I’m pregnant with my first and I’ve always wanted to be that parent that makes the baby food instead of buying the already made baby food, mainly so I know what exactly is going into the food, anyway this is a great informational video. Thank you!
My mum used to cook non-seasoned family meals and make me baby food from a portion. Once I started eating more solid food I had things like fish pie and partially puréed roast dinner
I was freaking out about weaning and felt the pressure of making my own baby food, I am so glad that I came across this video in my searches to learn how to make my own food as this video shows the whole process from making it, storing it, thawing it and serving. I feel so much more confident about weaning, so thank you for creating a great and informative video x
I'm a vegetarian who eats beans every day. I tried so many different ways to cook dried beans because I don't like the high sodium content in canned beans. You can save a lot of hassle when cooking dried beans by EITHER putting them in the crock pot with water on low (about 4 hours for smaller beans, 8 for bigger beans) OR putting them in a lidded casserole dish or dutch oven (with water) for about 1.5-2 hours at 350 degrees (less for smaller beans like lentils...about 45 min). For either method you just need to rinse the beans first and then toss into your cooking method.
People have gotten food poisoning from using a slow cooker to cook beans. If you use this method to soften dried beans, they still need to be brought to a rolling boil for at least 10 minutes at some point in the cooking process in order to break down a toxin known as hemagglutinin. Red kidney beans have the highest content of hemagglutinin. Signs of having eaten under-cooked beans are nausea, diarrhea, and vomiting.
Katie McCullum here in Italy, where I am . from, it is very very common to use dry beans and the way we cut down in cooking time is by soaking them for 12-14 Hours with a teaspoon of baking soda per kg, and then u cook them normally and it takes max 3 hours :) (for lentils u just need to soak them for 20 minutes)
SO helpful and you made it so simple and not overwhelming! I swear, I’ve watched so many baby food prep videos that were somewhat helpful, but overall too lengthy/wordy or something.. but the way you did this video was simple, informative, easy to follow and SO helpful! Thank you so much!
@@DerSaaI know there are higher risks as you get older, but I had mine recently at the age of 34, perfect for me as I was in a position where I am personally and financially stable, and mentally prepared and mature to have a child. Can I tell you this video has helped me and made my whole day. I love your jokes, the music, the edits, I love how practical this is. Im going to watch more of your videos. I love how you said, this is how I do baby food. I hate that people have to apologize so much for what should be obvious. But you kept it moving. I love this video and you made me have a lot of confidence with making our babies foods. Keep being awesome!
Yes...I'm Canadian and never heard it pronounced this way. It was really hard to take her seriously with this pronunciation despite it being good info! I'm guessing she's only ever read the word, and not heard it spoken?
I had a Home Daycare where I only watched one child from around 6 weeks old up to 3 years or whenever parents wanted their child to be around other kids. The last baby I cared for, his Mom made his baby food and I decided to try making his food and I loved it, It's actually fun to do too! :) Another baby I cared for, whenever you gave him a spoonful of food, he would go "Mmmmm" it was so cute. :) :)
this is such a very helpful video. My baby just turned 8 months and wanted to have more ideas on what to feed him. Thank you so much for sharing your tips and tricks on how you do yours definitely going to try out your recipes. Super enjoyed watching this. May God bless you and your family.
Wow. I’m speechless. You don’t know how long I’ve just been looking for a video like this to just lay out the info easily and clearly! Literally the best video ever!! Thank you soo much for taking the time to make this!!
Might be weird but I would seriously watch a video where Theo taste tests different purées and foods. 😂❤️🥰 I love his reactions! also the part where you incorporate different foods was really interesting to me, and seeing how you made them the right consistency!
Thank you soo much for this video!! I pregnant with my first and have been watching your channel since before Theo but I’m so excited to see everything even more now especially being a first time mama ❤️ All tips, tricks and advice I can’t wait to watch!
I love that the majority of the comments are people saying they don't have children and don't want children 😂😂 I'm expecting in 3 months and this video (as well as others you've done) is so helpful!
Hey! In fact, spinach is not recommended for ages under one because of the high nitrate content. Nitrate interferes with oxygen transport in the baby's body. And same is with cow's milk. It contains too much protein for the baby's kidneys and too little nutrients for the baby. At the age of ten months, the baby can begin to get used to dairy products with the help of sour milk products.
