The 80s clean was in general a Direct Input into the board with compression, chorus (JC120, or Roland Dimension D, then later 80s the Tri-Chorus) whatever Roland Delays Lexicon Reverb or Yamaha SPX90 was available in the studio. Or it was the Rockman DI'd too. Extremely simple.
I once had dinner with Dustin his then girlfriend (Melissa?) and Dustin's rather large framed father. It was actually fun.. though Dustin's dad was clearly where Dustin got his wit as Dustin's humor was kinda dry that night. 😂
Small world. Didn't know that RJ were in Transatlantic Radio. I'm from Karlskrona too. Mattias is the best local vocalist around here since ages. Good to see him active in new stuff. I will try to catch the band live here in town august 2nd.
So good to see someone using the QC different. I’m on the fence of selling some gear to fund one but it’s hard when most demos are modern metal type. I like the approach on your first tone not using an amp for a really clean tone. If I get one I’ll definitely try that.
It was great hearing the story of your process in preparing for all of the unknowns and creating your tones. Would you consider doing an “after-the-mini-tour” video going through how your planning played out in reality? Or would that be too far off the path for your channel? It would be cool to hear what worked, what didn’t, and what you didn’t see coming. Cheers RJ!
Hey there, if you hold down the IN on the patch you are working on you can turn on a very good gate that’s baked into the input so you don’t need to use a block. I’ve been loving the QC.
I think you should come out with an album RJ with TransatRadio. I think you all sound fantastic. I really dig the music that has been released so far. I would love to see a live show from you guys.
Ironically, not being an early adopter with gear is actually the best way to go. That's pretty much the case for every product in every product category. Kinks and bugs get worked out if you can wait a bit, features get added/refined due to feedback from all the early adopters. Plus, from RJ's perspective I would think as a youtuber, he gets to create new content later in the produc lifecycle that doesn't get lost in all the hype noise that accompanies new product releases these days. Plus RJ gets to hear and learn about the unit from all those other early vids. Those folks who complain about how hard it can be to dial in tones on strong modelers like the QC are totally wrong and missing out. As clearly evidenced here. This video from RJ unintentionally showcases just how easy it is to dial in even very specific tones on the QC, with almost no effort and almost no time at all Provided, of course, that one already has a tone target in their head and is already familiar with how effects and pedals work/work together. An unintentional tutorial for the superb QC! The QC is too much gear for my non-pro uses, but there's little question in my mind that Neural hit it out of the park with this unit. AWESOME, RJ! Long live the 80s! XD Have killer gigs brotha!
I just messed with this last week using your studio chorus video. Going for that flesh for fantasy tone. Still a work in progress but I used line 1 and 2 and made that similar to what you did but I took off the delay and reverb. Then I used line 3 and 4 and split them and did the 9 cents up and 9 cents down and then panned one left and one right. Basically it's like a tri stereo chorus then but also like a wet and dry signal as well.
2nd! You should try the Neural DSP plugins as well - soon to be ported one by one onto Quad Cortex. I must say, after watching your vids, I also fell in love with 80's session tones. And you can definitely replicate it with the NDSP plugins, especially Archetype Petrucci and Archetype Plini! In Petrucci, I made two tones, based on Dann Huff instructional video - one Clean 80's "Jangle" tone and one Distorted with Chorus. Same with Plini, lots of possibilities and tools on board. Definitely try them out since, as I said, you will be able to use them on Quad Cortex - the Plini is to be ported 1st, suppoesedly within next months, with CorOS 3.0 release!
Great timing I was about to hook up my QC and amp to do some playing. You should try the dual delay, set one side to quarter note and one to dotted eighth, increase the cross feedback and set mix and feedback to taste. Instant Andy Timmons Halo!
Allow me to draw your attention to 22:54… Is it normal to use both an amp sim and a cab sim on a preset when you’re running it into an fx loop return? Or is there a way to only use a preamp sim in the QC?
Love my quad Cortex… but…. For live I’ve run into issues with the switch spacings and angles. They’re just too darn close! I have pretty wide feet and it pisses me off more and more every time I use it. My previous rig was a Bradshaw rig with the RST switcher. Way better spacing and angle. I bought the quad cortex to save space but it turns out the bigger shit is better for ergonomics
My favourite guitarist on the world you are my inspiration really ❤❤❤😊😊⭐⭐⭐❤️❤️🎸🎸🎸🌟Im a special guy i take my medicine every day but i never give up on my dreams finally this august im coming in Nashville with my dad im so happy really i love your channel its amazing really and your music ❤❤❤😊😊My name is mahdi and im 23 years old i live in italy but i love Nashville 😊😊You are an amazing artist really i hope this 2024 my dreams it comes true to play guitar artists in Nashville its my dream and meet you and be your friend
It's weird for me how you put the EQ before the rest of the fx except Compressor, i use to put it on the end of the fx chain. Any special reason for that?
Ever tried getting a Mick Ralphs sound like in Gone, Gone, Gone? His tones in Bad Company were great but they aren't easy to get like you might think. Most people use way too much distortion.
The 80s had the best clean electric guitar sounds.
Without contest.
The very best.
The Rockman is the best Top 40 and Shred lead sound of the 80s and it's not digital😊

