  • On Oct 4th 2017 I had a Rectocele Repair along with correcting damage to my rectum due to a major prolapse of my colon. I had 18 inches of my colon removed June 19th 2017. This is the last surgery to correct more of the damage done.
    This journey first started when I was diagnosed with Pelvic Congestion Syndrome in Dec 2014 which then to my hysterectomy in April 2016 when to help with chronic pain. It eventually lead me down this path to further corrective surgeries.

    You are looking sooo much better, the internal healing shows on your face and you are beginning to 'glow' again. Hoping for continued recovery for you.

    You are an inspiration! I had rectocele repair and TVH with lap assist and 2 huge fibroids removed. I also have hemmoroids. No one was up front with my about how this recovery would be. You have gotten a lot more done, but you help me feel not alone. I kept comparing myself to other women who didn’t have as much done etc.

    I have an ultrasound this Friday to see if I have rectocele /hernia/pelvic floor prolapse. I’m 53, severe ra (54)and OA and I’ve had a total hysterectomy. From what I’ve researched it’s rectocele and I’m TERRIFIED! My soon to be ex husband is a stage 5 CKD and has rectal cancer again and I’m in the process of finding another place. Long story! Sometimes women just get used and abused too long! I have no idea what I’ll do if I’m down from surgery and my family is 3hrs away. Please say a prayer it’s just something simple. There’s no way I can go now because I cannot lift heavy things, I’m weak from no appetite/not eating, and I don’t know what I’m going to do. I’m so happy that you’re doing well! You look amazing! Thank you for these videos!

    Thank you for sharing!! I’m 4 weeks post rectocele repair and the pain is still insane. It’s nice to find women to relate to because this is so common yet so difficult to find real stories on.

    I was constipated for 30 years. It stopped instantly when I divorced my husband. No joke.
    My doctor never told me constipation could cause a prolaspe rectum. I'm hoping I won't need surgery. Thanks for being so open. ❤

    I’m having rectocele repair a week from tomorrow. I’m also getting a bladder sling. Hysterectomy 4 years ago. My gynecologist is doing the surgery, and I hope I’m doing the right thing for my body. I had emergency gallbladder removal back in October, and nearly bled out, so I’m terrified. What a nightmare this has been. 😢 Thank you for sharing your experience. It’s really difficult to find! Hope you’re doing well!

      they put me in a bed with a catheter and gauze a mile long for about 18 hours. IV and meds by mouth. I hated that catheter at the end. My dr said I was a “princess .” I guess some women bounce right back, but mine hurt for a while. I am like a virgin all over again tho 😂

    HOW ARE YOU NOW??? I went to the obgyn last Tuesday, and before he even examined me, he said surgery...then th examined me, and said it's not that bad, but surgery...and it's only a few days to a week recovery...that didn't sound right...I've had hysterectomy 2 yrs ago and have rectocele and bladder prolapse, the bladder isn't the worst if it to be sure. I'm having trouble finding anyone who has had this surgery to actually give an update...were you numb? I was numb for 6 months after hysterectomy...the surgery (which I don't wanna get) would be vaginally done for both...

    Is there any possibility that the hysterectomy contributed to the development of the rectocele and or colon issues? Thank you so much for sharing your experience with your surgeries.

    • @LoseitwithBlair
      @LoseitwithBlair  6 лет назад +2

      That's a great question. For me personally no due to it being so much (18 inches). They suspect my prolapse started when I was in my teens and progressively got worse over the years. Now the hysterectomy didn't help matters since that was probably the only thing really holding much of it. They believe had two issues, the prolapse and the pelvic congestion syndome, basically pushing on one another. So I would have more then likely still needed the hysterectomy.
      Now women who do have hysterectomys are at a higher risk for other organ prolapses like the colon, but typically more the bladder. This is why now I recommend to ALL hystersisters to see a pelvic floor PT specialist to further help the pelvic floor to lower those odds.
      I will be making more vlogs sharing about my PT as I am currently just starting this myself, and learning so much.

      FWIW, my rectocele was detected as symptomatic one year after my hysterectomy. And if you look at the female pelvis anatomy, you can see for yourself (even as a non-medical person) how incredibly easy it would be for a rectocele or Enterocele to form after the removal of a uterus and cervix.
      I was told by my gastro that if the obgyn surgeon does not do a bladder ablation (?) rectocele form even more easily.
      Also the hysterectomy won’t help with existing rectoceles that are causing no problems or existing sigmoid colon issues, particularly those arising from adhesions.
      Just wanted to affirm your thoughts with my own experiences for whatever that may be worth. Hope it helped.
      ETA: actually rectoceles are the most common after hysterectomies, according to the literature. Prolapses involving the bladder are likely to be caused by hysterectomies, but rectoceles are more common. Probably because the uterus sits between the vagina and the rectum, and/or because women often have small rectoceles to begin with. And pelvic floor training is least effective for rectoceles, especially after they go beyond the 2 cm mark and after the hysterectomy. There is nothing there to prevent the rectocele from increasing. The medical literature states that pelvic floor training typically does not work for symptomatic rectoceles.

      Mine prolapse rectocele is at a stage 3 out of 5. I had the pessy put into just today but my Gyn wants me to think about the surgery. Seeing everything on youtube so far. It looks really painful. And what exactly is cause some of you back pain?

      Hey lady! I have had some issues at times with passing gas, but have been able to hold #2. I would chat with your surgeon and see what they suggest. Maybe seeing a pelvic floor PT specialist to help strengthen the area more? I did go and see one after my surgery to see how my pelvic floor was healing up

    Hello ! I wish you a good recovery ! What method do the doctor used on you to repair the rectocele ?What about your bowel mouvment is it going forward or is it going right down like it should be ?

    • @LoseitwithBlair
      @LoseitwithBlair  6 лет назад +2

      Thank you so much! I'm not sure the exactly how it is called method wise but my colorectal surgeon went through my anus to perform the surgery. I do know that some other types of surgeons will go through the vagina and even some through the stomach depending on the surgeon and/or if the women is also having another repair or even a hysterectomy or bladder repair at the same time.
      My bowel movements are moving along as they should now
