I saw KISS in 1978. My first concert and I’ve never forgotten how my little
8 year old eyeballs were blurry from how loud Gene’s bass was. I’ve never forgotten that. I had a COOL much older brother who took me. I now play music for a living as a touring musician.
And it was because of these guys. Peace!

What people don't get about Kiss, is that they made it so effing fun. Made us all wanna be rock stars. Yeah yeah yeah, heard all the complaints about them. But they were cool as F. And it stands the test of time. Let's go write a Kiss song!

A lot of these old 70s concerts only exist because some of the venues like the Summit here or the Capitol Theatre in Passaic, Capital Centre in Landover/Largo, Winterland in San Francisco etc filmed them in house for their screens, skyboxes etc. They weren't filmed for or by Kiss and there was no director saying "cut to the lead guitarist" or "zoom in on the drummer". The guys filming this would have been there the next night filming a ball game or the next band that was playing. Rather than run up another Paul & Gene shitting on Ace & Peter pile of crap, just be grateful this stuff exists at all.

I started going into his place when I was around 14 or 15. The cops hated him and his place. It was on the Ave where everyone hung out. Hard to believe this was 1976!! I was a kid then, and instantly became a KISS fan after KISS Alive was released ('75). For the rock fans of that day, their music was straight up rock and roll, and it moved you. But KISS took it to a whole other level with their stage show. For those who wanted the best, you got the best! Back then, no one brought more show that KISS. They certainly were the hottest band in the world!