RJ! Please share these presets and captures in the QC app so that we can give them a whirl! Glad you digging the unit.
Seconded!
Thirded...🤣 🎸🇺🇸
These all sound like they're *RIGHT* at the part where Jessie learns a heartfelt lesson in Saved By the Bell.
😄
Hilarious dude you won the comment section

Thank you R.J. for being upfront and transparent about being sponsored up front. I appreciate that Sir.
TH-U is my go to in the studio and live! Best software I've used!
This is fantastic. I’d love if you uploaded this to the Cortex Cloud!
The Dan Huff tones are sick. Great stuff RJ

Hey RJ! Please share the presets and captures on the neural app. That capture is terrific
Excellent vid. Thank you.
Just got my QC, and these are the first preset I’m dialling in…. great video, thanks

Thank you so much for a killer 80 preset, its just what i needed🎉🎉🎉
I literally just bought one 2 days ago, so this was perfect timing! You gotta share those RJ tones on the Cortex cloud ;)
Adrian Vandenberg used them a few months ago when he was on tour.
QC does anything and everything and does it not just well, but AMAZING!
Man, I just got a QC and thought I was making cool sounds. But watching you, I’m rethinking my approach!
Welcome to the QC world dude, IMO the Chorus Engine works the best for me
Also tip re gate, put it on the input rather than use up an extra block

Oh my god I love these vintage tones
Missing the old days (ps I was born ‘98) but GTA VC is my childhood
That was a great band lineup for Malmo Melodic!
Sounds incredible! Holy cow!!!
Bro! The solo in “That’s what you get” is siiiick! Do a play through in video and talk to us about how you approached it!
TRANSATLANTIC RADIO !!!
Whoo! I’m so stoked I found your channel. I thought I was the only crazy person who still enjoys making music in this genre.

RJ "The good times" has a hint of Def Leppard a bloody big hint 😁
You're always good with me, RJ, but the Mr. Big shirt brings instant awesomeness!
Looking great RJ😎🤘🏾

Great video. Have you decided what to wear at the concerts in Sweden?
GREAT video!
CAn you build a preset without phisical cab (so QC directly into the mixer)?

The Cory Wong plug-in will nail the clean tones
Sounds killer. Does the q.c. have spillover on the wet FX when you switch presets? I dont like the dropout on a big reverb during song transitions.
That Nash guitar is killer! Which pickups are you using there?
Not a big 80s fan; but, would like to see more QC rig tutorials
Everything does 80s tones. Literally everything.
Screw the head power amp .: Just get a Duncan power stage and back line the cabs
@@WayneHoldenMusic don't those modelers require FRFR powered cabs?
I think what the rockman preset needs it just the premap section of an amp
Great timing I was about to hook up my QC and amp to do some playing. You should try the dual delay, set one side to quarter note and one to dotted eighth, increase the cross feedback and set mix and feedback to taste. Instant Andy Timmons Halo!
is it possible to build all 4 presets into 1 and have multiple scenes? Im not that advanced at editing patches yet.
Allow me to draw your attention to 22:54…
Is it normal to use both an amp sim and a cab sim on a preset when you’re running it into an fx loop return? Or is there a way to only use a preamp sim in the QC?
Excellent video R.J. Can you share the link to your video recreating 80’s sound using plugins? Thanks
Time to do some Richard Marx covers! Do Angelia; has some awesome tones, melodies, cool guitar parts and orchestration.
That was very useful - thank you!

