in X Mode and nobody covers the detail uses and what do you give up in the Premium model.
cannot get the garage door to open with the button on the rear view mirror. also, can't get the google map navigation to stay on the big screen from the phone. thank you, these videos are very helpful.
Alex, please! Can you give a link for tutorial, how to sinc mirrors battons with garage gates? Please!
Yes, here you go! ruclips.net/video/QpWzHUpmJ98/видео.htmlsi=bIHXF4J4UYHNoghB
I'll let you know if I find something out
@@alexpmo thanks! At least I WAS able to change the time on the clock🤦🏻♀️
@@33harmoni1 That can be a tough one depending on the car 🤣
Thanks for this great video!! I am just trying to learn about my new car!!
You’re welcome! Glad you found it helpful. Let me know if you have any questions as you’re learning your new car!
You missed one. The red "N" on the right side of the mirror shows the direction the vehicle is facing. In this case, "North".
Hi Alex. I like your videos, helps me a lot. I’ve had my Subaru Forester since May 2021 and need to know if the xmode lights stay on even when my car if off. Thanks.
Need information on how to adjust radio speakers.

2021 Subaru Forrester. How do you keep the lights from coming on when the switches in the off position?
Hi Alex, great video but you missed how to turn on the interior roof lights, and what does the switch on the right do? Thanks

At 13:10 next to the cabin lamps there are two small square led windows. What are they for? I have seen a blue lamp in one of them.

Is it possible to lock the car with the key fob or another way to include the tailgate from opening manually from the outside back button?
How do you get your reversing camera on a 2018 XV to indicate car direction in reverse. When new the reverse camera did make this indication on the screen!
I have a 2019 Forester Touring. Is there anyway to loop or save front camera images in case of an accident?
