I went into a Brandy 2 summers ago after knowing about the hype and was severely disappointed. The clothing was really poor quality and SOOO boring like 50 shades of white and beige. I feel for those affected by the harm of this brand.
Hi, I'm from Germany and I just wanted to say that now every Brandy store closed in the entire country, because it is so controvesial. I never bought anything from Brandy so I didn't care about it, but now after I watched your vid I'm really shocked. How can the store still exist?😯
I always knew they were sketchy asf. I was so severely bullied by girls growing up like this and they’re all in this little desperate space too. Makes me sad but I’m very happy I was never ever a part of this creepy company
I honestly thought people stopped wearing Brandy in 2016/2017 because of all the information that came out about promotion of disordered eating, racism, and p-philia. Looking back, I think maybe it was just me/ my age group that stopped because we got older and learned, and we out grew the "aesthetic". Besides the quality of Brandy was never high (imo), it just had good marketing to make it seem like it was good/better than other options.
This is so evil. Of course, as a teannage girl you are looking for acknowledgement and affirmation. And when someone tells you you looks so cute, they want to snap a pic and hire you - who could say no?
I'm in the fight of my life putting weight back on my daughter after she was diagnosed with anorexia. I find this brand in her browser history and it makes me furious.... I told her I would burn any piece of clothing with this tag.
Omg I feel so bad… I bet you’re daughter is perfect and beautiful I hope she doesn’t get influenced by the brandy girls😔 I’m only 13 so I don’t have much knowledge about stuff like this so I hope u understand🫶I hope for the best!🫶💗💖☺️
I hope you can get through to her. I don’t know much about anorexia, but I hear talking about their weight loss or gain can make it worse, and for a lot of people who struggle, they fell into the trap by feeling a lack of control and are attempting to get control back by “controlling” their weight. I hope you both can make it through this diagnosis, it’s a tough one to break.
It fortunately never got to the point of being unhealthy, but as a girl who also went through a lot of body insecurity in her teens: Maybe instead of being angry at her clothes (maybe making her feel even worse and more insecure) maybe try to invite her on a calm and more healthy shopping trip. Of course that depends a bit on her age and personality. For me e.g. it really helped knowing that I actually did fit perfectly in most jeans of the size I always thought I had and that it was just H&M pants being two sizes smaller than the tag claimed.
This can easily be reduced if schools had uniforms. I have uniforms in my school, it is annoying, but at least no one's showing off their wealth or figure.

i've never heard about that before either, but i guess its the mariahilfer straße one (auf der Seite vom Museumsquartier), unless we have another store?? I pass by there sometimes omw to work, but it doesn't look to be very popular lol
I'm italian, i live near the Italian city you mention and altough there is a good chunk of exploitation of the workers there aren't teenage girls working there. like I get the situation isn't the brightest but there are no 13yo working there. we have laws in Italy and I know my country sucks in many many aspects and workers' rights are getting damaged everyday by capitalism and the right govt we have now but we still have laws about child labour
i think the bigger picture is the reason why the people in the doc said at the start “it was a mess!” was because they then go on to say their team was built entirely on teenage girls. the exploration still happened regardless and it’s so incredibly wrong how his man managed to manipulate his way through the system somehow and get away with all of it.

Glad to say I only have one item from Brandy Melville and it was thrifted. Oddly, it’s actually colorful and fits me (a busty betty). It’s probably one of the “oversized” ones if they do that. It’s cute though I still wear it.
I skimmed the comments and not one person acknowledged the racism of the brandy Melville brand. That the owner of brandy Melville is racist and wears nazi stuff. And he infused his white supremacist ideology into creating this racist Brandy Melville girl aesthetic that is the core of the business. That’s the appeal of the brand is the image of being this pretty long haired white girl. Every person they interviewed said oh that was the brand’s appeal. Without that the brand doesn’t exist as it does today. It used instagram to create that image in the minds of its fans. The thinness the whiteness of the girls featured on Brandy Melville’s instagram was the appeal. That aesthetic is the whole company. And that’s what’s actually unique about Brandy Melville is the so so obvious white supemacist image of the brand.
@@randomgirlontheinternet171 yeah that proves my point. The racism of the brand. It’s exclusion of women who are not white and thin is the brand’s appeal. You personally want to validate the views of the owner by rewarding his racism and the brand’s racism. The fact that you say you don’t care about this stuff means you are in support of it. A middle aged white man putting together a business model like Brandy Melville isn't as scary as the fact that it was SUCCESSFUL. It truly speaks to our culture. He didn't create these toxic traits with Brandy Melville, he exploited and profited off something that is already so prevalent in our culture.
I'm reminded of the Terence McKenna quote “Culture is not your friend. Culture is for other peoples’ convenience and the convenience of various institutions, churches, companies, tax collection schemes, what have you. It is not your friend. It insults you. It disempowers you. It uses and abuses you. None of us are well-treated by culture.”

