Here I am, like a cave man, not bothering with the drain plug on the oil filter, spilling oil all over myself… that makes complete sense now. Thanks for your videos, you do a wonderful job and are extremely helpful!
I'll tell you a secret, I was the cave man, too 😁 I even made a video, spilt the oil. Had no clue where the little O-ring was supposed to go... Then, someone commented and explained. This video is the result of the cave man evolution 😁
Thank you for this... very helpful. Came across it whilst trying to find the oil filter on a Skoda Rapid Spaceback 1.6 TDI... should have watched it all before attempting the oil change though as I didn't spot the small drain plug in the middle of the filter cap before removing it.... clean up took a while! 🤣
I have problem with my seat leon 1.6 tdi cxxb engine, the negine oil is contaminated by diesel fuel. I checked injectors and are ok the dpf was cleaned, but the problem persists. Do you have any idea what can cause this problem?
I have similar problem with my Sharan. I would blame DPF for that, as extra fuel gets injected during regeneration. I know that my DPF should be pretty bad as the car has done over 422.000 miles, just can't find the time to do it... but if your DPF is clean, sorry I don't know. Would be interesting to find out what it could be. Sorry load of text, but not much help..
@@wawayltd i mean, it was cleaned with forced regeneration in service, by no chemical cleanining. Im thinking to do specialized cleaning with chemichal substances. With tester, it looks ok the soot, its very low. My car has around 300k km.
@@liliacul7034 Normally soot is not a problem - it burns away with regeneration, but with the flow of time there are collecting ashes, and as far as I know - it's either proper clean with special machine or a new DPF. My Sharan doesn't even show any errors, but I know something is not right, because it regenerates too often.. However, I'm not a specialist, it's just what I think.
Thanks for video. You show all we need.Great video.Regards from Slovenia i do my first change on octavia 2016.Where the hell they put oil filter cup 🙈 and 13 and 32 on plastic to unscrew with pipes on the way 😊 Are they drinking when design this 🤣
Just had a look in manual. Oil cooler sits on a top of oil filter housing, if you look at it from the bottom, it will be on opposite side, which is... on the top :) Also it says: "The engine oil cooler must not be disconnected from the oil filter housing In the event of a defect, the engine oil cooler with the oil filter housing must be replaced" It looks like a bit messy job - you need to remove air filter, fans, coolant pipes and anything that's in the way. Make a RUclips video! 😉
@@wawayltd Thanks for the answer, but I think it is gonna be a big mess. I saw it yesterday where it stays when remove the air filter completely. 😱😁. Thanks again 👍
It's hard to explain in words.. there are some hardened bits on that stripe that goes along the car, those are jacking points. It's mostly designed for garage lift/ramp, so I stick stands just as security along that stripe. Subframe is normally good for supporting/lifting... But I'm not professional.
Glad to hear your trusty Sharan is still going strong and I like the way you said it “only” has 370k ! 😊 I am sure that high mileage is also down to the fact that you look and service your Sharan on a regular basis 👍😊 I am not sure if many other Sharans would still be going strong ...🤔
@@wawayltd thank you for your vodeos. I’m SG plated too, and I’m trying to repair my car because I’m tired of being ripped by mechanic. Every time I go to them they are charging something and now since 2 years ago I’m doing alone and the car works perfect.😄
Nice and clear explanation, thank you. Some extra info: sump plug 30Nm, filter drain 5Nm and filter housing 25Nm.
Thanks for your input 👍

This video totally prepared me for doing an oil change on my 17 plate Leon tdi. Thanks so much 👍🏼
You're welcome! There will be more to come. Also new version of the website coming out soon.
Thanks for the video, while changing gaskets You struggled a lot due to loose gloves, I suggest you to buy a bit smaller ones please. Thank you.
Thanks 👍
Hello! Nice video! How many liters of oil? 4 or 5?
About 4 and a half, check the level after job.

Hi
Is this your new taxi?
Like all your videos: Audi A6, sharan ....I had the same cars.
Keep up your work.
Thanks
Thanks, I'll do my best. Yes that car is mine, but I rent it to someone else. I still drive my Sharan.
Hallo, nice explained, do you know where the oil cooler is on this model?
Keep up the good work 💪👍

Which kind and size is the screw cap on oil cup? Nice video!
It's plastic 13mm bolt
Thx for the walkthough :-)

Hi can I ask where you normally jack the car up and place the jack stand? Thanks

Any idea what size sump plug washer size is needed when replacing?
I think a washer and bolt are not detachable. They come in one piece.
how often do you top up with oil? because mine i topped up after 1750miles with a litre of oil? am a taxi driver also.
My car doesn't ask for top ups..
U beat me to it Mata : I was also going to ask if this was the new taxi and what happened to the Vw Sharan ? 🤔
VW Sharan is still working, it has only 370K miles. This Skoda is also mine, but I rent it to someone else..

No. Nothing was broken...
Thought my right earbud was gone
I'm going to use GoPro again. At least with that cheap eBay mic.
