This is not an exaggeration and I wish I had this information years ago before wasting loads of money
I’m disgustingly pale with the darkest thickest Arab hair. I had the worst folliculitis. It was severe and I tried everything, including full body TCA chemical peels at my dermatologist. That’s when I quickly realized that I needed to invest in professional full body laser hair removal. Game changer! Best money I ever invested!
The answer I was looking for!! So many dermatologists on here are sponsored to push at home IPL devices by the brands selling them… you just saved me money. Thank you!
DO NOT waste your money if you have thyroid problems... None of that was mentioned to me, and I spent plenty. It lasted for only a few months and as soon as my thyroid levels changed it all grew back.
Sorry to hear this. Which kind of laser did you do? I have thyroid issues and I had soprano titanium laser used on me; my hair hasn’t grown back and just need top up sessions for now
If your hormonal/thyroid/PCOS then 100% do electrolysis at least for your face and "hormonal areas" but 100% your face. They NEVER disclose but bot only is laser not effective (some patients see results) but actually cause MORE HAIR GROWTH, esp for PCOS. Electrolysis is so worth it. It might be more pricey in your area, use Groupon if you can BUT TOTALLY WORTH IT!! Only thing the FDA cleared as "permanent" hair removal unlike laser
Dear Dr. Shereen, Thank you for raising awareness about the proper use of laser hair removal. Moreover, kindly highlight about the importance of covering moles in white marker during a laser hair removal session. Can you please state the consequences of doing laser hair removal over moles? What should people who fell victim of this malpractice do to ensure that no damage at all is done?
I spent loads of money after getting laser to try to figure out why I started growing hair like a man on my face. I was tested for PCOS, thyroid conditions, you name it. And I kept telling the doctors (even a dermatologist) that this was the result of laser. They all said they’ve never heard of such a thing. And now you put a name to it - Paradoxical Hypertrichosis. I can’t thank you enough!!
Ty for the video, I have PCOS and have been getting laser treatments for my neck, side of my face, and chin for a few years now. I know that sounds like a long time but to me, it is worth it and it has helped my hair growth significantly! The reason why it's taken so long is complicated by hormonal medications I take causing the hair to reoccur. If you take thyroid replacement or birth control, be careful because it could cause hair you've already lasered to come back! Going back in for touch ups will be key. It's a long journey but it will make a difference!
Thanks for the information, ive been waxing for about 14 years now and still hairy like a forest. PCOS can be such a struggle sometimes. I've been torn about laser treatment for quite a while, also have really bad Keratosis. Comments like yours give me a bit more hope, that you've had success despite your PCOS. ❤
Very good point about going to reputable clinics. The first time I did laser removal I went to a reputable clinic. I got my armpits done in 6 sessions and today over 14 years later I still have no hair. Then for my legs I went to a beauty clinic, and although I haven't been burned (I'm very pale with thick black hair, so it's more difficult to get burned I guess), I've done dozens of sessions and I still have a LOT of hair. Now you are making me wonder if they arereally using laser or only pulsated light. Cheap stuff turns out expensive as we say in Spain! Unfortunately, I don't live in the same country I did when I did my armpits so I can't get my legs done in the good place. But definitely I will go to a derm clinic to get the rest done! Thanks for another great video!

I purchased the Braun IPL. It has gotten rid of my leg hair and armpit hair, but my chin hair is exactly the same as ever. I wish I could afford a laser treatment for my chin.
I’m an electrologist and laser hair removal is keeping my business going. I would say today 70% of my clients first underwent failed laser treatments and had hair regrowth. I see a lot of men who had laser induced hair growth on their shoulders, and arms. I see women who went to treat sideburns and upper lip hair and show up borderline suicidal because lasers stimulated so much growth they have beards. I ask how many treatments did you have and they said first it was 6 treatments, then 12, then 25. The FDA needs to get involved and change their rules on laser devices. Too many consumers are being robbed as they have to pay for electrolysis after losing thousands of dollars of non-refundable laser service.
Could you do a review/video on the Allure best of beauty Skin section? Also looooove The Depuffer for my retinol journey/to address some light irritation.
I have medium fair skin with blond hair. Was trying to remove upper lip hair, but instead there is more. I realize now that I need electrolysis, but scared it’ll hurt too much. I hated laser too.
I understand what doc is saying about IPL, but for many of us the professional laser treatment in a medical office is cost-prohibitive! It would be awesome if you could find an IPL to recommend (unsponsored). Personally I'm trying one this month with a money-back guarantee.
Dr Shereene, could you please make a short or a video about under eye exfoliation - should we exfoliate under eyes, if yes, with what concentration of acid? ( I personally do it 2-3 times per week with 3% glycolic because my undereyes are extremely hollow and the skin is super thin), but I did not find any video talking about how to do it. I know that YES, but what concentration? Yes depends, but still - if the skin is super thin?