comparing a body type that many women have to that of a twelve year old isn’t the best decision you’ve made when it comes to wording things. however i do appreciate the video, and the vast majority of your content. however, i think it should be noted that there are adult women with “younger” looking bodies, simply because they are built more lithe or slender. comparing them to a growing or developing girl has been a trend for women with smaller bodies, and it’s high time that’s stopped, i think.
TW!! ED my sister has anorexia and has for a while. unfortunately, it started when she was around the age of a young teen, . i have grown up with her having an ed since i was a toddler, and as i have grown up she has grown up with me, having her ed. she told me once when we were visiting brandy melville when i was starting to new buy clothes and 'begin my girlhood!!', she told me how i shouldn't really be shopping there since it did not help her when she was younger, and the 'one size fits all' thing about brandy melville is not true and a horrible thing to say. im so happy she told me that. brandy shouldn't be promoting unhealthy body images to such young women.
I’m always amused at how trends emerge around stuff that’s just basic. These tops look like what I wore as pyjamas in elementary school and early teen years.
Oooh girl... My childhood 😅😅😅 I remember those days... I was a young black girl from Dominican Republic , so you can imagine i didn't fit in that brand....but i loved the esthetic so i try to copy my way
I’m 42 and live in highly tourist area I saw this store front but had no clue what it was. And young girls would ask me where this store was. I feel like so bad for these young women. This is NOT healthy in anyway whatsoever. We are failing our youth.
I don’t think the CEO invented girlhood he simply capitalized on it. The aesthetic isn’t his making nor is it unique. The desire for teen girls to feel “in” isn’t his making either. While I believe that the CEO is reprehensible and probably should be investigated for criminal activity. I also think toxic teen girlhood is to blame for this “cult”. Because what’s being sold here isn’t cute clothes but exclusivity. It’s not all that different than how luxury brands operate where by wearing their labels we can feel richer and more important than others. But why do we seek to feel this way? Ask yourself why you need to feel skinnier and prettier than some other girls and then you’ll dismantle the true foundation of these types of businesses.

It fortunately never got to the point of being unhealthy, but as a girl who also went through a lot of body insecurity in her teens:
Maybe instead of being angry at her clothes (maybe making her feel even worse and more insecure) maybe try to invite her on a calm and more healthy shopping trip. Of course that depends a bit on her age and personality. For me e.g. it really helped knowing that I actually did fit perfectly in most jeans of the size I always thought I had and that it was just H&M pants being two sizes smaller than the tag claimed.
Show her this video! Show her more video analyst RUclips videos so she knows it’s not just you. It’s more women waking up to the bullshit.

And that’s what’s actually unique about Brandy Melville is the so so obvious white supemacist image of the brand.
yeah but its a brand...no one cares...and its pretty...i dont care what the owner thinks and im not even white im asian
Trying to pretend you aren’t.
@@tm7517 its just clothes..clothes cant be racist..if you dont fit its not anyones fault try to find smth else (like a normal person). stop trying to destroy what other people like just bc you cant have it. childish behavior. yeah im in support of this clothing brand cuz it looks good on me. and u people are the reason im so grateful we live in a democracy and your sad feeling have very little impact:)

lol clothes can’t be racist is a dishonest response to my post. Did I post clothes are racist? No I posted the OWNER is a nazi and a racist which is the truth. But if you don’t why reply to me? Why lie about what I posted? I don’t post clothes are racist what an utterly ridiculous notion.
@@randomgirlontheinternet171 just because it looks good on you doesn't mean you have to support it. personally for me, if the owner is a fucking racist and wears nazi things uh... let's just say I'm NOT supporting that. also, it literally is promoting EATING DISORDERS because those clothes are so tiny, and people want to fit in them. also did I forget to mention that the owner is a pdf file? err yeah... A middle aged white man putting together a business model like Brandy Melville isn't as scary as the fact that it was SUCCESSFUL. It truly speaks to our culture. He didn't create these toxic traits with Brandy Melville, he exploited and profited off something that is already so prevalent in our culture.
Bingo. And that’s what ppl failed to see
I'm reminded of the Terence McKenna quote “Culture is not your friend. comparing a body type that many women have to that of a twelve year old isn’t the best decision you’ve made when it comes to wording things. however i do appreciate the video, and the vast majority of your content. however, i think it should be noted that there are adult women with “younger” looking bodies, simply because they are built more lithe or slender. comparing them to a growing or developing girl has been a trend for women with smaller bodies, and it’s high time that’s stopped, i think.

How have I avoided knowing about this? My heart goes out to those involved.
