you probably dont care at all but does someone know a method to get back into an instagram account..?
I was stupid lost my login password. I appreciate any tips you can give me.
"[Final Fight Streetwise] THREATENED to come out later that winter" is probably one of my favorite phrases I've heard in a while.
All that is left to say is:
Thank GOD this isn’t how streets of rage 4 turned out.
2006 was the year everyone jumped onto the "darker and edgier reboot" train, wasn't it?
Yup, that shitty year began the "Real is brown" era.
@@KaiserMattTygore927 I'll never understand that mindset. Why brown instead of just a bit of desaturation? Have these people ever even been outside? There are so many colors that just pop when it's midday, especially outside of metropolitan settings.
It would be more appropriate to say they jump in front of the train.
Reboots yes, but the edgy mentality started well past the 90s
@@KaiserMattTygore927 Brown bothers you that much, hmm?
The story of FFSW is a story with a moral most company execs seem to never learn. Don't chase trends especially if you're using an established IP
@@GiordanDiodato Nioh wasn't an established IP though.
@@JFJD BEST. JINGLE. EVER.
*coughs* Assassin's Creed Odyssey *coughs*
Trends usually happen for a reason: because they were good. Then devs get lazy, and it brings the trend down. So the lesson here REALLY is to actually give a damn and actually try to innovate instead of doing something "because everyone else was."
Looks at anime. People never learn. Now we got people say Edgy protagonist from anime are breath of fresh air now. I'm looking at them like have you seen the early 2000s too late 2000s. I already had my fill of dark gritty protagonist and story. Especially if you're 90s kid That grew up to this generation with all that.
Maaaaan, I'm imagining this game redone in the style of Yakuza. It's not that far off. Just add some better fasttravel, make the city feel more alive and colorful instead of the GTA nonsense, heck go for the gusto with a plot and side missions that make use of Street Fighter and Final Fight lore. There's a lot of options I'm sad they didn't make use of just hearing about all this.
Sadly Yakuza wasnt doing well back then since kids liked their GTAs and would go "what the fuck is this fake shit?" Thankfully we have now left that era so if Capcom would try to make something like this with abit more budget I can see it succeed.
And remove the guns like seriously this is final fight not gta.
I loved and replayed Streetwise and Beatdown countless times. I still don't know why people think they're bad.
The swearing montage in a japanese game was hilarious 😂
the unknown character in Seven Sons is most likely if not defenitly Dean from Final Fight 3, and from the look of it, the game was supposed to feature a similar combat style to Final Fight 3 with special attacks and powers.
Yeah he looks a lot like him
The character had a move where he engulfs his fist in lightning and punches straight, so it could’ve been Dean since he has lightning-based attacks. Though one of Kyle’s earlier designs looks similar to the one in Seven Sons.
I only remember this game becuase years ago my friend and I went to San Diego Comic con and Capcom had a booth there. They had grab bags that I think where $10 or $15. I got two and both had Final Fight Streetwise in them. At least the other stuff in the bags were cool. Megaman alarm clock, SF4 headband, Megaman Star Force Pegasus, and Zac and Wikki stickers. All I remember thinking when I opened the first one was, "Sweet. A game. Hope it goods." But when I opened the second one and saw it again, I thought, "Both bags? Oh no. This doesn't seem like a good sign."
Edit: I forgot. Both also had a copy of Beat down.
WOW
Matt!
Do a WHA HAPPUN to the Legacy of Kain series! Particularly the sadness that is the Nosgoth arena fighter replacing Dead Sun. I mean, it's a goddamn tragedy and will break my heart hearing the story again, but the people must know!
Sad thing is, even Dead Sun looked nothing like what LoK actually was. For as shitty as Nosgoth was, at least it took place in the same world and tried to reference the old games. Dead Sun didn't even seem to take place in the same world, the characters were uninteresting and confusing, didn't seem to have any ties to the original story or characters. It even had a dick joke, for hell's sake, like what the fuck? I'm probably in the minority of people that are actually kinda glad that shit show got scrapped, since at least it didn't get the chance to disgrace the series like Nosgoth did.