Will it work on my face? I have black hair and the hair on my face is NOT peach fuzz, it’s black but it’s very fine but longer than peach fuzz so I can easily shave it off. Note: laser has worked wonders for my arms and legs.
Is that a no to all IPL home appliances? I’m so tempted to get the new foreo gadget for hair removal. Any chance you can do a review of these products ?
I have a question for you. I feel like my hair got thin after a couple sessions. It feels like laser don't hit them anymore. At certain parts, the hair falls after sessions but keeps growing back whereas other parts it never grows back. Is it wise to stop going to laser?
I had laser hair removal for 2 years in an area trying different wavelengths, and still have hair growing there. Wished I had this info before, because I definitely wasted my dinero.
I've been having laser hair removal treatments with IPL on chin and even parts of stomach for years and it always comes back. I'm very pale and the hair is rather dark. So what could be going on here?
Dr. Idriss, Thank you, could you please recommend list of products for after care? When it comes to waxing. for instance. I'm big fan, thank you for your videos🤓
I had laser hair removal and welp, grew back. And up until i was balls deep on my 3rd session out of 5 only then the technician told me hair will not gro back unless i kept doing these sessions couple times a year 😐 yeah I rather shave. I did notice less hair grew back and on my nose it grows but i pull it right off and some come out.
Thank you so much for this video. I had laser removal treatment on my chin hair over the course of a few years about 10 years ago. The hair was very light and nonexistent for a while. It immediately grew back when I got pregnant. Why would that be?
I bought a home yag laser but it’s very tiny width for like tattoo removal and not a large area I think I’ll just get it professional and up keep with ipl

Yes! Been wanting to hear about this from you
Thanks Dr Idriss! How about talking laser treatment or collagen xp next time? Thanks again!
Something else I am personally cautious about is medicine that is known to have a certain risk of making the skin photosensitive.
You are the best Dr. Shereen ❤ I got all the answers in 12 min.
Goodmorning!!! 😊 Thank you for this videooo girll!!! 💃🏼💃🏼
Avoid electrolysis is you have upper lip eczema. I regret mine
I did over 10 electrolysis appointments, and the results are awful, waist of money
Omg this is really good info!!! Thank you Dr!
I understand what doc is saying about IPL, but for many of us the professional laser treatment in a medical office is cost-prohibitive! It would be awesome if you could find an IPL to recommend (unsponsored). Personally I'm trying one this month with a money-back guarantee.
Pale olive skin tone, natural dark red hair
Thanks so much for this video! ❤ What are your thoughts on doing laser hair removal if you have acne?
Is it a myth then that going over successfully treated areas stimulates regrowth?
Suggestion for a video - how to find your targeted serum
Can ingrown hair/strawberry skin get better with laser?
This information was amazing! Thank you so much for sharing
Can you explain about Hydra facials ?
This was really helpful, thank you!
You look so pretty in this video
I'm a white male with soo much hair I've been doing laser since I was 25 and I'm 33 now laser has helped but not 100%
What about Dermrays home lasers? It's supposed to be a true laser and has a model for all skin tones 🤔
Plz recommend if a 14 year old girl can start laser hair removal..?? Thank you
I have a question for you. I feel like my hair got thin after a couple sessions. It feels like laser don't hit them anymore. At certain parts, the hair falls after sessions but keeps growing back whereas other parts it never grows back. Is it wise to stop going to laser?
Love your earings, where are they from?
Thankyou for this helpful informative video!
Dr. Idriss, could you do a deep dive, Let's Get Intimate, with both Resveratrol and Pycnogenol separately please?!
Do over the counter laser hair removers actually work? If so, which ones do u recommend?
Yay, it's Saturday!
Good morning or afternoon Dr Idriss!! 😊
Will your products be available in Canada? If not, can you suggest a comparable product? Thank you. Love how you explain skin care😊
so informative!
Thank you for the video! What about light colored hair on lighter colored skin? Will that respond to a laser?
Thank you so much for this video. I had laser removal treatment on my chin hair over the course of a few years about 10 years ago. The hair was very light and nonexistent for a while. It immediately grew back when I got pregnant. Why would that be?
Any hormonal changes can and will affect hair growth. Puberty, pregnancy, menopause. If you completed treatment, you can go back for maintenance.
Dr. Please recommend a laser hair removal machine at home for brown skin.
Can an ipl device cause skin cancer? Especially the unreputable brands online and also when used with retinol or other actives
@ShereeneIdriss-. love this allcap level of enthusiasm 🤩
