When I was younger my parents took me to north shore airfield in New Zealand it was the first time going to an airport of any type and I thought to myself: “imagine a 3 engines piston plane” I contradicted myself “by thinking naaaaa that’s impossible 3 engines where would they put the third one?!” But as We drove past the Barrier Air terminal I saw 3 of these Beautiful planes park outside the hanger their blue red and white livery. Sadly I never got to see them fly. A few months later I watched them being torn apart with its long noes up in the air as they were operating on the tail engine. One thing you didn’t say in the video is the Beautiful sound those Lycoming 540 engines produce it’s better than a Merlin! And the engines can be put into reverse /useful in the islands when you can actually reverse into the departures (someone told me they actually did that) Also The manufacturer has stated if someone places an order of five they will put these back into production So... LETS DO IT BOIS! Long live the poor mans dc-10!
Let's be real. This Britten-Norman flies in the carribean and it's a truly beautiful place and the tickets are quite expensive just cause of the scenery in the carribean. Also it's a tourism hotspot for Europeans and Americans so no wonder it's expensive. Carribean is a beautiful place and you should visit it in the summer!
nooo don't slander it :( I took this plane every year to visit my grandma in the Channel Islands. I loved it so much, especially the noise it made as it went over her house. it was very reliable. this plane is all yellow and has the red nose because they did it for the charity Red Nose Day one year and it stuck. The plane is called Joey and Aurigny had a fan club for it and everything

I'm in Puerto Rico and these planes were perfectly suited for the small hop between San Juan, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. Flew on them often on Vieques Air Link until they upgraded. Ugly but they are absolute work horses. Super cheap to maintain too.
1:45 the reason why the nose is extremely long is very simple if you stop ranting about things and patiently look at them: the third engine is literally on the tail, making the tail heavy. so the wings have to be placed backwards in order to adjust the centre of lift (if that's what you call it, I have not studied aeronautics, I am just a high school student) to be centre mass. this makes the nose look very long.
You do realise there is a “Trislander Mk3-1” (not seen on this video). The “Trislander MK3-1” is a SHORT NOSED variant. Clearly the nose has nothing to do with the weight... Yes the position of the wings etc helps. And that’s why you see the wings so far back. In the video we see the Mk3-2 or MK3-3 that has the “long noes” this is mainly used for baggage storage at the front. (As he said) I don’t feel the need to correct people when you clearly don’t know much about this said topic. Sorry if I seemed aggressive just this is my favourite plane XD
Yeah.. It's not THAT bad. The windows look a bit weird but kinda fun like a 5 year old drew the windows but not really. The BN2 Islander is a bit better looking on the outside, AND. I flew on the aircraft from Anguilla to Sint Maarten. I liked the plane, honestly I mean, Swiss was being a bit too harsh about this plane
Yeah! Islanders from Guernsey loved JOEY! G-JOEY was part of Aurigny's sleep for around 40 years! he now rests in Guernsey. Britten Norman Trislander is most definitely not ugly.
I've landed at Saba IRL (as a passenger). It was en route stop, and they might have warned us. We were in a less interesting two-engine Islander, though.
The aren't ugly. They have a quite unique design. When I was a kid I flew in one of those and I love them ever since. It's one plane I wish to buy some day

Dude I totally flew on a BPA Trislander when I was a child to Dunk Island in Queensland, Australia. Was an awesome flight over water, the 3rd engine sure did make you feel more secure in case of engine failure.
It might look ugly to some, but to me it's an amazing piece of aviation engineering that still flies this day. Sadly, the Trislander no longer flies where I live but it was THE plane that made flying between Guernsey, Alderney, Jersey and Southampton quick and cheap. Flights like a shuttle bus service, nearly every hour or so. I'd rather fly one of these than the equivalent Dornier 228 we have now - they're monstrous in size and don't have the same charm as a Trislander.
1 door for every two seats they also fold down to provide ease of access. Also when you think about it it’s a much more efficient design. No need to have an unused centre isle the would make the plane more fatter thus less efficient.
You have to have lean mixture for lukla, it works very well there, there's also a piston engine version which could work in lukla, I was thinking this earlier and now I've seen the vid I thought I might comment this.😃
That plane has a legend long years it's knowns for UFO incident tour that makes u nightmares so that is the top 3 dangerous plane plus ugly and it's scary cause sometimes the plane tracks ufo on radar

The reason why there is no yoke 3:31 is because the front right seat is used as a passenger seat on commercial flights, saves money for the airline :D
