Dan Martell 19 year old watching this in 2019 and I have never been officially diagnosed. I always knew I had it and it’s pretty cool. It never really impacted my early education and communication wise but now that I’m older I find that rather then school my mind is more set on “entrepreneurship” . Meaning I have come up with so many ideas that will make me money but these ideas require a certain amount of money to start. Money is something that we all need and quite frankly I believe school isn’t going to help me start a business or make my many ideas a reality . Anyways 2019 is going to be the year I make full use of this power that many of us have. Live in canada too! great video

I appreciate your enthusiasm Dan, but add/ADHD is by no means a 'superpower' of any kind and that type of rhetoric is misleading and dishonest. Add is a disorder/misalignment of basic cognitive functions in the brain. Ask any psychiatrist.

Tips with timestamps bc im adhd and get bored easily:
2:48 - Nutrition. sugar is bad, drink water from your personal bottle.
4:32 - Work out, even in your room, just sweat. He didn't mention it in the video but exercise causes our bodies to release dopamine, which our adhd brains need more of.
5:34 - Sleep. Use white noise and read, create a routine that tells your brain that you are indeed going to sleep. Min 7h, try to go for 8h of sleep.
6:37 - Morning routine/ritual. Stick in meditation it's very important
8:14 - Use the pomodoro technique.
9:11 - Energy management. Try to understand which are the best times for you to do certain tasks during the day.
    10:34 - Music.
11:52 - Block time. Just schedule your day to the minute so you don't have to decide during the day.
13:16 - Build a team, for the support and delegating tasks.

I have learned how to deal with myself better because I have not used meds since childhood I could learn coping skills. I have known people and kids who have been on meds and they have a really hard time dealing with themselves off meds because they never got a chance to create coping skills for their behaviors.....

While meds don't work for me for some reason, I sure wish they did. I'm working on building my skills but the fact remains that life is just twice as much work for us folks who already are more easily tired with cognitive tasks. I saw an ADDitude article recently that suggested we look at the side effects of NOT taking medication, and I thought that was an interesting reframe.

Diagnosed at 38 and the same exact feelings. It's been 6 years and I'm still working to undo all of the negative self-talk and beating myself up that I (and others) have done all these years. It takes time, but you can do it. It's getting better. The hardest part is not looking back and ruminating on what could have been or what should have been had I known myself better. Working through the guilt of how, not knowing, affected my life and those closest to me. It's definitely a process. And it's helpful to know you're not alone. Be gentle with yourself. The biggest helpful change I made was to learn to accept who I am, and identify and explain that to others moving forward. For example I now explain to people that my brain works a little differently so I need them to repeat, slow down or give me time to write down what's being said, etc. Slow and steady and shiny(:

I am a self taught programmer with ADHD - and spent my life frustrated with how my mind was always racing. I was constantly being sent to the office in school because of acting out due to being bored, and in many cases I would be ostracized to a desk all by myself just so that I could focus on my test/class work. I am now a software engineer for the US government without a college degree, and all of my peers have a master's degree or higher. Worst of all... I am getting bored and am obsessing over entrepreneurial thoughts day in and out. Point being, I learned how to harness my ADHD for solving profitable problems for others, now I am striving to aim my ADHD towards problems I want to solve. Out of everything he said, I think the most important is diet. I removed sugar (and went vegan) and my focus went way up... like waaay over 9000... ;) . Thanks for making such a fantastic video and channel.

I’m 40 and found out I had ADHD at 39. It’s starting to change my life now I know my brain is wired differently, not just ‘broken’. Some excellent tips here, some I already use but others I’m going to try. And I am 100% with you on exercise _every _single _day, it makes a massive difference. Back to your video now :)

Maybe don’t do a system, do a customized one that works for you start with one thing you absolutely love and brings joy to you and then build on it, small blocks. Maybe meditation In bed before you even get out of bed, then water and breakfast that alone is a great start, even the meditation and water 🤍 but I know what you mean it can be challenging finding what works for you. Everyone makes it looks so nice and fluffy and easy but truly it’s what works for you. I like to sit in the back yard and just soak in the sun in the mornings with a green tea after I meditate it definitely grounds me

These are all great suggestions. I’m undiagnosed, but have a son with ADHD. I greatly relate to the struggles, symptoms, and feelings. I lost my Mom late last year, and gave myself “permission” to let some of good habits go…exercise, diet, meditation.
My symptoms are front and center again. I’m going to get a diagnosis. One of the stumbling blocks is the idea of taking medication.
This post was helpful. Good to know there are other ways to deal with ADHD.

From that on it's been a hurricane of thoughts and emotions in my head and i really want to overcome this without medication, without stop being myself but improving my self because i've always felt this was my super power even though i wasn't completely conscious of my condition. i apprecciate so much that you took your time to make this video to inspire us and help us organize and boost the best of each of us

ADHD does have a hereditary component to it. In 60 to 70% of the cases of ADHD, there is a closely-related member in the family with ADHD traits too. Read this in a peer-reviewed paper earlier, can't find the link anymore sadly. So there is a high chance one of your parents or people in your family also have ADHD.

I am now 32 years of age and have become absolutely fed up with it. I refuse to continue to feel sorry for myself and take control of my life! Now for the past 3 weeks I have really been starting to fight it. Taking back control of my life by writing things down, working out, running at the park and watching videos to try and figure out other ways to help myself from other people who have dealt with the same. Getting confused so hoping that sharing my experiences publicly might get me going again the right direction. i know the benefits of exercise - its done amazing things for me - but getting out of bed at the moment seems to be a struggle. i think it may be isolation that's destroying me but the closer i get to people the more i seem to alienate them and i have no interest in being a needy person.

Wow this guy has got some golden advice!! I accidentally figured some of these out myself. But when he said about the “gamification” of the 30min work blocks!! I knew he understood! My whole life is a series of mini games 😂

Lucky for you you were diagnosed at 8, for some of us who are 41 and still waiting to be diagnosed we have used up most of the chemicals we did have to make us happy by over drinking or eating or drug taking and now we dont have the capability to be as wonderfully motivated as you. As hard as I try to do everything you advise it lasts 3days and then procrastination kicks in, then the self loathing then the depression and in a week it happens all over again! Life is just harder for some than others. You were blessed at not getting addicted to other things before figuring out you could do it without medication.

Hi Dan, thanks for a nice video with many tips how to manage the ADHD. I am an university student with ADD, 23yo. Since I live alone, it´s very hard for me to manage the household chores and get enought time for the studying at the same time. I´ve never taken any medication for ADD/ADHD. I am just trying to be the best version of myself. I know I can improve my skill more. Thank you for the inspiration
    :)

Thank you for this. At the age of 50, I have not been diagnosed as yet but whenever I watch videos about people living with ADHD, I certainly feel it explains how I have always felt that my mind (and the way that I learn ) is somehow different from the average. If I am indeed diagnosed I want to be able to work with it without resorting to medication, if possible. BTW, whilst watching/listening to this video and taking notes, I inadvertently found myself quickly checking out my Twitter account, oops ! lol ! :)

You know you have ADHD when you've gotten distracted and paused like, 3 times before the 10 minute mark lol

Wow! Love the frame of the super power. My son was diagnosed in the 3rd grade and by 11th grade he no longer wanted to take the meds. Your perspective is going to help him understand more in how to generate the best for his day! Thank you, Dan.

Adhd is nothing more than an idealistic beautiful day planned out(in your head too “busy” to write it down) to only then wake up and realize you have something more fun to do