I will agree on the WHA HAPPUN episode suggestion for Nosgoth, though.
MagicalManFromMars actually it looked a LOT like how the original Blood Omen looked in terms of art and atmosphere.
1r0zz same series? yes. same game? no. I'm comparing Dead Sun to Blood Omen, not the rest of the series which was vastly different from the rest of the series in terms aesthetics, music, and gameplay. The original blood omen was a ravenloft inspired, gothic western, dark fantasy, adventure game in the vein of Zelda. The music was much more dark and atmospheric rather than the dark industrial electronica inspired soundtrack.
Dead Sun's aesthetics and tone were much more inline with it rather the rest of the series. This is ESP evident in the music which is/was EXTREMELY reminiscent of Blood Omen's.
MagicalManFromMars totally in agreement. What happened to the awesome scripts, amazing voice acting. It looked like a pile of crap to me.
I’m not normally one who has issues with “bad language” but it was so glaringly out of place in an LoK game I couldn’t take it. Pissed me off when playing Nosgoth let alone in Dead Sun.
Thank God it didn’t come out
@@MagicalManFromMars Nosgoth didn't even follow the lore correctly, what are you talking about?
all you say is true, but when I played this game i loved it, especially the fighting mechanics
I'm gonna bet Keiji Inafune had some influence in the transition to the dark and gritty style. A ton of fuck ups in Capcom can be directly linked to him, so I wouldn't be surprised.
Where the heck was all this info before Mighty No. 9? The more I hear about Inafune, the more insane it is that people JUST knew him as 'the creator of Megaman' and nobody was really warning people about all the stupid decisions he made.
dracocrusher probably because until later on Megaman was always seen as a game series that was cherished by many and had very few faults.
@@whiteninji352
But why was that the ONLY thing Inafune was known for when he was behind so many other massive Capcom failures? Even the SuperbestFriends got duped by the whole Mighty No. 9 thing.
@@dracocrusher didn't he have a part in dead rising
Luckily we all made it past Conmans level.
Imagine how this could look today under the creators of the Yakuza games.
Considering that you guys make fun of it a lot and it's a 3D beat-em up, how about a what happun of "The Bouncer"
I was about to write the same comment.
but the bouncer isn't that bad, i enjoyed it, sure it has some big flaws but i don't think it would deserve to be on "what happun"
gigaganon it does
@@gigaganon lol i enjoyed beatdown more than the bouncer, most boring shit ever...
And that's another game everyone hates that I really enjoyed. It's definitely flawed, and more than a bit fucking stupid, but it's a fun game for what it is, especially considering it was a really early PS2 game. That and the bit where the soldiers airdrop themselves out of a plane in metal torpedo casings that leave their feet sticking out when they land cracks me up every time.
Some obvious suggestions are Godhand, Two Worlds, and Kingdoms of Amalur.
It got its credit the week after reviews slammed it. Fact of the matter is a lot of people truly are A) terrible at the game and diss it or B) had no intention of buying it regardless of what anyone said.
Kingdoms of Amalur was a preety good game, but Curt Shilling was a shit business man.
@@supersasukemaniac kingdoms of amulor was a amazing rpg i loved it to death ill never forget the battle agasint that giants cyclops which changes the cutscene depending on your class
@@fistoftheworldking3834 I'm both terrible at the game and bought/ loved it.
Honestly it would be gnarly to see Seven Son's Demo released to the world. Knowing how the unreleased games Dinosaur Planet and Magic Castle were released to everyone that wanted to emulate these games.
