First RUclipsr ever to mention the most important point when testing guitar wireless units…… how will it interact onstage with other wireless things going on! Thank you Ola for pointing this out. Most other reviewers go wondering down their garden to show how far the range is…. Pretty pointless when you get to a gig and it drops out within 5 feet ! Lol
Thank you so much for this. This video is the one that finally cracked my mind open to the possibilities of not only the Quad Cortex but also having a computer on stage. Seriously, thank you, you have opened up a whole new world for me with this one.
Our singer and bassist are both on a Shure wireless and QC rig with zero issues. I upgraded from a Line6 wireless to this new Shure system and it's been rock solid, even at the venues that would often give our previous wireless packs problems. I really like the added jack letting you run a cable in should something with the wireless go haywire.
@@Dr.Eisenarm Yeah I had a G30 for a long time and never had problems out of it until we started playing at a couple new venues that ALWAYS gave them problems. Signal dropping randomly, static, etc. The Shure's were totally fine at those places. I got a G50 hoping to get out a bit cheaper but it also would not work properly at those venues so I returned it and got the GLDX 16+. Haven't had a bit of trouble since.
Loving the automation setup! I do this exact thing with my playthroughs. Our sound guy multitracks our show and send me the raw stems to mix down for playthroughs at home. Just removing my vocals and guitar and I use the Neural DSP Petrucci plugin with automation and boom…..magic baby!
Dude, I know you are an insane ritme player, but your lead playing is very good as well. Your solo's are a really cool addition to your songs (what it should be imo). Very cool man, love your work!🤘
I've had the previous gen Shure GLDXWhatEVER wireless system. It's worked great for 5+ years. The key is to not allow one of those cheap IEM transmitters to get between you and your receiver. Then, it gets garbly. Otherwise, fantastic unit.
If you are only playing in studio or at home that’s a pretty good idea but the build of the Quad Cortex isn’t AMAZING for playing out unless you are just REALLY careful
Beautiful track! Absolutely digging the anthemic vibe. 🤘 Got the QC recently and this video inspired me to get composing. Also, I just learned something new with that midi switching technique. 😊
that's a cool setup dude, similar to how i run mine with my helix, it's so nice not having to remember to change patches.. although annoying when it triggers the wrong patch randomly so i'm stuck on lead mid song
I love the pitch shift option, it's a huge deal for me because i only have one guitar and i can go to 3 different tunings for certain songs, D# - C# - A#. I highly recommend the line 6 pod go. Amazing tones
I totally get the one guitar and pitch shifter approach. However I also think the sound quality suffers pretty massively when using any kind of pitch shifter. The non-effected signal sounded much clearer. But hey. Cant always bring all the guitars :D
I’m always amazed when people who seem to care about their sound are willing to use a pitch shifter like this. It sounds completely artificial to my ears.
@@mikewifak in this case where its only like a minor third or so its actually kind of ok and as I said its just totally not practical to bring multiple guitars for a couple clinics. But any further than this its a real problem. But then again I also generally think that most guitar tones loose way too much definition when tuned down beyonde like A or G#. You really need someone who knows how to mix those guitars to make them sound any good. And a lot of the times even they fail to do it imo
I have one guitar and use Digitech Drop pedal for lower tunings. Primarily in 2 and a half step down setting, it's quite solid, yeah much lower steps can muffle sound but you can compensate with amp/boost/volume a bit. Neat stuff as most bands play non-standard and I don't have 10+ guitars.
@@metalpuppet5798 oh yeah for sure, need actual proper tone and mix for extremely low tunings. I managed to get decent tones for even A0 heh, but yeah not as good as some bands, no gear or knowhow. But bands like Within the Ruins and Humanity's Last Breath their tone is awesome and fits so well.
Dude this is awesome! I wish I could do shit like that! But I'm about 10 to 20 years behind tech and feel kinda ignorant and overwhelmed with it all! Hard playing catch up 😂. Sounds great man!
That's great! I had a better result using MIDI to switch Scenes instead of Presets, mainly preventing the signal cut/drop for a moment, but that is so good!
Out of curiousity, Ola - why did you switch from Fractal to Neural DSP? As much as I love NDSP's plugins I still strongly prefer the modeling quality of the Fractal devices and their ruggedness...
Hej Olla i got some good news and some bad news! The good news are that i preordered the v S from solar budget metal guitar cause i am newbie and poor and cant afford the normal one so thank you for the budget series! :) ! The bad news are that this guitar will only play CANDLEMASS hehe!
Hi Ola! Just out of curiosity: why are you using different presets for rhythm and lead tones? Using different presets will have some "signal gap" when switching. Looking at the presets, you could use scenes with gapless switching between them!
If we want to add a wahwah? Need to add a cry baby in front of the chain or there are some compatible pedals that can be connected. On the headrush for example the expression pedal can be used for the wah, whammy or volume. How do we retrieve this in the QC environment? Thanks!
What do you think of artificial stereo doubling in a scenario like this (like mimiq, delay one side, or what the new neural plugins are doing)? Or what's your reason for doing center mono guitar?
Ola - question about the MIDI switching between presets and not scenes within a single preset -- how does logic get the timing right for the switch so there is no audible gap when the presets switch?
Hey swedish boi ! Nice chops ! I wonder though why using preset change instead of scene change ? Aren't you bothered by the lag ? We use one QC for all my band (2 guitars + bass) and do the computer switching as well for lives. It kicks major ass ! Cheers !
Dude! May I ask why you choose to run 2 lines of “input 1” in parallel instead of one with split (if needed) and why you use preset change instead of scene change? Tnx man
Hey Ola, how come you don’t make the rythm preset stereo with a doubler and two amps panned left and right in the QC? Is it because mono sounds better through a live PA in your opinion?
Ola! Olé! I'm loving the lead tone. Rhythm tone seems a bit looser than what you usually sling... But that's what dialing in is all about, right brother? EDIT: Damn! Really digging the selection of notes, and clean picking on the solo. Also the chord progression on the solo is excellent!

