Here is a recommendation for a projectile. Try an endmill. They are front heavy on the shank end and the spiral flutes might give it stability. They come in various sizes and materials (steel, cobalt, carbide). The 4 flute variety would probably work better than the 2 flute ones if you were firing them shank first (more surface area to push on).
I miss the clay block I have to be honest, was always one of my favourite targets (I know that didn’t prove cost effective to you, but it always made for a dramatic impact) So a clay block montage perchance??
+Taofledermaus. There are some pretty awesome rounds in this line up Jeff. It's neat to see how they react to the lead plate. I've been pretty curious about the Ddupleks AP-20 and the company's (broad) claim that it is "able to penetrate bulletproof vests".
That t-shirt was such an instabuy I actually heard the end of the video as I finished the purchase. Looks great man and I always buy gear to support my favourite channels. Keep up the good work hitting those targets and fingering those bears! Best regards from Sweden :)
Another fun video but the real star is not the plate, nor the slug. The real star is the slo mo camera which shows us things no previous generation was ever able to see. Gives me a greater appreciation for the power of the slug and for those inventors who could not see the impact but nonetheless designed some awesome slugs.
Yeah, that struck me as a rather disappointing comment in an otherwise very interesting video. It's kind of like complaining that insulating your house is more expensive because those damn environmentalists got everyone to outlaw asbestos.
Sup Tao. I have a request for a video idea. Do you think you can capture (in slo-mo) a bullet spinning on ice? There are a few vids on YT where they shoot the ice and the bullets bounce out and spin between 500 rpm and 280000 rpm. Cheers man, love your vids.
I would like to see a comparison of some of the more effective weirder slugs you have tried and some more conventional designs that I can go out and buy Here locally
Do you make your lead plates out melted-down bird/buckshot, old range lead or junk like wheel weights, yacht ballast and roof flashing? I know some brands of shot have a higher antimony/arsenic content to increase hardness, strength and reduce shrinkage during casting.
If the Mayer Bullet is available in neighboring countries to Russia, we should be able to get them Stateside! it's just a short hop over the Bering Strait from Alaska to Russia.
OMG.. 4:40 The "Mayer Bullet"-Slug is still turning in the plate after impact. I didnt notice that in the original video. Thats realy nice... Do you shoot it out of a smooth bore? If so i wonder were its get the spinning momentum from... maybe the sligthly bent fins create some friction. Nice compilation. I guess i watched all the original videos. So it was a nice recap :-)
How about getting a Stainless Steel Aeration stone(porous) as used by the homebrewing and large fishtank communities , and fill it with something flammable and seal it. that might be awesome. cheers.
There is a wood called epae. (spelling) This wood is very hard! It has to be drilled, screwed down and plugged! I'd love to see if you could find someone to make a slug out of it and see what it does! It has very thin threadlike fibers when it's broken! Just a suggestion. I'd do it but I'm a retired carpenter living on SS alone! That doesn't allow for much experimentation, maybe like toilet paper! Not much fun and difficult to market the service. ✌
I absolutely love your work, keep it up!I really wish I could donate but unfortunately I am struggling to feed my family. Maybe in the near future I'll get a few dollars your way. Much love from Canada
Have you thought about making some of the rounds a little hotter? Maybe some of the weird ones could use a little extra velocity out the barrel to keep a stable flight for a certain distance. Some look like they become subsonic very fast from the footage I have seen. Load a little extra on some sturdy ones don't wanna paintball the weak ones. Lol
Since a lot of other channels have tried it... Have you thought about trying to make a pice of art using bullets as tools (e.g shooting a pack of paints parallel to the canvas, etc)?
Can you make a slug out of Osmium? It's the densest metal on the periodic chart, app. 1400 lbs per cubic foot- may have to be a sabot slug of small dimension for optimum weight... Yeah, that's one square inch at 10 lbs... world's best paper weight... : )
I would like to see you shoot AA battery or big spring :D Just for fun... Also I still have that idea where you get camera flash capacitor, charge it and using really small amount of gunpowder you shoot it to check if it would shock someone at contact :D I know that capacitor is really delicate and shooting it would destroy it, but with small playing in gunpowder it would be cool to test :D
I`d like to see 100yrd tests when you find a slug that performs well ? I`m sure some others would also. I come here looking to buy some of the slugs you test, just want to see longer distances shot...
