- Among the most striking visual changes added to Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition are the new building collapse animations, which are always satisfying to watch. This is a compilation of all castle collapses (11 different architecture styles) with a few bonus demolitions at the end (Krepost, Fortress, Poenari Castle & castle building foundation). Enjoy!
Hope you don't mind the controlled demolition gimmick... I quite like how it turned out.

Cumans weren't muslim.
They practised old turkic customs i.e. shamanism or tengriism. They had also a christian minority folk among them.

Kotan Khan was a close relative of Khwarazmian Shah Ala ad-Din Muhammad(The biggest muslim leader of their time ), also Kotan was staunch supporter of Merged Clan who was personal sworn enemy of Chinges khan. Due to these reasons, Chinges khan ordered Bat and Subodai to eliminate Kotan Khan and the Cumans, Russians and Hungarians were just in the way, They were never the Prime target of invasion until much later.

@@Jirachi69 Mediterranean refers more to southern europe. Culturally, spain and Italy have more in common with greece than france. Linguistically it's the exact opposite.

I like how there’s regional similarities. Kinda ties different civs together. The civ-specific architecture is what wonders are for.

Thank you very much for compiling these. Its so satisfying to watch. Microsoft did a very good job at making all these crumbling structures. Half of me feels so fulfilled just by looking at these. The other half is beating up people in multiplayer.

They all fall straight down the exact same way, it's not like one of the towers falls inwards and smashes into another or something.

I’d like to see how they actually did this.. i mean they had to build it in 3D brick by brick up to a significant level of detail before they put it in the physics sim
they probably already had the 3d models since they made them in the first place. All they needed to do is feacture the model which is very easy with todays software and boom, launch the physics sim.
That effect when the building become darker like a bulb light when getting burnt should be modified also makes the collapsing look unreal, then all the effects that come out next are fine.

Your Executioner Normally the building gets gradually more damaged and thus darker in appearance, concluding in the destruction of the whole building. Because in this video the buildings get destroyed immediately it looks a little awkward, because the transition is so sudden.
#BONUS : I know Krespost is constructable, but what about Fortress ? Still only available in editor ?
India has now become such a unique civilization in the Definitive Edition. No other civilization shares its architecture. In the original design of the expansion "The Forgotten empires", the buildings of the Indian civilization were still designed in the Middle eastern type. The buildings of the Byzantine civilization were also switched from the Middle eastern type to the Mediterranean type. Likewise the buildings of the Spanish civilization got switched from the Western European type to the Mediterranean type to suit the Italians and the Portuguese and I thought the architecture of the Vietnamese was going to be of South-east Asian design but shares the East Asian type similar to the Mongols, Chinese, Koreans and Japanese.

It always breaks my immersion how in videogames, they always include France as Western alongside Brittain and Netherlands or Germany, and then they include Spain as Mediterranean alongside Italy and Greece.
Spain's Architecture is far more like France's than it is like Italy's or Greece's. And France's Architecture is far more like Spain's than it is like Brittain's or Germany's.
This is expecially outrageous in medieval games, since the Architecture of the Catholic Iberian Kingdoms was Romanesque and later Gothic, literally copied from France.
IMO the "West European" style should just be called North European style, and a new actually West European style should be made for the Franks, Spaniards and Portuguese.

I can see that.
Spanish architecture is heavily influenced by the Moors though. There is so much diverse cultural history in Spain you'd be busy forever trying to represent it in the game.
I think the reason the Brirons and the Franks have the same style in AoE at least is because of the Normans invading Britain.

Finally. The Byzantines using the Middle-Eastern architecture has been irking me since I first saw them back in the day. Glad they fixed it after so long.

The most true to life destructions will be in Mount and Blade Bannerlord, check out that game if you like medieval warfare.

Well I think the Indian Architecture used here is meant ro reflect the Mughal influence which was heavily Central Asian

It's a weird one - the best way I know is to spawn a hawk/macaw and then instantly kill it via triggers (creates the explosion effect for some reason). If you listen closely you'll hear a few hawk screeches as the explosions kick in. I did multiple takes for some of them because I didn't want some random bird screeching every time a castle blew up

In Game, the Mongols use East Asian. In real life the Mongols invasion of china and become Yuan Dynasty and chinese influence. Also, Mongol empire capital is Karakorum which architecture palace looks chinese.
