Can this be used in a coparenting situation where you are constantly striving to improve the way you show up, but still feel like your efforts are minimally recognized and/or appreciated?

Absolutely. The only difference is that in the coparenting relationship your ex may be bringing some of your history to the table, and there may be a greater degree of defensiveness coupled with less willingness to work with you to change the situation.
That just means that you may have to be really gentle and persistent with this technique. It might take your ex longer than a new relationship to trust your sincerity when you say "can you help me", so you might have to try it several times, staying calm and curious even if she gets upset or doesn't respond well.
With time, patience and genuine interest, this will help your coparenting relationship too.

Hopefully just a joke... but respect is essential to a healthy relationship, and unfortunately I think that this is how little some men actually think of their wives. If you don't respect her, she knows it, and the relationship can't last.
Of course, this goes the other way too, with many relationships struggling because women don't respect their husbands either.

It seems like she’s playing a game… and then … no she isn’t, she’s moved on. Something inside is dying, but it’s not dead yet. Let it die.
