  • Hey everyone! Welcome back to another episode of The mel0n Review! Today we're checking out TJ Exclusive's brand new PLASTIX dot skates! Now I've covered other aftermarket skates before here on the channel but I've NEVER seen skates like this before! Now what makes these skates so unique is that they're made of a hybrid-plastic material that boasts extremely high durability while also having unique performance that standard PTFE or UHMW skates don't have while also being usable on both hard-pads and soft-pads! The Plastix also have a unique physical shape that heavily differs from other skates on the market! Now based off what TJ Exslusives is saying about their Plastix skates these seem like the best skate on the market, but we'll have to test that for ourselves! So today we're going to do a deep-dive into the TJX Plastix skates and see if they live up to the advertised hype! I hope you all enjoy the review and I'll catch you all in the next episode of The mel0n Review! Peace ✌

    Hey everyone, quick update:
    So I've seen a bunch of reports about some slight wobble on the Plastix skates. From what I've been able to gather this appears to be caused by uneven installations or a warped base on the mouse itself. I personally had this issue on my OP1 8K but not on any of my other mice.
    The best way to prevent this is to ensure that the skates are evenly installed on the base of your mouse, if they're unevenly installed this can cause wobble. Also make sure that all the skates are worked in evenly because if one skate isn't worked in as much as the others that can also cause wobble.
    I'll update this if I learn anything else about the Plastix skates!

      frustratingly, Ive been having the same wobble on just normal dot jades with my gpx. only after the skates have been pretty much entirely flattened does the wobble go away, but by then theyre slow enough to need to be changed.

    Spot on review. One other thing I noticed with these skates is small specks of dirt/dust never seem to bother me anymore on these, compared to other dot skates on glass.
    If I recall correctly, it still happened very rarely on obsidian donuts, though it was far far less than dot skates. The durability on these will probably decide it for me on which I prefer, though I kind of like the performance profile of these currently.
    PlastiX donuts would be dope.

      This is one of my favorite features of the plastix skates. so far i haven't had any dust or ptfe dust (of course) grinding under my skates yet. This was so annoying on PTFE skates

    Great review man. Yea its between these dots or the obsidians donuts. Unfortunately, lately ive been dealing with a mouse woble with the tj exclusive dots on my OP1. I just have 4 dots corners. And i have re positioned the dots to the widest point of the mouse but still noticeable wobble. Will have to try your configuration of the 3 on top and 3 bottom dots. Performance is solid though, doesn't have that sticky initial friction like the obsidian pros would develop overtime of use.

      You know what's funny, I had the exact same situation with my OP1 8k. I moved the skates to my VANCER Groove and the wobble went away. Not really sure what caused it tbh but whatever it is it seed to be isolated to the OP1 8k.

      @@mel0nFPS interesting to see I'm not the only one with this issue specifically with the OP1 8K. Will put these dots on another mice then and put obsidian donuts back on the OP1 8K. Good to know though!

      I had wobble with my Pulsar x2v2 so I moved to 6 dots and it seems to have fixed it. I wonder if the harder material makes any imbalances more obvious.

    • @mel0nFPS
      @mel0nFPS  2 месяца назад +1

      @@waterboxerI think it's also something to do with how the skates are worn in, if a base is slightly unbalanced the skates will wear unevenly causing the wobble. Seen a couple other people mention wobble issues too so maybe it's a combination of both.

  • @waterboxer

    I got some of these yesterday, they may still be breaking in but damn, they feel like rocks under my mouse lol. I actually like them even if that first sentence sounds terrible, it’s just very odd at first, be interesting to see how they are with more wear. Great review!

    hey melon, would you say the plastix are the most control skates for glass? or do the obsidians offer more control?

    • @mel0nFPS
      @mel0nFPS  2 месяца назад +1

      From my experience compared to the obsidain dots they're fairly similar but just like the obsidians they're not as controlled as you'd expect them to be. The Obsidian donuts are still the best for glass imo but the Plastix are a close second.

    • @Vanadium24

    More specifically the NPETtech Speed M.
    My Obsidian Pros are way faster on the Speed M than the SP-004.

    • @mel0nFPS
      @mel0nFPS  2 месяца назад +2

      I actually tried them on the SpeedM and they damaged the surface. You're not supposed to use hard material skates on that pad and the plastix due to their super durable design can actually scratch/damage the surface of the pad so I'd avoid using them on the SpeedM.
