I can't believe that I found you! I am looking to make a Red Hood cosplay for my son -- never thought I would find something so freaking specific!!! I never even heard of Red Hood til like a week ago. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!
man I watch evil ted, adam savage, and punished props nearly religiously, and ive never seen that wrinkle technique for EVA foam props until now. awesome stuff!
Ive used it for years but yeah i rarely see anyone else do it. I do believe adam savage did this on his foam lotr gauntlet build. Ive found a new way to make your costume part almost 100% seamless. Take giant sheet of the thinnest foam you can get. Cover it on one side and all the outside of armor with contact cement. Wait tell dry then apply foam sheet to middle of armor and slowly stretch the foam to all parts of armor. Then trim extra off edges and done. WARNING if you fuck up you have to start whole armor peace completely over!!! Its hard to do but if you can your armor comes out amazing looking and extremely sturdy.
I have been looking for so long but I didn’t know that YOU made one! Your creations are always so detailed and unique! I was so happy when I found out you made one!
Been following you for a while, used to be Facebook friends too. Always my go to for tutorials, just sad that some of the older tutorials are gone now. Still the best channel to go to, wouldn't be here without your videos so thank you! And this is the tutorial I've been looking for since forever, how to do creases!
No worries! Thanks for continuing doing all these tutorials! They're great! I remembered the Iron Man stress test video where you break dance and etc hahaha, good times.
Wow, making the wrinkles is sooooo much easier than I thought it would be. And it never occurred to me to use another sander besides my dremel, so i'm going to try this technique next time. Thanks, great vid!
This is definitely an older video (so you'll probably never see this comment), but thanks so much for this vid! I have like 9 days to put together a Red Hood cosplay and this video is gonna help so much! :)
Great tutorial as always! Something new to be learned every time. I am thinking about getting a spray paint machine like you have there. The rattle can method definitely feels outdated. Looks like you got a great finish on the helmet with no drip.
TechSavvy Hero DSD “everything” hahaha but seriously, stealth would know. My airbrush was 85 bucks though. You can get little tanks for small work for 150 bucks I believe. Larger tanks are like 300 ish
Are you guys slipping? No cleaning the shop this time? Hmmm... Definitely nice to see the techniques behind the mask. Useful. Definitely interested in the rest of the cosplay :)
Do you need all that stuff cause the heat gun, wood burning thing and polystyrene ball seems optional and if so do you know any alternatives to them also what did you use to glue the foam together
No, sorry. I don't build that way anymore. So I don't want old methods on my channel. Takes too much time. I get a better result with foam with less mess, cost and hassle. If you want an alternative to the fiberglass polyester resin. Search for "Epoxamite" from the company "smooth-on"
You ever look into Amorsmith? It's a great program. I'm using it for my current Halo build and everything is fitting like a glove. LIKE A GLOVE! - ace ventura
I've used it since the beginning. I don't really use it to scale parts often. The helmet fit like a glove with my own technique and I just used Pepakura designer. You still need to measure your own head for the perimeter to even matter in either program. So it's really just learning how to measure your body. Thanks for watching.
Would this be possible and worth making with 2mm foam or would that just be flimsy and pointless? I was thinking that maybe the ridged cheeks and everything would keep it in shape but not sure if it's worth trying or just buy the 6mm foam like the vid?
Hey Stefano, have you considered using a ketchup squeezy bottle to apply the contact cement? You might have to smooth the bead of glue with scrap foam or the brush you were using. But if you're using the brush, you might as well use just the brush to apply the glue. 🤔 I have contradicted myself. Haha.
I've used the ketchup bottle, scrap foam method if you check my past videos. I find the brush to be a bit better for covering up to the the edge. If the result speaks for itself, it doesn't really matter what you use. Thanks for watching

Though acrylic does still show little crack marks, use modge podge or plasti dip before painting with it, then put maybe matte mod podge over to seal it entirely. It works for anything I build with EVA and you can get a can of plasti dip in white or black for just 6-8 bucks...
It's an airbrush technique. So you could use black oil pastels and brush the powder on but you'll have to clear coat it or maybe just do an acrylic or oil paint wash like I've done in other videos to make details pop out more. You'll need an airbrush to make it look exactly like this usually. Sorry
@@Heroesworkshop while i do agree an airbrush is 100% worth the investment b/c shading and weathering is so much easier with one, you can get a decent shadowing with am acrylic wash. You don't have to use black, a dark brow or grey can work as well, in addition to doing two washes of brown then grey and wiping away excess with a clean papertowel on each pass.
