This was a breath of fresh air. I don't understand why one would buy Gucci when you could support a smaller local business for a fraction of the cost. Bonus points if the business donates a portion of profits to a charity. Nice things don't always have to come with a label.

She was really generous. Those colors were awful - so sheer and streaky. I haven't bought a polish in the last few years from Walmart that was even close to being that bad.

I'm extremely late to the Cristine party but honestly seeing this video was what finally got me to buy from Holo Taco. Partially out of appreciation for how honest she seems, and I think she is actually a decent role model compared to many other RUclipsrs who young kids (unfortunately) look up to. Awesome video!
I really like the color selection they have honestly. They feel very well thought out and very retro to me. I think the packaging is quite pretty as well. However, never in my entire life would I spend money on luxury items just for the name. Especially considering how poorly the polishes performed

I work in a preschool that's catered towards rich families and let me tell you, parents actually buy clothes from the Armani, Versace and Gucci etc. Kids collections for them to wear to school. Where we do messy arts and crafts, and play outdoors. It's wild honestly.

what I absolutely adore about this woman is the fact that while her videos are always fun and entertainment, she always expresses her stance or opinion in a very professional, respectful and very educative manner. "Why do brands use French just to sound fancy" Is such a good question. Especially since my personal opinion (and my friends have said the same things) is that French doesn't sound very elegant or pretty. When I think of France I think high-end or when something is French I suppose it's usually 'fancy', but the language itself is far from something 'pretty'... but that's just my opinion.

Excellent point! I like the way, the sensible way Christine approached this and educated about it. At 63, I have used expensive polishes and noticed the same thing. BECAUSE of Christine I’m not getting acrylic nails anymore either. My nails are slowly growing out, I own a farm so I don’t need the length, but feel better about myself.

Plus, as a sociology student, it warms my cold little dead heart.
Honestly, I’m more willing to pay money for fair trade. Like for example, I prefer buying the Tony Chocolonely bar, even if it’s 5 bucks per bar, cause they support fair trade, and are huge advocates for stopping the chocolate slave trade, which I appreciate. Plus, they taste super good. ☺️ and the bars are as thick as two fingers, super good. It’s not paying for a name, it’s paying for quality, and what the company stands for.

I was most suprised Gucci is a so called luxury brand but you can but things right from their website? Maybe its bc I'm not spending 40 on nail polish, but ill spend 500 on a bag and you have to call someone to order chanel bags. Still want to live on a commune with my friends and be away from society tho lmfaooo

But the value of Gucci for every item goes down very quick while other luxury brand items gain value over time.
And my personal opinion, most items are super ugly. Like the colors, the logo, especially the collabs all seem super basic and ugly but that's just me 😂