Kimberly Mijares It’s always good to consult your pediatrician with certain things though. Some babies shouldn’t eat it Incase, but if your pediatrician says it’s okay then you can incorporate it! My daughter can not eat spinach due to her kidneys are unable to properly process it yet. She had kidney issues since birth though
Just watched this video to learn about ways I can prep meals more my baby now that we’re introducing solids in her diet. It was very informative and helpful! Thank you ❤️
Love this video! Thanks for posting. Two kitchen items that are WORTH IT and could up your game are 1) an immersion blender and 2) SouperCubes silicone trays. I have been blending in our Ninja but whenever I blend hot foods in the container (which it recommends not doing), they are extra hot, and almost explode because of the compressed heat! An immersion blender has been AMAZING!! And SouperCubes are silicone trays that come in multiple sizes that are perfect for baby or adult meals. They have been super high quality and have been amazing as I do post-partum food prep! Just wanted to pass along two things I found :)
I have a 4yr old and 7month old and both have been breastfeed and i made baby food at home just like this. You can store purées in milk bags 1 serving per bag and defrost the food with the bag in warm water in minutes or if you use the cubes in silicone you can quickly reheat in a pot but stay with it to not over heat it.
i’m about to start feeding my daughter food! she’s gonna be 6 months this month! this video really helped me, i had no idea what to start making her! haha thanks 💗💗
So excited to try this ! Baby boy is due in less than 3 weeks and this is something I am definitely going to try this time around. Favorite RUclips momma 💕💕💕
Thank you so much 😢I saw your video a while ago before I even knew I was pregnant and now baby is at eating stage and I was so stressed. I have an 8 year old and Ive basically had to start all over again... thank god I remembered your video and it’s everything I needed. THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH!!
Great vid, loved the simplicity of it. It's so not overwhelming when you explain / show the preping. Could you maybe do a video on transitioning to the BLW method and how it is done? :) Thanks and greetings from the Czech republic!
He’s absolutely adorable! Thank you so much for this video! I’ve been thinking of doing this now for a couple of days! Baby food is over priced and in little quantities! It’s mad! So much healthier to cook home made meals for them! And just BLEND! ❤️✨
Love this video! I don’t have a baby yet, but my wife & I are planning on starting IUI (similar to IVF) in October. I plan on cloth diapering & making my babies food as well. I’m a big fan of DIY things when possible! My dog has severe skin allergies, we’ve tried all of the diets (including prescription food) & meds & nothing works. I discovered a few years ago when I make her food homemade she has MUCH LESS skin issues & she loves it! Ever since I’ve made her food. People think it’s so cool & ask a lot abt it... I always tell them it’s WAY cheaper, healthier, & not difficult at all. I make a month - 1.5 months and freeze it.
Just a little heads up. In Denmark it is rcommended to avoid spinach until the baby is 6 months old and in moderations until the baby is 1 year. But thank you for a wonderfull video - and many great ideas!
AH-mazing!! Thank you so much. I am pregnant with my first and just trying to learn as much as I can. This video is saved! We are buying a new freezer so we can prep for us for postpardom but will definitely be doing more meal prep in general. I will definitely come back to this one.
Just a tip freeze leftover water from soaking dried fruit and you can add it to cooled boiled water if bubs is struggling with constipation when transitioning to solids
So cute! My mom did this for me and I love the concept of knowing exactly what your baby is eating. In no way am I close to being a mom, but I want to do this someday. God bless you and your baby(babies?) 👶🏼😇💖
I feel like Pinterest was overwhelming me so THANK YOU for making this video! Visually seeing everything being done makes it less stressful for me. Excited to try this with my 6 month old!
THANK YOU! This looks pretty easy, and this food will end up being way cheaper and healthier than buying the premade stuff at the stores, but obviously if anyone buys that stuff, I'm SOOOO not bashing you for doing so! I can't wait to try this!
I just started taking care of someone elses 6 month old and this video was just what I needed. I know what I need to get and how much time his meal prep will take! Thank you soooo much! So much faster than reading a book ha!
Thank you so much for this video. This is very helpful. Before seeing your video I was wondering where to start and how to go about preparing healthy baby food. After watching your video I feel excited and am a woman on a mission with direction! Thank you for posting a thorough video. God bless you and your beautiful baby!
I just had my first (and last) baby. He’s 5 months and I was advised to start him off with rice cereal by 4 1/2 months and now I’m going to begin with Purée because he wants everything we eat, it’s the cutest and saddest thing to see lol. Anyway, I’m rambling. I’m subscribed, I like the way you do things. Very informative. Thank you!
The snack me and my younger sister used to get was a little ramekin of frozen peas or sweet corn. If you use petit pois peas or sweet corn it's sweet, and we still automatically go to them as a healthy veggie snack now in our teens.
Just a tip for other FTM out there that I learned from the health nurse at my daughter’s immunization appointment- she said they recommend to introduce foods one at a time. So try one thing and then wait three days before introducing something new.