100 yard accuracy tests is a stretch for shotgun slugs. Not that they can't go that far but so much is dependent on the shooter's skill, or having good optics. 50 yards is a more reasonable test since my cameras can still zoom that far so we can see what's going on.
He did titanium in a few different designs before. I do not remember any uranium though. Actually not TOO expensive, but a bit hard to work with sometimes.
How about a cast lead rifle round out of wheel weights? Or, several cast lead rifle rounds each with a different percentage of antimony, to see how the percentage of antimony affects how well they hold up?
Maybe next time you can get someone who knows how to shoot. Just kidding, that was a sweet video with some good ass-shooting in it. I'm getting a coffee mug with your tactical gumby bear on it. Cos coffee is life.
Omar S The copper jet from a shaped charge isn't molten, actually. The pressure from the charge just causes it to deform plastically, in a particular way. Regardless, that's not really what we're talking about here.
Ramazi T tungsten? Not amazingly hard but it has density on its side. If you could get a 12mm tungsten ball I bet it would make a hellish mess of anything you fired it at.
Ever think about reverse engineering exotic/foreign/ otherwise unobtainable, shotgun slugs that you are able to test? I think that there's a market for it.
TAOFLEDERMAUS Could you PLEASE say the weight of a slug in grams and ounces, nobody in europe knows what a "grain" is so this gives headache when you say "The slug weighs roughly 210 grains". Thank you.
The real star of the TFM channel, the lead plate.
Haha.
Lies. The real star is Mr. Fly.
What about the giant gummy bear?
At one point all slugs go to slug heaven (The Led Plate)
those gummy bears are getting old and gross looking.
:-}
That last slug really did some damage! Awesome looking coffee mug and shirt!! :D
Hi, im suprised no one caught you in the comments
Saw that title, 10 Weird Slugs, and thought you'd done a video about my in-laws.
Most of my inlaws are leeches.
you should chuck that plate at a pile of slugs.
haha, good idea!
Tru dat
I love how you can see the mayer slug still spinning in the cavity that it created
Russian "not very acurate" is "pinpoint" in english
interesting video!
beautiful promotional items :)
thank you Horst!

Great Video As Always Jeff. Keep up the great work. Nick.
Watch the slow motion of the Mayer slug closely. After it hits the lead plate, it continues to spin in the cavity.
Maybe try shooting frozen gumballs? Or somthing like that
i think he already did in the past.
frozen paintballs would be cool to
+Tatsuhiro Satou those hurt
+Lucas McFetridge only if you weren't the guy smart enough to be the one shooting them
Gumballs are a type of gum they are not gummy bears. for people who didn't notice
Just ordered my shirt!! Can't wait bud!!!
love the shirt design you ended up with.
+Taofledermaus. There are some pretty awesome rounds in this line up Jeff. It's neat to see how they react to the lead plate. I've been pretty curious about the Ddupleks AP-20 and the company's (broad) claim that it is "able to penetrate bulletproof vests".
the mug looks awesome might just have to get one!
I love these compilations
Cool I'm casting a big lead plate tonight! for wax slugs + I have hexolit 32s and dupo 28s. thanks for idea
Beautiful works .
That t-shirt was such an instabuy I actually heard the end of the video as I finished the purchase. Looks great man and I always buy gear to support my favourite channels. Keep up the good work hitting those targets and fingering those bears! Best regards from Sweden :)
Great compilation guy's. I really like your video's, keep up the good work! Best regards to you all..
Fun video - I love all those weird slugs. Haha fun music too...
And that tshirt design turned out great!
Haha
What song is it?
Hah, the Centurions theme, loved that show!
lol
Great video keep up the good work. Ordered a T shirt, way cool.
Thank you! I didn't think anyone would want to buy the shirts! lol
Nice Video like always, keep on doing it your way !
