Nicole the Math Lady is awesome. We needed to switch to a mastery math style, but it was Nicole the Math Lady we missed when we switched programs! love your math updates. You are ahead of me by a few years so I appreciate where you are now.
My son is using Shormann this year. He struggled the first two lessons, but now we have a system. 1. He prints the rules and definitions. 2. He does the flashcards 3. He watches lecture and takes notes. 4. Does the practice problems. 5. He prints the solutions for future reference. 6. After I determine his notes are well done I print the textbook for that lesson. Then he refers back to these if he needs to reference a previous lesson, rather than having to change the screen. So far so good, but I do wonder about additional practice when he gets to a concept that requires additional practice. Because I do feel like it goes pretty fast.
Where do you have him work out all of his problems so it is easy for you to grade and see his work? In a designated spiral? On the grid paper? Thanks so much for all you share!
I agree that having an actual Math textbook and Solution manual is important for Math, but also a visual component that teaches how to work thru the problems is too. I don't think my daughter would like Shoreman Math.
I love your videos! I have my son in Shormann Algebra I this year but I wasn’t (and still am not) settled in that decision. I needed to make a decision before the school year started so I did. What made me lean toward Shormann in the end was getting three credits in two years. My question for you is if you had to do it over would you have done Shormann at all? Is it really so important not to have a separate Geometry year? Before becoming a SAHM I was an electrical engineer so I’m not afraid of math. I love it actually but I’ve got 4 kiddos and needed some things off my plate. Lastly, this son who is my eldest is only in 6th grade so I’m not in a rush either. He’s just an extremely bright kid. Thanks!
In retrospect I probably would have stuck with Saxon all the way through. My oldest used Saxon through Algebra 2 and had no problems until we switched her to Shormann for precalc. I think my younger son would have done fine doing the same as she did.

Yes, this is also my question.
That was my 10th and 11th grade math textbook in private school. Lol. Good times.

Just on loose leaf notebook paper. We keep a “turn in” tray by their desks for completed work and then I pull from there to grade/review things