I heard about that, but my kid never had an issue and he just ate any kind of fruit veggies whenever. I understand why being careful is good if the family usually gets allergies, but I think it’s good to offer a huge variety and add spices etc... Curry, herbs, spices...makes food delicious
Amin Dima Once you’ve offered something with no reaction you can mix and offer variety but introducing things one their own means that you know what food caused a reaction if there is one.
Tania L why veggies before fruits? My son is a toddler now and we did baby led weaning, but one of his first foods was bananas. But I'm pregnant again so interested in why!
Shelby O'Donahue Other moms and my daughters pediatrician have told me that if you do fruits first before veggies they develop a “sweet tooth” and only want fruits and no veggies after.
Your videos are the highlight of my morning! And you have been so amazingly consistent with them. Keep up the great work. What you're doing is appreciated! :)
Not going to lie. This video is a life saver. I also have a guilty secret to admit. I use these cubes at the end of the month in smoothies if I have any left over, before I make a new batch for bub. They are so good 😆😆
Such a good video Delilah! I froze ours in small glass jars and heated them in a waterbath on the stove..but mostly made them fresh every two days. Around here (ch) you always add a few drops of oil to the purees, to carry the vitamins.
@@alyssaisawkward6838 they sell special organic oil blends to add to baby food, but all healthy oils are ok. Cold pressed olive, avocado, pumpkin seed..I like to use hemp.
I dont know were youre from, but in my country it says on the package and on the news that you are to cook the frozen berries beforehand, in case of some bad bacteria. Love your video btw!
Love this video. Just to clarify, we can use frozen veg/fruit to make the baby food and then freeze it again? I've been avoiding doing this because i didn't think I could freeze twice but it would make life so much easier.
I’m 8 weeks and this is my first and I’m so grateful this video is out there so helpful I really didn’t want to give my baby those jars of nasty lol I like knowing what nutrients my baby is getting and it’s really easy thank you ❤️
I have looked up every video on RUclips, this one is the one video , super simple for parents to make the baby food and how you can give it to your baby its all in this video # thanks for the video 👍
The greatest addition to my kitchen has been the Instant Pot. It cooks beans super quickly and you don't need to soak them. But I still do because it makes them easier on the stomach. But when strapped for time, will just cook them from dry. Thanks for the tips in the video.
I just loved this video u did. My baby is almost 7 month an I really wanted to feed her fresh fruits an veggies. An u just showed so much from here. U gave me some ideas I hope my daughter will love it 🤗 I’m excited
I know there's no right or wrong, maybe. But I can't find the answer on any videos I've watched! Hope you can help. If I want to add breastmilk to his food. (From my frozen milk stash) 1. Do I mix it in, when blending the veggies to store back in freezer? (Or no, because that would technically be thawing breastmilk, and freezing it again) 2. Do I have to pump fresh milk if I want to add to fresh baby meal prep. 3. Blend veggies without milk, at a thicker consistency, and add the milk when serving to eat? By the way, thanks for the tip to label food in ziploc bags! I know I did this for breastmilk, but never thought about doing it for purees! Thanks!
this is just fab! im 6 months pregnant with my first baby but i knew even before i found out i was having him that i wanted to make his food myself i want to see what goes into his food. I love the fact you mix different things together, also i need to find them silicone trays they look perfect x
I can’t wait to make baby food again haha I have one of those baby brezza food processors, but for anyone reading this.. don’t waste your money on it!! Just use a pot and a blender like in this video. So much faster.
Honestly, this video has been so helpful! I haven't always had the best eating habits myself, so I really wasn't sure where to begin with making fresh baby food. Just made her carrots today, super easy. I'll definitely be making her food myself from now on. Thank you!
I seriously enjoyed this video😁you've made me so excited for when my baby starts eating solids next week. I've never felt this happy about starting solids and I have 4 kids lol
My mum homemade several meals, and often cooked a low salt family meal (like a roast dinner) and turned a small amount into baby food before seasoning and eating the rest with my dad. It may be a coincidence, but I ate mainly homemade food while my younger sister are storebought and I'm a far more adventurous eater. My dad also turned orange as a baby because he loved carrots so much and ate loads.