Yea!! More Quad Cortex please! Loving it, and its definately really interessting to learn your presets :) Looking forward them beeing shared :)

I’ve never heard a bad riff or solo from Ola. Love him!
Has it been 3 years already? Man I love that song so much! You really outdid yourself with this one! ❤

Did you have any problems with the Line 6 Relay? I've also got one, but didnt have any problems until now.

This guy telling he doesn't know theory yet this solo feels so right. Awesome job man.
You don't need to know much theory to get by if you have a good ear.
That solo is one of a kind!
Just ordered mine! Super excited to bring it to the studio in a month and to jam sessions
Loving the automation setup!

Very clever how it changes presets. Had no idea that could just be sent through to the modeller. Great playing too btw!
I can’t believe that album has been out that long! It’s still in my cd player! One of my all time favorite albums!
Man! Thank you for sharing this way of seeing your process and song. Truly interesting
That lead line is so expressive. Tis excellent
Great solo and track love the Quad Cortex sounds awesome 👌 great job 👍
Using pretty much the same setup! The Shure is rock solid! 🤘
The pitch shifting on the QC is damn impressive!
Honestly, it's crazy how good it is. Those low notes are *tight.*
love that solo at around 8 mins. Just great!
Watching from Bangladesh. 🇧🇩 Huge fan of you. ❤
Starzinger Excellent 🤘
Yes, Starzinger is a great album ⚡️
Sounds great. Can’t wait for you to share so I try it out.
gonna be cool
Love the midi setup! A little tip, you can also do the midi changes via the scene mode, it’s much more practical and easy to use that way.
Dude, I know you are an insane ritme player, but your lead playing is very good as well. Your solo's are a really cool addition to your songs (what it should be imo). Very cool man, love your work!🤘
That is a great solo!
sounds awesome 🙌 let me know if/when you want to come back to Luxembourg (clinic/show whatever), would be great to have you back over, thanks
The Keyboard part is so Kevin Moore-ish, I love it
Awesome! Just got the same setup! Quad Cortex + Shure wireless. Played two shows with it in the Netherlands and Sweden, worked like a charm! 🔥🔥
Oh yeah, great tone too
That lick at 6:48 is very Henrik Danhage!!!! Great tones man. Peace

Solo was killer… cool style, great playing!
Sounds freakin' rad, seeya at the Kiko Exp, man can't wait!
WOW the lead Tone ... Nice Tone
Cool song. It chugs. Couldn't help bopping my head😂
I’m planning on selling my Axe Fx IIXL+ for one of these Quad Cortex’s. I love the touch screen and the WiFi capability.
I recommend getting a headrush prime or a headrush core
@@victherattlehead5099 Going from an Axe Fx IIXL+ to a Headrush would be the downgrade of the century

@@Big_betty2 I'm pretty sure Ola uses his live with the Haunted... Plenty of people use them live, Rabea Massaad does too....
Get something Fractal audio perhaps
That track is amazing! I like the sound and how you got the Quad Cortex to work with the changes.
Ola, You sure have some great cartoons in Your brutal sick tone!!!
Sounds really great…..feel better,
Heal that back ,brother.
Very Change of Seasons inspired. Awesome

Sounds great!
Does the midi bank switching feels smooth or you can really notice that? On many equipments like quad cortex, midi switching sounds a bit harsh...
Well done on this. I added you on Spotify and am enjoying your work. Thanks again.
yoooooooo this will be good
Wow, again some tasty lead playing 🎉
That's great!

I love my half stack, but I need to try one of these
That was groovy as shit man. Killer tones . 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Can you do a video about dimebag 425gz tuning? How to do that, how to tune other strings?
Killer track!!
Sounds pretty good
WoW that is pretty Cool 👍🏼
Super sick! Ever think about doing the rhythm tones in stereo? Quad Cortex can do it fairly convincingly
That’s some very cool interesting stuff 🤟🏻
They also have power docking station for it 2

@Ola - Will we be able to buy the Marcus Siepen modell soon? Looked amazing!
I strongly recommend you make a custom click track for that, with cues (4 e 3 e 3 e 1, verse, gtr solo, 6/4, etc)

Fascinating video Ola, didn’t realise it could do so much! But not very nice of you to refer to your band mates as ‘disturbing units’! 😮
Awesome
Ola your material wealth is astonishing, I would love to see your personal Reverb page 👀👀
The Quad Chordex
nice, definitely time for a new album
Quad Cortex captures of those beautiful amps of yours as well?! Maybe?! TY!
This is the epitome of first world problems. And Im all for it 😄

OK Ola, Quad Cortex or the Fractal Axe Fx 3?
Mega!Tone!

Does Quad Cortex feel and sound as real as NeuralDSP's plugins?
Is it possible to set up the midi preset switching on logic for a Line 6 Helix?
Such a cool feature that I’d never even considered
When you switch presets, is there a delay? I've stuck with complicated scenes to avoid glitches when presets change.
Hey Ola, how come you don’t make the rythm preset stereo with a doubler and two amps panned left and right in the QC? Is it because mono sounds better through a live PA in your opinion?
No gap when switching presets?
How does Ola achieve this?

@olaenglund why you do not use the fm3 as your live rig nowadays ?
