    Wow, this tutorial is beyond awesome! I was trying to make some Christmas ornaments this year and was having serious problems with EVERY SINGLE image transfer tutorial I found (both inkjet and toner/laser) even after following the instructions to a tee. I mean, I tried different printers, different paper, different brands of clay...none of them worked.
    So thank you, thank you, thank you for this tutorial!!! The results were fantastic, and it really did save my ornaments! 💜💜💜

    I saw the most gorgeous polymer clay transfer cabochons online and this must be exactly how they did it! I have never seen this before but have to say I totally love it! Thank you for explaining so clearly and showing every step, really helpful. And note: The ones online were given a thick coat of resin on top of the finished piece and it made some exceptional jewelry-worthy pieces. As if I didn't have enough to do ;)

    Can anyone say if it's possible to skip the first layer fimo on the paper & baking and simply skip to attaching the paper to the clay with fimo & cover the top too, and then put it in the oven?

    • @RokoleeDIY
      @RokoleeDIY  4 года назад

      The idea is to make sure the paper is encased completely in the liquid FIMO so as long as you do that, it should work :)

    Very nice video .. thanks a lot for all your videos talking about how to transfer an image onto polymer clay .. about this video can I use normal paper or it will be burn in oven ??

    • @RokoleeDIY
      @RokoleeDIY  7 лет назад +1

      No problem :) You'll only be using a low oven temperature so you shouldn't have a problem.
      By the way, I used photo paper rather than normal printer paper, so it was thicker and resistant to soaking in any moisture. I've not tried with normal printer paper but it might not some out quite as well. You can always try though! Thanks for your comment

    • @RokoleeDIY
      @RokoleeDIY  7 лет назад +1

      I haven't tested that myself, but if you're referring to the paper then it should be fine as long as you keep it well away from the heating element in the oven. The clay would be fine baked for that long. The only issue might be it darkening in colour so you could put an aluminium foil lid on to shield from direct heat, but I guess the only way to know for sure is to test it! Thanks for your comment.

  • @rosaerivas395
    @rosaerivas395 5 лет назад

    Loved your video! But to me this is more like glueing a print to clay. Usually when you transfer an image you remove the paper or other medium where the image was printed, leaving just the ink. You can also print the image on transfer sheets and glue it to your clay, these sheets are much cheaper than photo paper.

    • @RokoleeDIY
      @RokoleeDIY  5 лет назад +2

      Thank you :) You're right...it's more embedding the image rather than transferring. I have a few image transfer videos on my channel, and people sometimes struggle with getting those to work. I see this as a foolproof alternative option! Thanks for watching

    Will the ink smuge when moistened by the liquid clay? Is there a certain ink to prevent this?

    • @RokoleeDIY
      @RokoleeDIY  7 лет назад +5

      Linda Pruitt hi 🙂 I didn't have a problem with smudging using normal inkjet printing and matte photo paper, but if you are worried about this then just make sure to leave the printed image to dry for a while after printing, and make sure you use enough liquid clay to allow you to glide over the image with your finger rather than dragging your finger across bare paper. You really shouldn't have a problem though because the liquid clay does not act like water. Thanks for your question

    Do you think you could leave that outside? Is it fully waterproof? And do you think the surface could get damaged if pressure is applied to it? Say if you made a brooch or something to wear...

    • @RokoleeDIY
      @RokoleeDIY  4 года назад

      Hi! I think if you covered the entire image then it would be waterproof, but I'm not sure if it would stand up to sun/wind damage and other elements outdoors. A brooch should be a good use for this technique though, as long as the clay backing was thick and sturdy enough :) Thanks for watching!

    What would happen if I use this on regular paper ?? Still with inkjet?

    • @RokoleeDIY
      @RokoleeDIY  5 лет назад +1

      I haven't tried it myself so I can't be certain, but I suspect that the plasticisers from the clay will leach out into the paper and blur the ink, and I believe the picture quality wouldn't be good as a result. Or at least it would degrade pretty quickly. If anyone has tried it, please let me know if I'm right!

