I emailed the company directly to request a copy of the Solutions Manual. They emailed me a PDF copy of the Solutions Manual for each course. Like you, I use the Solutions Manual to help my kids with problems when they need it. We have really like using Shormann Math also. We used Saxon Math books through Algebra 2 but my kids were drowning in the intensity of content and number of practice math problems. Shormann math was a perfect transition for my kids. We maintained the quality content but had 20 practice problems each day instead of 30 from the Saxon Math.

Thanks for sharing! I will definitely be reaching out to Shormann about the solutions manual (especially for precalc!)

We have been doing Saxon math forever & it works well for us. I first heard of Dr. Shormann through one of your videos last year. We are using it for 8/7 & Algebra 1/ Geometry this year. So far, so good! 😊
This video has helped me, so thank you!

Both my boys did algebra 1 and 1/2 geometry last year and have moved on to Algebra 2 this year. I love that I’m hands off as they have already passed me by with my knowledge in Math 😁
Looking forward to hearing how Pre-Calculus is for your daughter.
As always thanks for your videos

Both of my students - 8th and 10th graders are in the second year of using Shormann. They are taking Algebra 2/ Geometry this year. Last year, I decided to watch the lectures with them and help model taking good notes. This worked very well. It also helps if they have a question because I am not completely in the dark. We had a very positive experience last year and hope for the same this year! Thanks for the very informative video review!

What a great idea to model good note taking! I may borrow that idea with my son. My oldest has always been a natural note taker but my youngest struggles a bit with understanding what he should be writing down.

Thank you for the in depth dive into Shorman! I've been trying to decide for next year whether to go with Shormann or Dennison math. Have a great Labor day weekend!

This is my dilemma too. I can’t decide between the 2 either

@@amandaslabaugh42 me too! Literally 6 months later and still haven't decided. I've watched so many videos, read reviews and still can't decide. 🙃

Yes it's difficult, you have to get in the student's shoes and see which one is best suited for them, I noticed that Shormann algebra 1 topics are being taught in Denison Algebra 2, so Shormann Math teaches beyond what is required for the said math class.

We are doing Shormann Precalculus now (last year we did Shormann Algebra 2 and before we did Saxon). Honestly, I thought your video was spot on about all the pros and cons. I really wish he provided an answer key for the parents.

We tried Shormann math for Algebra 1 at the beginning of this year. My son who is an A math student, found the lectures to be long and unengaging. And after enduring the long, boring lecture my son found problems that hadn't been explained in the lecture. They also have an absolutely NO REFUND policy no matter how long you've been using it. We took the loss and returned to Saxon Math with Nicole the Math Lady.

The lectures can be long. My daughter said her first few weeks of precalc lessons were very long since they were covering a ton of review. Thankfully they are shorter now that they have moved into new material, so he’s covering only a small amount of new stuff each day.

FYI: As a college math instructor I require students to show their work. Why? Because the process is important. I do have students who say "I just know,' or 'I do it in my head.' For those students, I ask them to write what they did in their head, which may not be mathematical terms, but I can understand the process they did to find the answer. I also cannot award partial credit for just an answer. In professional and academic settings, especially in STEM fields, documenting processes and methodologies is crucial. It ensures that research findings and technical work are transparent, reproducible, and verifiable by others in the community. This practice is fundamental to scientific integrity and innovation. Therefore, instilling these habits in students from an early stage is essential for their future success in any analytical or problem-solving career.

Thanks for the detailed info. We are about to start shormann so this was awesome.
QQ- Are the homework assignements for the whole week or per day?

    • @mypracticallyimperfectlife
      @mypracticallyimperfectlife  Год назад

There is a practice set/homework for each lesson, so if you aim to do a lesson per day then there would also be a homework set (20 questions) for that day.