The saddest part to rewatch this video is looking at Seven Sons and thinking how cool it looks. It's the kind of game I'd be so excited to have on my ps2
Final Fight-Streetwise was not a perfect game. However, there was quite a bit to like. I enjoyed the story, the fighting, the surprise Capcom characters appearances & the soundtrack. The soundtrack was slamming'. Plus, it's a very dope side scrolling "new" arcade version that is unlockable through beating the game. Very Underrated!!!!!!!!!!!!
I had so much fun with FFSW. Even tho i knew it was bad, I actually had a ton of fun. No matter how bad a game is, if you have fun with it, it can be the best game and no one can say otherwise.
Beat Down is actually an awesome game. I played it and completed it back in the day. The character customization is awesome, story is anime but its good enough, and the combat is kinda fun.
@@shawnganske8731 i agree! it has a charm :3 wow... a year already passed wtf..
Growing up, I actually loved FFSW. Still do. So I was quite surprised when I found out about all the negativity associated with the game. Kinda breaks my heart. Haven't played it in over a decade. Won't forget all the great memories.
I started playing it for the first time a few months ago, I own it but I don't know how I own it. It's good! It's legitimately good, I'm enjoying it. Hitting someone with a baseball bat in this game is so satisfying. And I love how it's like an RPG in the Final Fight world. Plus it has the original Final Fight in it, so if you get bored you can play that instead. How can it be worse than original Final Fight, when it contains original Final Fight inside itself. I think it's been very unfairly maligned!
people can’t enjoy anything anymore
it is a great game. i still fear those japanese girls in japan town. those that dodge out of combos. great arcade mode too.
lol i just made the same comment...still have my xbox copy...
Y'know, I feel really bad for Trent. Those designs looked pretty good, especially Poison and Sodom.
And as for a suggestion, how about the cancelled Legacy of Kain game Dead Sun? It was turned into Nosgoth and yeah...
He did it now,yay.
Beat Down: Fist of Vengeance? Man, that’s the second time this week that game is mentioned towards me. The mid-2000s were the time of EDGE!!!
I hope there's a death by degrees video in the future.
Wow that Seven Sons early build looks AWESOME!! I'd love to play it even now. But no, some idiot in a suit had to go and ruin it for everybody.
I found this channel by accident. And what a happy accident it was! These are great!
Well Jr Welcome to the Flophouse!
"Cammy-O cameo"
Throwing shade at street fighter was uncalled for hahaha 😭
Now I know the true reason Cody went to jail, he was punished for being involved with this game.
This game not only tried to be GTA, but it straight up jumps the shark and tries to be Resident Evil towards the end. There are literal zombies and monster type bosses. It goes off the rails with all these twists and reveals and I forgot I was playing a Final Fight game.
Wait a second, so the Capcom higher ups wanted a grounded and gritty "realistic" game, yet completely forgot the last quarter of the game everyone became fucking zombies and you end up fighting a stupidly OP zombie in a graveyard out of nowhere? If anything, the Final Fight character cameos would be the least of it's problem
2:06 Sunnyvale, CA: Before the bombs fell.
Interesting video as always. This series is great! I appreciate the work you put into the research, the editing, the clear and concise voice-over, and the placement of relevant footage in all of them. Please keep up the good work as long as you’re willing and able.
I don't know about all you guys but I liked this game. I wish they would have made the last streets of rage game like this since these 2 games are damn near the same.
This game is one of my guilty pleasures. I beat this game a few times
I might be one of the few people who enjoyed this game, despite it's flaws.
playahsan my brother from another mother
I enjoyed it thoroughly, even with its flaws. Still have the PS2 copy.
I didn’t even know this game existed!
If Streets of Rage could make a comeback It makes me hope that we get a new Final Fight preferably 2D (Though I wouldn't mind 3D) and throw Kyle in there again as one of the playable characters why not.
Agreed! I actually like FINAL FIGHT: STREETWISE and want another 3D FINAL FIGHT beat em’ up!!
sometimes i forget just how gorgeous gymnopedie no 1 is, then i hear it and it's just like "oh right this song is a classic that is above most music ever created and it's gorgeous"
who came here after AVGN's episode about Final Fight Streetwise?
