The video explains it pretty well, but I've been playing Dead by Daylight again much to my own surprise. This video isn't the Danganronpa video, I know, but it was something quick that I wanted to get out there because my head would not shut up about this game. So, here's to quieting the voices (or the ADHD, whichever feels more appropriate)!

2:46 real and true. If everything is ranked, nothing is. It's only in games that have a ranked system IN ADDITION TO a nonranked system that I dislike the ranked aspect. In games where it's ranked or bust, the supposed "tryhard" mode goes away. That's League's biggest problem - Ranked is a cesspool, whereas the more casual modes have a bit more leeway. DBD does well by having it always ranked, so the people who need dopamine from unhealthy coping mechanisms can look at their number go up on a leaderboard, whereas goofballs like me can disregard it and still have fun.

i've never personally played DBD, but your analytical breakdown on why certain playstyles are necessary in ranked kinda rings true about how i feel in most games, and I haven't really thought about it too hard until right now.

Makes me sad to hear a killer wonder if they're playing nice or not. Remember, you're trying to mess them up, and they're trying to mess you up. Ignore the Survivor Rulebook and play as dirty as you need to play. Tunnel, slug, camp, do whatever you need to do. Getting lit up in chat by angry dead survivors is half the fun.