OMG, thank you sooo much. I’m a first time grandmother (with amazing free time for the first time in my life). As a secondary Care Giver this helps so much. I will be adding my homemade ckn stock in place of water to get baby on board. 🙏🏼🇺🇸
I started with fruits and rice cereal. She loves both. I’m going to probably start her on veggies next month. She started eating at 4 months because she just didn’t care for milk.
my baby cousin got really sick and was rushed to the hospital because he had a problem with his breathing and that was down to the fact that we where storing his food in plastic containers and we where recommend by the doctors to only use glass as it can be sterilized unlike plastic
That mold is silicone, you pop it out and repackage after its frozen. Don't heat the food in plastic. Mason jars if you don't have glass for frozen foods works well. If you prefreeze food and then add it to glass the jars don't crack as the food expands when freezing.
@@eminemilly Heating food in any kind of plastic is bad. Even BPA free plastic. However plastic bottles can easily be sterilized. Just use the same bottle baths they use for baby milk bottles. If you read Catchmeifyoucan's comment the problem was with sterilizing. There are several kinds of soaks in which you can properly soak plastic containers. Old plastic should not be used for children. Just remember that when you heat food, take it out of the plastic, put it in: pottery, or ceramics, or porcelain, or stainless steel to heat.
@Loeppkyslife This was a super great and informative video! It looks like Theo will grow up strong and healthy with that diet! As a food scientist I just want to add that frozen fruit really should be cooked before eating, especially when it’s for babies, but also for children, pregnant women and the elderly. In Europe every bag of frozen fruit already has this warning, and the FDA is currently looking into changing the recommendation. Cooking the berries will kill the potential norovirus and hepatitis A that can be found in frozen berries. This is not to scare or guilt you, merely a wish for you and your children to be extra safe!
Thank you so much for this video. I’m starting my daughter on solids today at 5.5 months & this has really given me inspiration 💕 loved seeing your baby enjoy it!
You mention some people starting their babies on rice cereal. Just a heads up for anyone doing that - rice cereal has notably high levels of arsenic. Rice naturally absorbs arsenic as it grows. This is why it's important to rinse rice until the water runs clear before cooking it. However, rinsing is not really an option with rice cereal. This isn't to say you shouldn't give your baby rice cereal, but you want to make sure you're giving them lots of other stuff, too.
Honestly so far from having a baby but I'm so excited and I hope my mom is still with me cause she made all our food and raised us all so well I'm so scared I'll never be able to live up to what a great mom she is
Hey Delilah! I read your recent instagram post about theo‘s clothes becoming too small too quickly because of the cloth diapers he‘s wearing. I had exactly the same problem with my son and it almost made me give up cloth diapers! I would definitely recommend you to invest in a few baby bodysuit extenders! They made c d so much easier because the clothes fit so much longer!

In most western countries rice is highly processed compared to the rice in Asia. Unfortunately while it's cleaner it is also less nutritious.

Never blend hot food especially in a nutribullet the parts can over heat and literally explode
Good to know, I literally do this often... yikes!!
I will wait for it too cool now LOL
Correct! Learned the hard way as a teenager. 2nd degree burns from sweet potato purée lol
Same I had no idea😬
What about a baby bullet lol that's what i use
Same with a baby bullet
This is so useful for me since I'm a first time mom
Can I tell you this video has helped me and made my whole day. I love your jokes, the music, the edits, I love how practical this is. Im going to watch more of your videos. I love how you said, this is how I do baby food. I hate that people have to apologize so much for what should be obvious. But you kept it moving. I love this video and you made me have a lot of confidence with making our babies foods. Keep being awesome!
Amazing advice, thank you! Also adding a teaspoon of milled flaxseed or hemp seeds will provide a lot a extra nutrition for you baby ❤️
The easiest, straightforward video about making baby food! Fun fact, you can make yogurt in the 6qt instant pot 😊
pur-ee. that's a new way of pronouncing it. very literal. i like it.
It's a very Canadian way of pronouncing it LOL
@@notbeingsarcastic5947 thanks for the clarification! I didn't know.
I watched this while pregnant and watching it now, my son is 5 months and i started weaning him last week - super helpful and informative video❤️
I’ve spent all day watching baby food videos and this is by far the best! Thank you!!❤️
I love that the majority of the comments are people saying they don't have children and don't want children 😂😂 I'm expecting in 3 months and this video (as well as others you've done) is so helpful!
Baby doc says to feed spinach it has very good vitamins. Cows milk at 12 months
I agree with cow's milk. but thanks for letting us know about spinach!
Babies can eat everything under the age of 12 months except honey and they shouldn’t also have cow’s milk.
There's jarred baby food for 6mo+ with spinach though..
Pediatrician also said it was fine .
I am 30 weeks pregnant and I'm so excited to be able to do this! Thanks for all the wonderful videos. ❤️
Great video Delilah! My baby is 4 months old on the 1st of December and I'm so excited to start trying solids.