Me!
Well yeah.
Same
Yeah that was how I found Wha Happun?
Yeah pretty much that’s how found Matt mcmuscles channel and what happened series.
Loved beat down 😂
"Wanker, that's all you'll ever be!"
@@lewdvlesh yes! I feel a modern day release would have suited it well. 😂
@@EvilRyuGuy the guy should be in some crossover games 😂 his fight intro and outros would be amazing.
yep, i loved beatdown lol
I actually really enjoyed this game. I used to stay up with my brothers and try to beat it. Sucks that it got this bad of ratings and everything
It’s funny they drew inspiration from Rockstar to make a gritty, semi open world, beat em up type of game, only for Rockstar to do the same and succeed, The Warriors lol
wait...Maximo was GHOSTS AND GOBLINS?!??
This was one of the games I played and replayed the most as a kid, it was one of games that made me love videogames, so I have a lot of nostalgia for it. Replaying it recently, I can see issues with it, but it aint that bad imo
The game is honestly not half bad, unpolished yes but it definitely had potential, i enjoyed the hell out of it
Haze when?
i like this game. the arcade mode is fun. it works just fine. enough combos to choose from. no bugs that i encountered. i still play it today. all the hate on this game is not justify.
This game is fun as hell btw
It’s so weird watching this video knowing the song Zanarkand from Final Fantasy X is playing in the background
more of these! i love this series
Honestly I loved this game. Played it when I was like 14/15. Tbf though I hadn't played the earlier games in the series so wasn't expecting that classic beat em up style.
Try Lair, I would like to see why a Dragon Flight game made by the people behind Rogue Squadron went so wrong, I also know that it was at one point going to be based on the Dragonlance setting from D&D and combined with the mandate from Sony to force Motion controls it must have an interesting story behind its development.
Well, if we can at least extract ONE positive from Final Fight Streetwise is the fact that Kyle is actually canon in the SF universe. Capcom's Character Database site "Shadaloo CRI" actually has his profile and kinda confirms that he's "someone's younger brother", and Kyle looks WAAAAY better on that artwork.
And now, with SF6 on the horizon, who knows? Maybe THIS might be the time to give Metro City's streetwise brawler a second chance??
You should do Urban Reign in this. Urban Reign is one of those games that got review bombed around the period it came out and I'll never understand it. It's ome of the most solid beat 'em ups I've played, and most reviews thst bash it are basically "it's too hard and it made me angry".
Oh wow! One of my best friends growing up had BOTH Streetwise and Beatdown! We had fun with the two player Streetwise but about the only thing I remember about Beatdown is "You don't know shite about shite!"
Hot dang! That internal Seven Sons looked great and would definitely have been greenlit in todays more nostalgia friendly market.
You’ve talked about final fight revenge , with plopping in your 4m fam cart or pseudo Saturn flashed action replay
It's a huge shame, I quite enjoyed Final Fight Streetwise and Beatdown Fists of Vengeance, they're both just goofy fun games. Atleast you got to make an Let's Play out of Streetwise Matt. :D
RUclips: “Matt has a new video!”
Me: “Wha Happun to my pants?!”
Man, the most noteworthy thing about Beat Down is that it was developed by Cavia.
Seriusly? I used to play the game a lot and not only loved the combat, but also that sick ost. Funny thing, I remember buying both Streetwise and Beat Down and enjoyed this one the most
Streetwise was a solid 7/10 in my opinion. Had good controls, decent story, great soundtrack but bad camera angles. I still got some good enjoyment out of it.
I wish Capcom would have went with Final Fight Seven Sons.