Oh no there's enough 22 vids keep up the good work 👍

Gives me a greater appreciation for the power of the slug and for those inventors who could not see the impact but nonetheless designed some awesome slugs.
Even my budget slo-mo is better than no slo-mo! Thanks Dan!
The mugs look awesome!Gonna try and save up for one of those for sure. Q, what's you daily driver ammo?
nice compilation!
Damn environmentalists,
Wanting to save us from lead
Love the vids!
Yeah, that struck me as a rather disappointing comment in an otherwise very interesting video. It's kind of like complaining that insulating your house is more expensive because those damn environmentalists got everyone to outlaw asbestos.
thanks!
Great compilation video. I like the merch, although I think you might lose sales without larger sizes on the shirts.
No applause just send money!
If I had any it would be yours, great entertainment value for the gun guys!
I like the new logo you put on the tshirts.
dont stop making videos👍
I'll try!
+TAOFLEDERMAUS 😊

Some ideas on next strange shots:
Ceramic, Cr-V, 18650 Lithium Battery, glass, paper (resin cast, pressed), copper coil, powder cast steel, stone (granite?), volcanic rocks, silicon (yes, ones in integrated circuits), chalk, folded steel plate (zig zag)
I would like to see a comparison of some of the more effective weirder slugs you have tried and some more conventional designs that I can go out and buy Here locally
you and demo ranch should team up and do some sweet slow mo's with his .50 BMG!!!
"Heavy Lead Plate" would be a great name for a metal band
I wanna see more of the Bismuth slugs tested for Home Defense situations like wall penetration and breaking up on impact
Yeah
Cool video Jeff :)
thanks Lars!
Centurion's theme song had LYRICS????
I realize the slugs were tested over a span of time. Do you just melt the plate back down in between videos, or do you have a bunch of lead plates?
An interesting idea would be a nail-shaped slug made of something very durable like steel, meant to penetrate thick armor.
Your voice is nicer and easier to understand when someone else isn't trying to out talk you.
Unless the plate is at a standard distance, this is hard;y a valid comparison. Aside from the difference in thickness of the plate.
I've always wanted to see live primers used as shot (my apologies if this has already been done but I missed it).
Bought a mug. The least I could do for all the great viewing you've given me.
Do you make your lead plates out melted-down bird/buckshot, old range lead or junk like wheel weights, yacht ballast and roof flashing? I know some brands of shot have a higher antimony/arsenic content to increase hardness, strength and reduce shrinkage during casting.
It's all the lead shot I removed from shells so I can put other stuff in the shell.
Slugs made of Bismuth! For all your radioactive bullet needs!
If the Mayer Bullet is available in neighboring countries to Russia, we should be able to get them Stateside! it's just a short hop over the Bering Strait from Alaska to Russia.
I'm sure it'd be way over budget, but I would like to see some slugs made of precious metals such as silver, gold or platinum
That last slug was funny, I need a shotgun.
Pack it in boys, we're a compilation channel now.
holy shit ur song u played thorough out the video remind me of like zelda or something....brought back good memories
OMG.. 4:40 The "Mayer Bullet"-Slug is still turning in the plate after impact. I didnt notice that in the original video. Thats realy nice... Do you shoot it out of a smooth bore? Centurions! 80's cartoons were the best.
How about getting a Stainless Steel Aeration stone(porous) as used by the homebrewing and large fishtank communities , and fill it with something flammable and seal it. that might be awesome. cheers.
Gunfire is actually really poor at igniting things.
PolyJohn What a shame!

Collab with the slingshot channel so yall can shoot a lead plate........at the lead plate
Have to say the lead plate is my favorite!
$10 video budget? Man, you're really wanting to go big time now! Hehehe...
the copper slug was crazy it tore right thru that that's what they use in heat rounds as well.
I can't believe that I recognized the 4:00 theme song from the Centurions.
I absolutely love your work, keep it up!I really wish I could donate but unfortunately I am struggling to feed my family. Maybe in the near future I'll get a few dollars your way. Much love from Canada
Flint embedded foster slugs would be a neat test at twilight
Bought a T-shirt, looking forward to meeting people that recognize it :-)
Thanks! Hopefully people won't attack you when you wear it! lol
If they do, I'll be as tough and imperturbable as a giant gummy bear.