Sounds like 1983 again, awsome
Sounds killer RJ !
Lets ask Dann Huff to make some patches! 🙏🙏🙏💪😎🎸🇺🇸
Nice one, just bought a QC and are chasing similar tones!! See you at Malmo Melodic! /Viktor in Care of Night
As soon as Quad gets the “Gapless Presets” update 🔥🔥 I love the scenes but the Preset Gapless game changer! 😄
Soooo the big question. Can you get the clean tone 1 out of a Tone Master Pro?
(I ask because i have that and not the quad cortex)
Super informative RJ thanks a lot, and good luck in Sweden.
80S rule !!!
I’ve been really curious about the quad cortex
Man, Share your preset on Cortex Cloud.
Sweet tones, please upload them to the cortex cloud..? puh-leaaase?
Is there no way to get around that short delay/lag when switching between patches???
Not for presets but you may use scenes option.
Hair looking a extra awesome!! Great Quaff
Karlskrona? I might have to go listen to you guys. I live pretty close to there :)
I love your way of presenting! This video was fun, even though AOR tones are my least favorite guitar tones.
please upload this to the cloud
Possible for a Quad to capture the 4 modes of a *real* Rockman X100?
❤
Welcome to the QC user family! Love the Mr. Big shirt too!
It's weird for me how you put the EQ before the rest of the fx except Compressor, i use to put it on the end of the fx chain. Any special reason for that?
Maybe to act as like some sort of boost?
Just go direct. Otherwise, each power amp + cab may color your sound in weird ways, screwing up your balance.
What is AOR?
Think 80's and early 90's melodic rock, guitars + synths. Journey, Def Leppard, Toto, Giant...
ooof when that LUT dropped off for a few seconds 😅
I love this video its on reapet on my Phone ❤❤❤😊😊⭐⭐🎸🎸Im a a big fan of 80s actually Steve lukather he is my inspiration
I love this video its amazing really ❤❤im born in 2001 in 18 april but i love 80s music ❤❤❤😊😊🎸🎸🎸⭐⭐🎸🎸🌟🌟😊
Bro, pa download naman ng presets mo! Thank you parekoy!
The Rockman echo is a lot quicker and tighter
We need for the Helix!
🤟
lol dude why do you always make that face in your thumbnails hahahaha. "surprise!"
IMO amp modelers are screechy and squishy that digital overdrive is always oversaturated because digital can't do half overdriven sounds at all.
I would have gone with a rented JVM and brought a small pedal board.. done.
Wow!
wow I've been saying your name Ron"keeyo", didn't know there was a silent i after the double L
i see touchscreen, I say good buy
Why?
Amp modelers wouldn't satisfy my amp jones in any shape or form😂
First, QC thoughts finally!!!!
@R.J. Ronquillo will you be uploading to the neural cloud? Is that Kasha capture available in the cloud (currently not able to get to it ATM).
Come on, in 2024 any digital amp does.
sounds like my zoom 505 but 1000 times more expensive
What a time to be alive: RJ is incorporating ampless modelers into his rig, and wears glasses now
Unfortunately facial hair is impossible.
@@RJRonquilloI’m 1/2 Japanese so I have the follically challenged facial hair. Some but not enough
aaw why in mono :(
Jake E Lee says hi
Doesnt want to go direct. Goes into power amp into a cab sim. 🤣
Its kinda the same but 2000 bucks more expensive
Where is the JHS hard drive review? I have already bought 1, but I'm curious to see what you can do with it.
Time for new business...WHISKEY STAMINA TARO and TAXI...LO L 😂🤣🥰
For some reason I can't subscribe to your channel, it goes "Error subscribing, try again" over and over
Why?
I like to play with my smartphone too. But I don`t like it when I want to play guitar.
So what?
Everything about the QC is mediocre.
Really? Please elaborate
@@XSUFFOKATEX If you buy one, you'll find out.
Why? What?
@@ninasazonova2511 Both the hardware and the algorithms were way overhyped. I found it uninspiring and sterile compared to Axe FX or a TONEX.
Awesome stuff! Rad unit!
Ever tried getting a Mick Ralphs sound like in Gone, Gone, Gone? His tones in Bad Company were great but they aren't easy to get like you might think. Most people use way too much distortion.
I'm requesting you do Coffee With Ola. @olaenglund
Great video !