I remember my brother playing this game when I was a kid on the PS2, him getting towards the final mission he got really mad because of the bad game mechanics and he broke the disc
Matt McMuscles that's character you're seeing at around 5:40 seems like Dean from Final Fight 3 he has the same lighting thrust hit as a special the unnamed character has and is dressed very similarly Although not seeing his 360 spin hit.
Yo Matt, i remember back in 2008 a trailer for a highlander game being developed by eidos and published by square enix came out. Then it vanished until almost 3 years later where it was announced to be cancelled.
Question: How do you unlock the Final Fight arcade game on Final Fight Streetwise?
Answer: Just buy either the Capcom Classics Collection for either the PS2 or Xbox, or the Capcom Beat 'em Up Bundle for either the PS4, Xbox One or the Nintendo Switch.
What Happened? Bionic Commando 09, and Mega Man X7.
Gauntlet Seven Sorrows was a dumpster fire wha happun to that one?
Damn, Seven Sons looked like a really fun game.
Remember, Woolie beat The Stiff on his first try.
15:32....what song is that..i know Ive heard it before...
14:18
"Cammy-Os"
You gotta admit, even during the PS2/Gamecube era, Capcom sure had some duds like this one.
I'm not sure if it's worthy of a full episode or even a What Happun episode, but I'm really curious if there were issues with the development of DC versus Mortal Kombat.
Maybe even Wolfenstein 2009 or one of the Soul Caliber games.
i might be the only one to say this, but this game was amazing in my opinion.
yes, you are.
@@MattMcMuscles i been watching most of your videos for the past few hours while playing games, its great background information. im okay with being the 1% to like it
I loved this game! And beatdown, the bouncer, urban reign. Beat em ups are my fav genre and it needs a resurgence like street fighter got when they came out 4. The are making a new streets of rage, but it looks too cartoony.
Final Save
Cool to hear my SFV Cody theme in your video.
Man what's crazy is that I enjoyed this game. Maybe it's because I played it with my brother and it was one of those games that we just played to beat lol.
ok, anyone know what that piano song used at 4:50 is? I've heard it other places, and I want to know.
Darksmiter gotchu fam it’s gymnopedie no. 1
Remember screwattack's top 10 worst 2D to 3D games? Remember how this was LOWER on the list than Mega Man Legends?
I still won't let that go!
Thank God we got Streets of Rage 4
Lets murder a game with good potential because mahgta
Don't cry Hitomi Tanaka is here to prove Anime is REAL
And Saaya Irie (literally)
Interesting Profile Pic there.
Sauce of prof pic?
The saddest part is that Final Fight Streetwise could have been great if it had stuck to its original vision.
I’m afraid I know exactly where that picture at 1:28 is sourced from, and it isn’t EXACTLY Phoenix Wright. I guess it’s close enough.
Ironically I happen to like Beat Down. Sure it has issues most notably the abundant loadscreen but it is hella fun to play
Ooookay. Great video, first of all. Secondly, what is that HECKIN PIANO MUSIC. I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR AN HOUR
I wouldn't be watching this in 2023 if this game didn't leave a huge positive impact on me in 2006
I Am Alive
I love that game and I have no idea how it ended up being so playable after such a long time in development hell.
And yet despite all its flaws, Woolie was able to beat the game so easily.
How about Kingdoms of Amalur? That bloody thing was train wreck upon train wreck.
Rent a Hero for the original Xbox. I actually reserves the game back in the day. There was actually a few reviews too! But they canceled it a week or two before it was suppose to hit the shelves.
"I've talked about it though....... because I have a copy"
AVGN: *Laughs in shit jokes*
Awesome channel! Is your title a "A Mighty Wind" reference?
And he never answered you back..
FF SW was a blast.
i knew i wasnt fuckin crazy, was watching a longplay of Jason G's story from The Beatdown like last year...and was just like
"this formula feels super familiar. Final fight??"
Matt, you should do Other M/Federation Force in the future. Great vid man.
I swear the first time I saw Matt’s intro I jumped at the suddenness