I love how you edited this video also ❤
i’m about to start feeding my daughter food! she’s gonna be 6 months this month! this video really helped me, i had no idea what to start making her! haha thanks 💗💗
If you don't have a blender you can use a potato masher, you just have to have some elbow grease lol
Vintage Vlogs truly at that point though just spend the 30$ to get a cheap on on amazon
L H I’m tracking. But if your going to be consistently making baby food a 30$ investment is worth the time and energy.
My 5th baby and with the pandemic happening and everything I was able to make my baby her baby food it truly is a blessing thank you for this
He’s absolutely adorable!
My son just turned 6 months yesterday so I needed this video. Thank you! Even though he's my second, I feel like I'm completely new to this again 😂
Great video. To the point and you show the process from start to finish unlike all the others I’ve seen.
Hey I just wanted to tell you how much I appreciate you making this video. It literally saved my life. Thank you so much and God bless you.
Thank you, new mom here! I needed every piece of this video. Makes it so much easier to start with someones process and then make it your own!
First time grandmother here. I forgot so much over the years. Your video is excellent. Thank you!
I just started taking care of someone elses 6 month old and this video was just what I needed. I know what I need to get and how much time his meal prep will take! Thank you soooo much! So much faster than reading a book ha!
This was so detailed and helpful and well put together! Thank you :) will definitely recommend to my mommy friends.
Thank you!
please make more toddler meals and snack ideas! My toddler won’t eat anything
Yes, plz my son is the same.
Yes hopes some new moms see this! And to give veggies first before introducing fruits
They are so good 😆😆
Delilah you are such a great momma! You are so cool. Keep going as a great woman, wife and momma in Christ ☺️💛.
You answered all my questions about making baby food, how to store, thaw, everything! Thank you!
I'm definitely going to need to revisit this when I have Baby #2 .. 💕
This was so informative! Thanks especially for adding the 'how to serve' at the end!
This was so helpful! Thank you for sharing all of your tips!
Such a good video Delilah! I froze ours in small glass jars and heated them in a waterbath on the stove..but mostly made them fresh every two days. Around here (ch) you always add a few drops of oil to the purees, to carry the vitamins.
Oil? Never heard of that! What type of oil?
@@alyssaisawkward6838 they sell special organic oil blends to add to baby food, but all healthy oils are ok. Cold pressed olive, avocado, pumpkin seed..I like to use hemp.
I really like you! You're not at all preachy but concise and lovely to listen too!
I’m 8 weeks and this is my first and I’m so grateful this video is out there so helpful I really didn’t want to give my baby those jars of nasty lol I like knowing what nutrients my baby is getting and it’s really easy thank you ❤️
I’ve been saving this video for when my baby is ready to eat, and now he is! Love love this video, so helpful! 😊
You have no idea how many baby food videos I've watched and you my friend have answered so many of my doubts!! I can't wait to see more of your vids.
I have looked up every video on RUclips, this one is the one video , super simple for parents to make the baby food and how you can give it to your baby its all in this video
# thanks for the video 👍
Best video on baby food and how to prepare it, thanks so much excited to start getting onto this, hope Bebe is too hehe
This helped me so so much. My daughter is 6.5 months old and I am heading to the grocery store soon to start our puree journey!! Great video !!
I know there's no right or wrong, maybe. But I can't find the answer on any videos I've watched! Hope you can help.
If I want to add breastmilk to his food. (From my frozen milk stash)
1. Do I mix it in, when blending the veggies to store back in freezer? (Or no, because that would technically be thawing breastmilk, and freezing it again)
I love the fact you mix different things together, also i need to find them silicone trays they look perfect x
coming back here again and again - thank you for this, it helped me with baby number 1 and now with baby number 2 again
What about plastic bottles
@@eminemilly Heating food in any kind of plastic is bad. Even BPA free plastic. However plastic bottles can easily be sterilized. Just use the same bottle baths they use for baby milk bottles. If you read Catchmeifyoucan's comment the problem was with sterilizing. There are several kinds of soaks in which you can properly soak plastic containers. Old plastic should not be used for children. Just remember that when you heat food, take it out of the plastic, put it in: pottery, or ceramics, or porcelain, or stainless steel to heat.
@@chel-lalasveganmania oh ok good to know ut can still be properly sterilized for baby. I definitely don't get things in plastic. Thanks
I wasn’t planning to buy glass containers but since you said that! 😳
This was an extremely useful video, thank you. The pediatrician just brought up feeding our baby solids, and this seems so doable. Thanks again.
You have no idea how much this video has helped me with food for my little girl, thank you so much for the great content☺️