Make a video on ten weird snails plz
yay Latvia I live there!!! 😀😀
right on!
Lol
if u look closely at the mayer bullet. u can see it spinning in the hole
Since a lot of other channels have tried it... Have you thought about trying to make a pice of art using bullets as tools (e.g shooting a pack of paints parallel to the canvas, etc)?
If a lot of channels all ready did it, I'm less likely to do it too.
+TAOFLEDERMAUS to be honest, I've only seen "The Slowmo Guys", "Backyard Scientist", and "The hydraulic press channel" do it.
I'd like to see you fire a minié ball.
why dont these machinists make you a mould for their slug so you can personally experiment and make as many as the video needs
Can you make a slug out of Osmium? It's the densest metal on the periodic chart, app. 1400 lbs per cubic foot- may have to be a sabot slug of small dimension for optimum weight...

I know that capacitor is really delicate and shooting it would destroy it, but with small playing in gunpowder it would be cool to test :D
We've shot both AA batteries and a giant spring from an airsoft gun.
Tim , you need to get into ammo manufacturing full time
I`d like to see 100yrd tests when you find a slug that performs well ? I`m sure some others would also. I come here looking to buy some of the slugs you test, just want to see longer distances shot...

How about a titanium or depleted uranium slug?
I'm pretty sure he already did a titanium slug ...
Or a collapsed star core slug!
He did titanium in a few different designs before. I do not remember any uranium though. Actually not TOO expensive, but a bit hard to work with sometimes.
Or some plutonium!
Isn't depleted uranium actually radioactive?
How about a cast lead rifle round out of wheel weights? Or, several cast lead rifle rounds each with a different percentage of antimony, to see how the percentage of antimony affects how well they hold up?
Maybe next time you can get someone who knows how to shoot.
Just kidding, that was a sweet video with some good ass-shooting in it. I'm getting a coffee mug with your tactical gumby bear on it. Cos coffee is life.
Please shoot prince rupert drops, that would be awesome! pr drops is glass which is stronger than steel!
What kind of device was the lead plate sitting on at 0:40?
that copper slug tho. imagine the police, "oh no somebodies using a tank" "wheres the driver?" "there * points *" BANG "and he is dead"
It's a good slug, but tank armor isn't really the same as a lead plate.
+PolyJohn I CAN DREAM JOHN!!!
i cant believe i feel the need to tell you, but that was a joke btw.
Omar S The copper jet from a shaped charge isn't molten, actually. The pressure from the charge just causes it to deform plastically, in a particular way. Regardless, that's not really what we're talking about here.
mayer was spinning in the hole, kinda like a drill
Have you tried making slugs out of rebar?
What u say to worfram rounds? Maybe u can try that. Wolfram is not that expensive but rly a hard material
Ramazi T tungsten? Not amazingly hard but it has density on its side. If you could get a 12mm tungsten ball I bet it would make a hellish mess of anything you fired it at.
shoot a rocket slug. bunch of rocket firework glued together with wax, also add some bird shot in it to increase the weight. See if it can go off.
id love to see you use 12 gauge blanks to shoot slugs like you did with the 22 nail gun blanks
probably wont be enough power behind the blanks
probably wont be enough power behind the blanks
probably wont be enough power behind the blanks
probably wont be enough power behind the blanks
Ever think about reverse engineering exotic/foreign/ otherwise unobtainable, shotgun slugs that you are able to test? I think that there's a market for it.
And thank you I'll do what I can financially I do like that coffee cup
I want to see the mug meet slug.
Hey, your cool!
This music is epic!
TAOFLEDERMAUS Could you PLEASE say the weight of a slug in grams and ounces, nobody in europe knows what a "grain" is so this gives headache when you say "The slug weighs roughly 210 grains". Thank you.
That background music gets me in the Kraut killing mood...idk it sounds like something out of Russia
nice. is your stuff available in europe? really want that mug
some lead on lead action ... :P
Needa try shooting skateboard bearings and remove the protective shield over the balls
Have you tried roller-bearings yet?