  • @sharilee4412
    @sharilee4412 Год назад

    So putting liquid clay on an injet printed graphic doesn’t make the ink run?? Does this work with all ink jet printers? I would imagine all inkjet printers use the same technology. I just thought the ink would always run??

    • @RokoleeDIY
      @RokoleeDIY  Год назад +1

      I think as long as the ink is definitely dry it should be fine. The liquid clay isn't water - it's more of a plastic gel - so it isn't absorbed into the paper the same as water is. That's why it doesn't mess up the ink and make the paper go all wrinkly :)

    Do you cover the paper during first baking with the liquid clay please?

    • @RokoleeDIY
      @RokoleeDIY  3 года назад

      The first time it goes in the oven is where you've added the liquid clay all over the front of the paper and then that goes in the oven (before any clay is involved). Then you add liquid clay to the back of the paper, stick it to the polymer clay, add more liquid clay on top, and then bake once more :)

    I tried this but my transparency printed images do not transfer at all. Nothing! It does on airdryclay which is not cured yet. \but..there it takes pieces of clay with print when removed. Can you please tell me what im doing wrong? Thanks

    • @RokoleeDIY
      @RokoleeDIY  2 года назад

      Hmm I'm not sure! I'm surprised it transfer to the air dry clay but not polymer clay. I don't know if it would be down to the brand of clay, or maybe the polymer clay is perhaps old & dried out too much? Sorry I don't know what else to suggest.

      I haven't tried this with resin myself, but there will be a way to make it work. You'd have to use a glossy paper I assume, but not sure if you'd have to seal the paper too somehow before embedding in resin? I'm sure there will be a RUclips video that will show you how!

    The paper do not burn into the oven? May we know what type of paper you use ? Thank you so much for this tutorial !!!

    • @suzicq
      @suzicq 4 года назад +1

      As long as it doesn’t come in direct contact with the heating element, paper won’t burn unless you exceed 450°. Of course clay would burn at that temperature too.

    • @RokoleeDIY
      @RokoleeDIY  4 года назад

      The paper is photo paper and won't burn because of the low temperature that clay bakes at. Just don't let the paper touch the heating element in the oven :)

    What a mess! The cling wrap with the liquid polyclay on top crackled. No instructions after applying the cling wrap and applying liquid clay. You just pulled it out of the oven and it was perfect? Did you trim the cling wrap?? Did you take the cling wrap off??

    • @RokoleeDIY
      @RokoleeDIY  3 года назад

      The cling film is only used briefly to smooth the edges of the clay without transferring fingerprints, and is an optional step. It is then removed and not used again. Sorry this wasn't clear enough!

  • @mayb1394
    @mayb1394 4 года назад

    I tried this but not sure why my paper comes out with different patches like it doesn't have the same smooth finish like yours. I used the same fimo clay and liquid clay. Can it be because my paper is not photo paper but a thicker digital print?

    • @RokoleeDIY
      @RokoleeDIY  4 года назад

      Yes, it sounds likely your paper is absorbing moisture. Photo paper will resist the moisture better

    • @RokoleeDIY
      @RokoleeDIY  6 лет назад +2

      Hi! I didn’t really notice a change to be honest, but the fact that I put a quite shiny liquid on top may have enhanced the colour. If there is a difference, it’s not enough for me to notice! Thanks for your comment 🙂

    • @xscaped
      @xscaped 6 лет назад

      TechSupport100 Maybe it really is a bit darker, because the oil of the clay will sink into the paper a bit. But it looks awesome anyway.

    • @TechSupport100
      @TechSupport100 6 лет назад +1

      I agree w/awesome. My thought was that it might be a good idea to seal the paper (as you would do if you were using resin) before applying the liquid clay so this doesn't happen at all.

  • @lorihall5388
    @lorihall5388 2 года назад

    Why couldn’t you do this in one bake and coat the picture once

    • @RokoleeDIY
      @RokoleeDIY  2 года назад

      I guess you could do that - doing 2 coats might have been overkill - but I just wanted to make sure the paper was as protected as possible. The idea of the first coat was just to protect the printed image and also try and prevent the paper from creasing/wrinkling during the process :)
